Dog ( houdini and hole digger ) enjoyed the garden. Would be visiting again I am sure.

  • "Do not use Sykes or this cottage."

I paid over £500 for it could not stay as was having building work ongoing inside and with severe asthma was a health risk to me. They would not refund money.

I am so sorry you had this experience. We suffered a roof leak earlier in the season and the renovations required have been incredibly disruptive. I am deeply regretful that your holiday was affected. It’s all completed now, so no future guests will have a compromised experience. Thank you and sorry once more, Lucy Property Owner

  • "Car parking was a problem."

Not considered safe outside of property due to narrow lane and other peoples cars needing to get past. The nearby carpark had signs that said no overnight parking which we, and others, had to ignore, but we worried about consequences. It was also a pity that repair works in the bedroom couldn't have been carried out completely in between lettings. We understood the problems being addressed though.

Thanks so much for the feedback, David! It is absolutely fine to park in the car park, and to relieve yourself of any anxiety about the ‘no overnight parking’ signs you can pop into the village club where they will issue a permit for overnight. This must not have been clear in my communications prior to your visit, so I will make sure to make that information more readily available to future guests. Thanks so much again, I hope you’ll return. Lucy Property Owner

  • "A fabulous cottage in a lovely village."

We visited with our small terrier and the garden is secure enough to let him wander in and out of the cottage without worrying that he'd find a way out. The double bed is soft and comfy and the water was properly hot whenever we needed it. The kitchen is well equipped. There are excellent walks to be done from the doorstep with no need for driving. Our car is far too large to park in the lane outside but we were able to unload and load without problem. We were able to park in the carpark for the village hall which is one minute walk away (a permit is available if you ask at the village hall). The village shop is literally on the corner (open 8-8) and there are three village pubs, one of which, The New Inn, has one of the best views from a beer garden I've ever seen. We really can't say too much about this comfortable, clean cottage and its great location and are probably about to book another stay.

What can I say, thank you so much Barbara! So so happy that you had a lovely time here. Very best. Lucy Property Owner

  • "We booked Redwod for a friend's weekend away."

The cottage is beautiful and in a lovely location along a quiet lane. Parking was easy to find and very close by. The cottage is comfortable and well equipped. We really enjoyed lighting the log burner for a cosy evening in following a very wet walk in the Mendips! In better weather we would have made use of the lovely garden.I would say that for 4 adults the sleeping arrangements are snug but fine for a weekend (also, there were only 3 dining chairs). The beds are very comfortable and the lounge is lovely. Blagdon is a pretty village. We made use of the map in the cottage to plot a walk over the hills to the Plume of Feathers in Rickford for lunch by the roaring log fire ( highly recommended). Great communication from Lucy the owner about an issue that didn't actually affect us at all. All in all a great weekend and we would definitely book again.

Very well provisioned and very comfortable. Which was a good job as the weather was awful and we spent more time, than intended, in the cottage. It was great to have a dog walk on the door step. The Thai restaurant is definitely worth a visit as was the Seymour. We are going back in the Summer.

Quiet location in a narrow lane just off the High Street. There is no parking immediately outside the property but you can park outside for loading and unloading but then you have to move your car to one of several options that are only 1 or 2 minutes walk away - check which is the best option with the owner, who is extremely helpful and answers any questions immediately. Lovely walks from the front door through open fields and lanes around the village and down to the reservoir. We enjoyed some fruit from the community orchard where villagers can pick freely!

It was clean, very spacious and had everything we could ask for. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equiped. The huge garden is bonus, but the large Mead is just a few meters away. Parking in front of the cottage is not possible, unless for loading/unloading. However, a large free car park is nearby. Owner Lucy made sure she could be easily contacted when needed and made sure we didn’t miss out on anything. Blagdon is a nice town to stay, it’s in a lovely area. Dear Sir, thank you so much for the feedback and your kind comments. I am so sorry that the cleaning was not up to an acceptable standard for your arrival. I have worked with the team since to ensure that the job is done perfectly every time. We found out when we arrived there is NO overnight parking near the cottage, we were very lucky the manager at the Seymour arms allowed us to park on their car park. Space to unload at the cottage was very restricted too as residents park their cars in the very tight lane.

Dear Mr Prescott, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave this review and for the helpful feedback. I know from our communication during your stay that your experience was positive but it's always good to hear about how things can be improved, too. Regarding the garden, I am so sorry that you found yourselves sitting by the bins! The seating area at the top of the garden is indeed considerably more pleasant. We do think that the photos shown give an accurate portrayal of what the garden is like, but I appreciate that the slight incline might be problematic for some. Parking is on-street, as described in the property description, so I am really sorry that you weren't able to find a place on the high-street next to the cottage. However I am glad you were able to improvise and that the locals were accommodating. Thank you again for the feedback and I do hope you'll return one day. Very best, Lucy Property Owner

Lots of places to walk the dog without getting in a car, and the locals all stopped for a chat and told us the best places to visit. Our German shepherd loved the garden, and the slope meant he had plenty of exercise running up and down it. The cottage is well equipped with games, extra throws, and sufficient kitchen equipment for the meals at home, but there are also plenty of places around to eat out. The local store next door was an added bonus for re-fill milk, warm croissants, and all the basics. With a large vehicle, we parked in the village car park, which despite having no overnight parking signs up, we had no problems with. Will definitely try and return soon to explore the area more, and get to the Yeo valley gardens next time.
