"This very clean and spacious first floor flat for two is within a converted old townhouse and as such is large and airy, ideally situated just a short distance from the Marine Parade, beach, shops and restaurants."

The NCP carpark is a short walk away, which is convenient if rather expensive, but you can park there overnight and pay for 24 hours by phone app. On arrival if there is a parking space available on the road just outside the flat, you can unload there and have an hour’s parking before you need to move your car which was quite convenient. This is a good central position which we enjoyed. The flat itself would be absolutely great with a few more bits and pieces - the kitchen equipment is very basic with some essential items missing but hopefully that will be sorted by Sykes now we have informed them of the shortcomings. The shower is poor, has a tiny showerhead with a reduced water flow and the bathroom has absolutely nowhere to put anything down or hang anything up, there’s not a shelf, ledge or hook, so you need to take everything in and out with you each time you use it which was irritating. Towels are thin and of poor quality. There were some maintenance issues (scalding hot water from taps, broken door lock, shower trim falling off etc etc) which we passed on by emailing the management company who very quickly responded and said they would sort them out. On the plus side, the huge bed was super comfy as was the big sofa. Wifi and Smart TV were good though we never did work out how to use the TV but then we’re hopeless at technology. We didn’t go into the back garden but that would be useful if you’re bringing your dog. Generally speaking this is a very nice flat which would benefit greatly from a bit more thought being given to what the visitor needs from a self catering apartment, especially for the price.

"I would wholeheartedly recommend this apartment - we loved it and would love to stay again."

I would definately NOT recommend Sykes. We left our dog bed in the apartment and in spite of trying over and over to speak to a person to find out if we could collect it from someone, we couldn't get through to a 'real' person. There was no number to call for the cleaners or the owner.

Thank you for your kind comments about the apartment — we’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay and would love to return. We’re very sorry for the difficulty you had in reaching us regarding your dog bed. During peak season our phone lines can become extremely busy, and we appreciate this must have been frustrating. For future reference, our office number is always clearly displayed in the guest information folder at the property, and our team are here to help with issues like this. We’re glad that we were able to collect your items from the property and arrange for their safe return, and we do hope we’ll have the chance to welcome you back again. Property Owner

"We enjoyed staying in this apartment."

It was a good location and nicely decorated. We were disappointed to find that the bed was only half made on our arrival. We weren't very pleased we had to complete making it up. There was no apparent facility for recycling at all which we think is poor. The seagulls in the back garden caused a lot of noise and we couldn't use the garden because the mother seagull was quite aggressive. Seagulls return to their nests every year so you need to address this issue. Information on parking prior to arrival would be helpful. Also many other Lyme Bay holiday cottages had a parking permit included.

Thank you for your feedback — we’re really pleased to hear that you enjoyed the apartment overall, particularly its central location and décor. We’re very sorry that the bed was not fully made upon arrival. This isn’t the standard we aim to provide, and we've raised this with our housekeeping team to ensure it doesn’t happen again. Regarding waste disposal, we understand and appreciate your comments about recycling. Due to the nature of the building and its location — where bins are not permitted at the front and the property can be vacant for periods between bookings — we use a private waste contractor who collects from the rear of the property. Unfortunately, this service does not currently offer a separate recycling facility, but we are continuing to explore more sustainable options where possible. Seagulls are an unavoidable part of coastal life, particularly during nesting season, and we understand that their behaviour can be challenging. We are looking into humane deterrent methods to help reduce the impact for future guests. Finally, thank you for your comments regarding parking. While not all of our properties include parking permits as standard, we agree that clearer pre-arrival information is helpful, and we’re working to ensure this is made more prominent in our communications. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and hope to welcome you again in the future. Property Owner
