  • "Comfortable cottage that is bit bit of step back in time."

Keeping true to the cottage theme with owners decor. The owner left clear instructions for us to use this cottage . However the heating could not be altered because the the temperature thing wasn't working . Although when the owner was told she said that she would alter the temperature remotely should we want that. Location is absolute perfect, so near the sea and backing onto the harbour . The only downside is the parking arrangement ( which could not be helped) There were lots of choice of eating , shopping and drinking venues very near ( We particularly liked Pebbles Tavern) The cottage was super clean . We only needed to use 1 bedroom but it was nice to have the choice. Thank you to Janet for the use of the cottage

Thank you for your review. The heating controller was broken but has now been changed to a Hive which is much easier to use. Sorry about the inconvenience this caused Property Owner

The house was very comfortable, especially the beds. The kitchen was very well equipped with plenty of china, glass, pots and pans etc. Lovely view from the outside space but as it faces north hardly ever gets the sun so was not warm enough for us.

Thank you for your feedback. You are right the terrace faces north but the terrace gets lovely sunshine in the summer months Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at Harbour Cottage."

The property was clean, very well equipped and there was plenty of space for our party of 8 adults. We particularly enjoyed the patio overlooking the harbour which we were lucky enough to be able to use every day. Watchet is a lovely little harbour village with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants. It's also a great base for exploring West Somerset and Exmoor and of course the steam railway on the doorstep is well worth supporting. Thank you for having us. We would certainly love to return one day.

Thank you Paul for taking the time to leave your great review. I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay and I agree that the patio overlooking the harbour is great. Did you know the Bristol Channel has the 2nd highest tidal range in the world. Watching the tide roll in feels magical I hope Harbour Cottage will welcome you again one day soon Property Owner

Watchet is a lively little place with easy access to Exmoor, the Quantocks and the Somerset Coast Path. The handy beach was great for the dog, but not really a bucket and spade destination

  • "Lovely, homely cottage in the quaint village of Watchet."

We were a 3 generation family group and all of us loved our stay - including the dog! The cottage is really well equipped with comfortable beds and a really well equipped kitchen, so we could happily cook at home with a big kitchen table to enjoy our meals. The top floor with the ping pong table and huge amount of games was a big hit with the kids. We had a lovely meal at the Star Inn, and there's lots of local pubs to enjoy a drink. We hopped on the steam train to Minehead, drove to Lynton/Lynmouth and there's lots of lovely places within an easy drive, as well as walks around Watchet Harbour. Sitting outside on the terrace for a coffee in the morning sunshine was bliss. Highly recommend.

  • "Lovely property, a bit of a Tardis as much larger inside than it appears from the front."

Fabulous views from the rear and the terrace. The fact it is in the middle of the older part of the town with the Co-op 5 minutes walk away makes it a great location for an effortless town/country/seaside break. And that log burner made it so cosy coming in from a cold, crisp winter walk. Would recommend.

  • "My party had a wonderful holiday at Harbour Cottage."

The cottage is well equipped and spotless. It's best feature is a wonderful terrace overlooking the harbour. We made good use of it. The Cottage is situated right in the centre of the village with 3 pubs, 2 restaurants, 1 fish and chip shop and various tearooms and small specialist shops to choose from, all within easy walking distance. The car park is literally across the road and one car park permit is included with the holiday. We had a second car and it only cost £25 to get a 7 days permit. A bracing walk along the pier (there are 2 of them) with the dog every morning was fabulous. Again minutes from the house. There is a wonderful arts centre with excellent restaurant at the other end of the Esplanade again no more than 10 minutes walk away. All in all, I would recommend Harbour cottage to anyone.

Thank you so much Laura for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. I am sure it will help prospective guests to Harbour Cottage to get a really good sense of the facilities available in Watchet I am so pleased you had such an enjoyable stay. As you say the location overlooking the Harbour is very special and quite unique. The tidal range is actually the 2nd biggest in the world Property Owner

  • "We had a very enjoyable stay at Harbour Cottage."

As a group of 5 adults and a baby, it was very comfortable and well equipped. Communication with the owner was excellent before and during our stay. It was our first time in this part of the country and Watchet is a delightful village with everything you could need pretty much on the doorstep. It was a great base for exploring. We made the mistake of going in to Minehead on a Saturday which was heaving with lots of drunken groups which were all on one of the weekends at the Butlins - it was not pleasant. We revisited on the Monday which was much better. Having read previous reviews we tried the Spice Merchant in the village and agree that it was excellent. We also had pizza in the Bell pub which was ok. We would definitely recommend Harbour Cottage and would stay again if we were visiting the area.

Ideally placed for shops and a stroll through town. The cottage has a very well-equipped kitchen and comfortable bedrooms. The table tennis table was an added bonus. It also has a sit-out and it was lovely watching the tide go in and out and watching people strolling or fishing along the sea wall. The sound of the waves was very soothing. • "Hi we all thoughly enjoyed our stay, however, we were very disappointed that we couldn't get to the property until 5 and had to leave by 9 on our last day."

I understand the owner says there was extra cleaning to be done I find this hard to believe as each bedroom had some kind of rubbish or belongings from the last occupants in and given that we had to empty all of our bins, strip the beds etc we had done half of the cleaners job anyway!

I am really sorry you were disappointed you had to arrive after 5 and leave by 9 am. This was in line with Covid regulations at the time - not just for the extra cleaning needed but also to leave time between new guests arriving and cleaners leaving, in order to minimise the spread of the virus You were not asked to strip the beds so I am not sure why you understood otherwise . Guests were asked to empty all bins (again because of Covid) but if Guests overlooked this the cleaners should have done it themselves and I apologise that they hadn't. We have never had that complaint before or since and get very high ratings for cleanliness However I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and hope you will return. Property Owner
