  • "Lovely property in a good location at a very reasonable price, kitchen diner really has the wow factor and is excellently equipped."

The games room I can imagine would be appreciated by younger guests. Could benefit from a few more comfortable seats in the snug for us ‘oldies’, however that is a minor point as we had a wonderful stay. Worth noting it’s an easy 10/15 minute walk into town, mostly along the front, but if you don’t want to walk the bus stops conveniently very near the house

Plenty of room for all of the family and the grandchildren loved the games room. The only negative thing was the bed pillows. They could do with a refresh. Overall we all had a great time, Would not hesitate to recommend this property.

  • "We were a family of 9 (6 adults and 3 children aged 7-10) who stayed at 49 Ulwell Road for a week in August 24."

The house was perfectly located to access the beach and the centre of Swanage, and we loved having the park just behind the house. The facilities downstairs were brilliant, with an amazing kitchen / dining room with the pool room just off the side. The lounge was also comfortable. We would definitely recommend the house to others.

  • "Beautiful well equipped property for a large family group, Quiet location but only a short stroll to the beach and shore road."

Loved the welcome hamper and the men enjoyed the pool table and also the cricket ground next door. Perfect property for our family to enjoy Swanage during carnival week. Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, in fact our 6 year old granddaughter cried as she didn’t want to go home. More wonderful memories made in one of our favourite holiday destinations.

We particularly like the practical layout, good quality appliances, fittings and furnishings. Thank you for taking on feedback about the bins and waste disposal, much easier this year and we appreciated that we didn't have to go to the tip during our holiday. The cleanliness was not as good as last year and it was disapointing to be sweeping up dog hair in the kitchen, we are pet free. The bathrooms were ok but drains all need attention (it must be hard if people wash sand in). We rebooked straight away and are looking forward to coming back, thanks for the welcome pack and a great holiday.

  • "We had a really lovely stay."

The photos online don't do this property justice. It was bigger all round and more impressive than we imagined. The kitchen was well equipped, and it was a nice addition to have an ice dispenser in the fridge/freezer. The bedrooms were all a good size (other than the single, which was exactly that). The master bedroom was great, with a beautiful and large en-suite. The pool table was good fun. We did have issues getting the TV to work in the games room though. I contacted Skye Cottages about this on day 2, and they didn't get back to me (to ask further questions, not to solve this) on day 6. I didn't bother trying to get this sorted for the one remaining day. The garden was slightly smaller than we imagined, which wouldn't have been a concern if we didn't have young children wanting to run around. However, there was a field and play park out the back of the property, which was a pleasant suprise. The only thing we'd have liked was additional seating in the living room. There wasn't enough for the 6 adults who stayed. The proximity to the beach was amazing. It was so nice to walk the simple 10 minute journey to the seafront. Myself and family have been visiting Swanage for the past 35 years. This is a beautiful property with a fantastic location. We shall definitely come back - thank you.

  • "The cottage is the star of the show and easily accommodated 3 family generations and a dog."

It is easy to be picky but here is some feedback. Hope it can improve what is a superb offering. 1. Initial WOW factor let down by some very dirty windows onto decking. Also the skylights upstairs are lovely but dirty. 2. Garden furniture adequate but in need of update as the sun deck is a superb feature. 3. Kitchen is very well equipped but tea cups and crockery in general needs refining. Only builders mugs are available - some smaller are needed. The opposite end of the scale- a decent sized teapot would be great. 4. We found the cooker disappointing in performance. Does it lack gas supply?. The ovens did not heat up enough to brown food. 5 Barbecue was superb. 6. Garden is very dog friendly and secure.

The house was very nicely decorated and kitted out. The kitchen/diner was where we spent most of the time in the house and was a really great space for socialising, cooking and eating. The pool room was also a great touch that was used every day. The house is ideally situated to walk to the park, beach, shops, steam train and view points. It is also well located for a short drive to some lovely places. When we arrived there was a welcome basket of wine, biscuits chocolate and tea, which was a lovely touch. We would happily stay here again.

