  • "Lovely apartment which is well laid out and very well equipped."

Great to have the lift in the building (real plus). We have enjoyed a couple of holidays here and would definitely recommend.

...if not the best....holiday properties we've ever stayed in (in the UK). quality, spacious, modern, warm(!), light and airy, sea view....didn't want to go home!

  • "Upon arrival the place is lovely however is it very unclean and dusty."

The bathrooms especially unclean. We then established the shower was broken and flooded the bathroom which we reported. We had were told a plumber would come the next day which they did not. We were without a shower for a full four days. I was advised several times someone would come and spent a lot of my holiday calling Sykes who are very unhelpful. I would never book through them again. I was told I would receive a refund which I am yet to receive. Over all a nit great experience.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Comfortable accommodation. Perhaps bags to line the bins (especially the food waste bin) might be helpful. The hill from The Square was quite testing, but do-able.

    E. glass surfaces. We were particularly disappointed with the state of the kitchen sink how it had been left by previous occupied and never had any attention by the cleaning agency. We complained to the house manager who eventually rectified the badly stained bowl/drainer on a property of this quality should never happen. Also lack of worktop cleaning materials for self cleansing. But otherwise an enjoyable stay.

It was clean, comfortable and the perfect base for our annual week in Swanage. The apartment is finished to a high specification, with pretty much everything you need to cater for yourselves. The parking space is an added bonus. We’ll definitely be rebooking for next year.

would have liked a few more saucepans especially small ones and the bathroom no handles on bath also no slip mat and being a roll top nothing to grip and we choose this accommodation because of a bath so i did purchase a slip mat. and in all the years we have been coming to Swanage which is 22 have i ever had to buy toilet rolls and washing up liquid but you get over these problems and make it a lovely holiday.

  • "Great location."

5 mins from the shops and cafes. 6/7 mins from the Sea Front. Modern apartment. My daughter loves the Alexa devices and the Smart TV. Netflix & Amazon etc. Good shower in the en-suite. Deep bath in the main bathroom. Underfloor heating. Not needed, it’s a warm flat. Well appointed kitchen. Dishwasher washing machine fridge freezer. You can see the sea from the bay windows. Parking space a real bonus. Great location to explore Swanage. As I said a modern apartment. Spacious. Oh my wife said that the mattress in the Master Bedroom was so comfy that she wants us to get one…

  • "A lovely apartment with all necessary amenities, comfortable beds sofas etc , modern bright and warm, nothing to fault the apartment except the cleanliness of it … upon arrival we found clumps of hair everywhere, from the showers and basins to the floors and sofas , food debris in between the cushions on the sofa to a filthy toilet brush and holder ."

. this seriously let the apartment down . We spent a good two hours giving the place a real good clean before eventually getting on with our holiday and we had a lovely one too . Swanage is a delight . So seriously guys get on top of the cleaning and do it properly and you have a gem of a place… on a side note the shower and basins in the bathrooms kept backing up probably due to the amount of hair that fouls them , use some drain unblocker regularly every fortnight or so so or you’ll end up with flooding.

  • "Overall the apartment was as expected."

There were a few issues - there was no microwave, which caused problems with heating up meals I had brought with me. There were only 3 saucepans - 1 non-stick (damaged) and 2 very large non-stick pans. The other issue was with the bathroom sinks - the men couldn't fill up the sink for shaving so had to have running water because there was no plug.

  • "We were really impressed with the facilities at 6 The Lookout."

Everything we needed for a great holiday was provided. One small but nagging issue was there being no plugs for the wash basins! Finding parking for a second vehicle was an issue too. Not sure how this could be addressed. Overall we were very pleased with our stay at number 6. Would definitely consider coming again!

  • "Just returned from our second stay and already booked for next year."

We love the apartment. We have some suggestions which would enhance the facilities: Kitchen: Need a colander, smaller teapot. Drawers need sorting! Lounge: Coffee table. Bedrooms: Both need mirrors, summer duvets. Walk in shower needs a basket/holder for shower gel etc. The other bathroom needs a shower screen as water likely to go everywhere from wand shower. Would be helpful to identify which keys open front door and apartment door.

  • "We were very comfortable at 6 The Lookout, which is a warm, ultra modern apartment."

It is near the town, but up very steep hills. There is a lovely sea/coastal view from one window at the dining room table. The sofa and large chair with footstool are luxurious! The kitchen is well equipped, and I enjoyed using the Portmeirion 'Botanic Garden' crockery. Small criticisms: you can't put in the plugs in the bathroom basins, not broken, just part of an odd, impractical design. The iron bedhead in the second bedroom is not attached and not comfortable to lean against if reading in bed.

  • "Nice But Overpriced."

Clean, fairly spacious & good location. However: Very overlooked by adjacent properties, footpaths & road, have to balance the use of the many blinds to keep privacy whilst still allowing light in. Windows quite difficult to fully open (oh those awkward little black window stoppers!). View of distant Swanage beach is limited to only one side window! Most of the lounge windows lookout over the road into the opposite YHA car park. As a light sleeper the noises from the nearby lift & adjacent stairwell did disturb sleep. Walk-in shower flooded if jet shower used for any length of time. I know this was not offered but It was quite warm weather when we stayed so really missed having a balcony or outdoor space (like apartment below) to sit and have an evening drink on. No TV in main bedroom! No plugs in bathroom sinks so difficult to wet shave. No coffee table in lounge so have to put your mugs on the floor (with anticipated consequences!) No tumble drier which would have been a better way to dry clothes than hanging them over the towel rails. Nice but Overpriced. Would I stop there again? No. Would I recommend it? With reservations.

A bit more attention to detail such as labelling up the keys would have been helpful. The apartment has been provided with most things that you would need, but items need to be kept in order between lettings. The general cleanliness of the place was ok, but more thorough cleaning would be helpful in high use areas such as the bathrooms and kitchen.

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
