Very good facilities, comfy beds & dog friendly. On-site parking an added bonus as we didn’t use the cars all week. Fantastic walks along coastal path to both Brixham and Torquay. Would highly recommend.

  • "A lovely house over 3 floors."

Good size bedrooms, with plenty of space to get ready. Ideal having en-suite include bath/ shower in each bedroom, however ideally some hand soap available in each one would have been nice. Clean and tidy property with all kitchen equipment needed. Ideally for dog owners. You wouldn’t know it had dogs in it before. Stair gate great idea to prevent dogs upstairs too. Really is a 1 minute walk to the beach and 3-4 minutes from Paignton pier. 2 parking spaces directly outside of the property make it ideal to park up and then walk in to the town, where entertainment, pubs and shops can be found. Great communication from property manager, who responded to a question quickly. Ever better if… After a long journey (6 hours), it would have been nice to have a welcome pack of some sort such as pint of milk in the fridge, so that a warm drink could have been made on arrival. It’s the small things that can make a difference. Towels were provided, however only one bath sheet, the others were small bath towels and not ‘ideal’ for adults. Overall, great location to potter around and close to other local areas such as Dartmouth, Brixham and Goodrington Sands.

  • "Superb property."

Everything needed for a great holiday was in this beautiful, clean, well situated property. One of the best holiday homes we have had the pleasure to stay in. Even had a large shed ,in the back, containing so much beach equipment for the whole family to enjoy.

  • "Not tip top clean - bits of dust in a few areas and dead flies plus there was left over food in the freezer (we ate the garlic bread and left the other things in case the next people wanted them!"

) There was no welcome pack and we are used to that in our holiday cottages. Also no toast rack (I know that's maybe a bit picky - we use them every day at home though). We did appreciate the coffee machine and cafetiere though plus 4 slice toaster. Washer/dryer also good. Great parking too and location as we knew it would be after looking at the location before we booked. Would definitely come back!

The king-size bed in the main bedroom was the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in. The showers were a dream and so powerful. The level of cleanliness was exceptional. The bedroom with a rail for clothes I would have liked a small wardrobe but I realised that space would have been a problem. All in all the house was a perfect stay and would certainly recommend it to friends and family.

It was very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. Beds were very comfy, powerful showers. The location is spot on and minutes away from the beach. It was our first time away with a dog so can’t comment on that but our dog enjoyed himself.

  • "This was our second visit here and this time it really wasn’t as good."

Cutlery wasn’t clean, some worn. Kitchen facilities were limited. The towels were marked and far too big to get dried after washing them. The holiday home lacked a tumble dryer particularly when you have children. We had issues with the key safe and although two spaces to park it was really awkward to park. Given covid we expected the accommodation to be cleaner than it was. Also no welcome hamper like last time. These little touches make the difference and it just felt like things had slipped within two years. Also it’s a holiday home for 6 yet the dining facilities are only for 4! On looking at prices for next year just to compare - for the same week the owners are asking an extra £1000 for same week!!

Thank you for your feedback which we always take seriously. Unfortunately there is insufficient room for a separate tumble dryer at the property which is why we offer a combined washer/dryer as listed. There are 6 chairs available to use but 2 are kept folded under the stairs. We always encourage all guests to contact us as soon as possible so we can address any issues during your stay. We would have been more than happy to help had we heard from you. We hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

Everything was available that you'd expect from a holiday home. Each bedroom was comfortable and well set out, having a bathroom or shower room in each bedroom was a big plus. Sitting out on the balcony was very pleasant and you could see the sea from it. The location is great, just minutes walk from the front of paignton, the area around the house is quiet and safe. Will recommend this to people looking for a home from home when holidaying.

Ideally situated close to all the facilities that Paignton town has to offer. Supermarkets, shops, pubs, restaurants and take aways. The beach is just across the road and it is very easy to get to Torquay, Brixham and Dartmouth by road, bus, boat and at certain times of the year by steam train.. Cockington is well worth a visit. The only issue we had was that the Sat Nav took us off in the wrong direction and the written directions were not particularly helpful and the black sign we were told to look for is no longer there so it took several attempts to find the property. In the end we used Google Maps which got us there. Think possibly the directions could do with being updated.

. To be able to walk across the road to the beach with 2 young children and be able to pop back for extra snacks or toys was brilliant. Easy walk into the centre. The Boatman and Shoreline were great for family dinners and we enjoyed the circus on the front. Easy drives to Paignton Zoo, Model Village in Babbacombe and Kents Caverns made days out easy. I would recommend the Reteat for families. My only criticism was the washer/dryer. It was very difficult to dry clothes on damp days as the drying programme was so slow. Would be better if possible to have a separate dryer when you have lots of kids clothes and beach wear to launder.

  • "We had a fantastic time at 7 The Retreat, the accommodation was by far the best we have stayed in very clean and the finishing touches made it the perfect holiday home."

The accommodation had everything we could need and more including extras that make your holiday that bit more special such as windbreaker for the beach crabbing lines all wonderfully thought out by the owner. The kitchen was well stocked with everything you need to cook a nice meal - including oven gloves and tea towels to save you taking these. The nice welcome gifts were also a nice touch. The beds were comfy and and the place was spacious. 7 The Retreat couldn’t be positioned better - it’s straight across the road to the beach about a 1 minute walk so perfect and then 5 minutes into town. We enjoyed lots of beach days, a visit to the zoo, visit to the Torquay and did lots of other fun activities. The grass area by the beach made a perfect location to play cricket and bowls with the children. We had a really fantastic time, the children didn’t want to come home nor us adults and we have already booked a return holiday there next July. The only thing we could think of that would maybe improve the accommodation more for the future would maybe to install an air conditioning unit in the attic room as we had exceptionally hot weather and as heat rises this room became particularly hot and stuffy. Please pass on our thanks to the owners of 7 The Retreat for a wonderful holiday home. X

  • "This is a six person holiday home, yet the dining table only had four seats which made meal times interesting."

They really need to provide six seats. Likewise the living room needed a couple more chairs. The downstairs toilet didn't have a hand towel. They left a guest book but no pen! We didn't have one with us so we couldn't leave a review. By doing all the above this property would have been absolutely perfect. The welcome touches for our pet dog were really appreciated. The property was probably one of the best for cleanliness I've ever stayed in. The location was fabulous. We would like to return, we even looked at returning this summer but no availability ☹️

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and considered returning. Thank you for providing feedback, we will act upon the points you have raised. In regards to the dining chairs, we do have two extra folding dining chairs available in the hall cupboard so six people can be seated at the table. This was not mentioned in the booking process , as we would not have booked if we knew we had to lock our dog up over night. Our dog is part of the family so when we saw the property was dog friendly we didn’t think we’d have to lock him up. It should be advertised as dog tolerant instead of dog friendly. We totally understood that dogs were not allowed on the furniture or beds but our dog is used to sleeping in our room in his dog bed, and allowed to be with us or our daughters.

We are so pleased we chose self catering as The Retreat was superb! From the moment we opened the door we felt at home and relaxed. The cleanliness and decor is probably the best we have experienced in self catering and we debated whether it surpassed our favourite villa in Menorca (which we return to often).