We were a group of four couples, plus one dog, each couple had the use of their own bathroom, - 2 bedrooms were en-suite. The master bedroom is fabulous! The house is perfect for a large family or friends, the kitchen diner became the hub of the house, adjoining the very popular games room, with pool table, a great addition to the overall ambience. It is situated in an ideal spot for the beach, there is a lovely park immediately behind that dog owners will appreciate, plus views of Ballard Down from the front bedroom windows. A very quiet and peaceful area to stay. The house was always warm, (a bonus in the winter time) the entrance hall has a bench sitting over a radiator, useful for warming up after a long walk, with plenty of space to store wet boots and coats. It was spotless on arrival, the kitchen is very well equipped, plenty of space to sit and move around each other. On our first night we celebrated our Wedding Anniversary and hired a professional chef to cook for us all, he remarked on the impressive size of the range cooker and spacious working area. It will be a fantastic house to stay in during the summer months, with its bifold back doors and huge bbq, plus the stream trickling nearby. We have no hesitation in recommending this impressive house and hope to return before too long.

Points to note for the owners. 9 of us and no large saucepan although we found a large saucepan lid. Nowhere near enough teaspoons. No toilet brush in upstairs bathroom ( non en-suite) Days and instructions of rubbish/recycling/needs to be clearer. We met the glass recycling men, and they could only take ours because the previous tenants had put it in the normal recycling bin. We left both recycling and ordinary rubbish out but nothing was taken the week we were there. Only publish to owners as generally the house was lovely. Thanks

The house was beautiful and perfect for our group of 9 (4 adults and 5 children). The kids enjoyed the pool table in the games room. The garden is quite small, in comparison to the size of the house, and not completely ‘dog secure’, but there is a large park just behind the house that we used everyday. We have 1 dog and there is right next door a fabulous and well equipped park which was lovely to stroll in and meet the locals its was great for both dog and humans. Then there is an easy walk down to Swanage sea front and the other way up to the hills. THe property itself was very well equipped with life centering around the very large kitchen and the pool room. There reading nook is useful if someone wants a quiet read or a chill out and there is a small living room with comfortable seating but it is quite small. The only minor downside is that for a house that sleeps 9 there is not really anywhere,. with comfortable seating for everyone to be able to congregate for cosy evenings when the weather is not so good. The kitchen is fantastic and huge and there is a lovely outside seating area and massive BBQ for when the weather is better. Master bedroom is lovely the other rooms are all perfectly suitable though a little tired compared to the pristine kitchen and poolroom area. Overall a fantastic stay and we would definitely return but for me it suits us as a 4 or 6 person if you want to be together.

About the location

SWANAGE

Wareham 9.7 miles; Poole 20 miles.

The small, family-friendly seaside resort of Swanage is situated at the eastern end of Dorset’s famous Jurassic Coast, on the celebrated Isle of Purbeck and is probably best known for its wonderful, gently shelving golden sands. The little town offers visitors plenty of shops, good pubs and restaurants, some of which specialise in locally caught seafood, and is also well known for its annual jazz festival, which takes place each July. The attractive, Victorian wooden pier offers a great place for a stroll or try fishing, and often used a departure point for divers, it’s a wonderful place to watch the world pass by. The historic Swanage Railway has its terminus in the town and regular nostalgic steam engine trips take tourists for a picturesque 6-mile journey, chugging through lovely countryside to stop just beyond the romantic ruin of Corfe Castle. Nearby Durlston Country Park offers a lovely day out with spectacular coastal walks, dolphin spotting and wildlife watching, together with comfortable viewing points and a well-stocked cafe for a treat after all the fresh air. Take the short drive to Studland, which has one of the finest beaches in the country, surrounded by heathland, together with the regular chain ferry, which crosses the mouth of Poole Harbour to Sandbanks. This truly is a delightful holiday destination at any time of the year.
