The only thing that let it down was the cleanliness and maintenance of the property, from cobwebs/dust and stained bedding,

  • "No facilities open ie, shop, bars and restaurant was only open for a minimum time, a few hours during the day, lodge needed a good clean, some appliances need attention and updating."

Bathrooms need a proper clean and general maintenance. Lighting and fridge in need of attention. Sofas were unkempt cushions had muck in the crevices and all cushion covers needs a good wash. Suggest putting a chopping board in the kitchen. Outside grass and hedges need a good cut and trim back, if we were going to have a barbecue we couldn’t have used the grass area as it was far too long. Some of the furniture up on the top decking was broken so couldn’t be used. Also all cushions need to be washed. Other than these small issues we all had a lovely time. We did think the lodge itself was spacious and homely in part. Thank you Stella Davies and Party

  • "We had lovely stay, but ,in my opinion the property could do with some maintenance and upgrading."

The sun loungers on the upstairs deck had no cushions (if they did we never found them) one of the loungers was held together with cable ties and a piece of wood! The kitchen lacked, what I would describe as, essential items - scissors, colander, chopping board, bread board etc. Information regarding re-cycling, what and where the bins were was not provided. Also in the en-suite when the toilet flushed it caused gurgling and water to come up in the shower drain hole which was a bit disconcerting.

  • "Only things which the kitchen could have done with was a chopping board and a bread board!"

It would also have been nice if there were cushions for the furniture on the roof. But all in all it was a great place to stay and we had a lovely time. (Those are only very minor suggestions for an even better experience!) Thank you for letting us stay

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
