"Whilst we had a very enjoyable week there were some issues with the property."
i) Most importantly the fridge. It is far too small and the freezer compartment is tiny. When we arrived although the fridge was on it was defrosting. We had to turn it up to full and even then it took 24 hours to freeze half a tray of ice cubes. We did report it to Dream Cottages but nothing happened. It needs replacing with something larger bearing in mind there could have been 5 people staying. There have been comments in the book since 2019 about the fridge!! ii) The waste in the ensuite shower wasn't taking the water away properly. This was also reported to Dream and some one came to unblock. iii) A spot check needs to be done on the cleaners. There was old tissues under a cushion and dust on the legs of a rocking chair. We also put all rubbish in the bins provided and put them out for collection as instructed. The collection didn't happen. This was reported to Sykes.

"This is a great house with space for 2 cars to park."
Location is perfect for walks, pubs, restaurants, beach, buses and harbour . Definitely will book this house again .
-
"Property very dusty and sofa and chairs not very comfy."
Way too many cushions. Only other thing to be improved is black out blinds or curtains and get rid of ripped lamp in living room other than that property fabulous

"We love your property and the location was really good."
Peaceful and access to Rodwell path and Northe fort. Decor was a good standard . Sorry to say just a couple of points the en suite shower bottom runner needs to be descaled. Also curtains falling off the rail and do not block out sun in the morning. Would make a difference

"The property is well situated and spacious but was dirty"
-
"A very pleasant and comfortable stay."
Cottage is in a good location. A second front door key would be useful. More information about dealing with rubbish would have been helpful, e.g. what goes in which bin. Happy to recommend Casa Carmen.

"The only things that I would change are putting black out blinds or curtains up in the bedrooms we have stayed here 3 times and are coming back in August and would like not to wake up at 6 am every day other than that we love our stays."
-
"Really enjoyed our stay in Casa Carmen."
Lovely house in a great location even if the drive entrance was a bit challenging. Only niggle was the fridge which is rather small and only has a tiny freezer compartment which makes it difficult when catering for 5 people.I note this has been an ongoing complaint for several years. We did hear creatures scuttling about in the roof and reported it to Dream Cottages. Other than that it was great and we would happily stay there avain

"It has been noted in the visitors book for the last 4 years that the fridge is not fit for purpose."
The bottom drawer is missing, the top freezer part doesn’t work and there are two small shelves that are shallow and you can’t even fit a pizza box in it. Seeing as the house is supposed to accommodate 5 adults there is no way that it is fit for use. As the visitors book only goes back 4 years and this has been a constant issue it really is about time they invest in an appropriate fridge. Inadequate cooking pots and pans for 5 adults. Both tin openers were broken. The oven when put on set the smoke alarm off so had to try and cook with the back door open so when it’s 2 degrees outside was a challenge. Maybe cleaning the oven would have prevented this. One of the bedrooms had no heating and as we rented the property in the winter this was unbearably cold. No hand towels in any toilet or bathroom which would have been helpful when washing hands. Light bulbs were missing in lamps and some main lights the bulbs had blown. The reason we rented the property was because my mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and it was an opportunity for all the family to come together one last time. We had to spend most of the time at the house due to mums illness and needed to cook for her daily which was challenging with what we had available to use. Overall we were disappointed.

"Wow what a fantastic property casa carman was."
The 2 weeks went to fast thou. Been using your service for over 30 years and all properties were excellent. Thanks again. Maurice

"Lovely house, great location and good facilities for a family holiday."
My only complaint was that the BBC TV coverage could become completely un-watchable some evenings for no apparent reason.
-
"Property was amazing, best we ever stayed in, will definitely book again."
Was very clean and had all we needed, beds very comfy too. Only thing was that freezer didn't work properly.
-
"Great house and garden."
Can’t fault it only things that key it down are the horrid pink ripped cushions, black cushions and ripped and dusty pink lamp in living room. We will be back hopefully next year. Glad to see the mattress in main bedroom was changed and we slept like logs until 6 am every day and again would advise a blind or black out curtains in main front bedroom. Otherwise perfect

"Fridge is too small - it’s about a quarter of a normal under counter fridge volume and I couldn’t even put my milk in the door!"
There is no freezer. Downstairs heating in ineffective for some reason, downstairs was freezing but upstairs was hot. Pillows are pathetic and need replacing with proper ones. Curtains need lining as they act as privacy but don’t make the room dark. Overall house was not set up for the number of people it could sleep. Driveway access is very poor - the gateway is a real pinch point and should be widened or a warning placed on the listing. I almost had to park elsewhere!

"The cottage was overall was clean & tidy with the exception of the carpet as previously mentioned needing a good clean."
Also PREVIOUSLY mentioned (for over TWO YEARS now) the fridge is TOO small to allow self catering and the freezer compartment is frozen solid not working correctly. (Not everyone wants to eat out). There is sufficient pots and pans etc. with a very good cooker for customers wanting to self catering in these “cost of living crisis” time. I would suggest that if the owner gave one weeks rent, they could afford to have the carpet cleaned and the fridge replaced with something more suitable. I personally would not recommend renting this cottage until the point previously mentioned are rectified. One other small point (which) cannot be rectified, is the towel rails were all very low. OK for children or small adults!!!

"Property was in a lovely location, near to town centre and beach."
Unfortunately lots of niggles, filthy carpets, blocked shower in en suite ( which had been mentioned in visitor book the previous week! ) We ended up buying drain unblocker ourselves. Dirty and ripped cushions. Inadequate glassware. Very flat pillows. Lots of light bulbs not working. En-suite shower is so loud it can be heard downstairs ( it would worry me if in my home). Windows filthy. Tv needs updating. Inadequate fridge and freezer box not working. And NO recycling facilities!!
-
"Very tight parking which could be easily resolved by widening the entrance."
Shower tray backs up in the en suite. Carpets a little grubby No hairdryer in arrival, very quickly resolved by the agents, many thanks for that. But, the house is in an ideal location and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

"What a lovely house."
Spacious, clean, and perfect location. The house had everything you needed including a lovely garden and patio. Very quiet area as well considering its only a few minutes from the harbour. Its lovely for a family as you are still able to have your own space. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything, if you wanted to cook and it was great to have a washing machine as well . They even had an ironing board / iron and clothes horse. The owners have thought of everything so that the holidaymakers can just relex and have a lovely holiday.. Will certainly be booking this property again.

"I was shocked of the amount of stains on the carpet especially as my first impression is important to me."
I managed to clean a few whilst staying there without any effort. The front door really needs addressing, there were a few ripped items eg lamp shade, missing handles. This property cost a substantial amount for some reason to stay ( other property we stayed at up the road was £300 less..but as my Husband booked it it was out of my hands. Looked up your property for next year, price has dropped down?? The smell in the house was very pleasant indeed, a very well stocked hospitality bowl. The beds were very comfortable but the pillows were too soft.

"Location 5 star."
Beds comfortable, sofa and armchair comfortable but old. Very dated in decor and furniture. Dirty carpets and grubby cushion covers. (Too many cushions.) Duvets too heavy for summer months. Needs darker curtains in main bedroom. Fridge too small, driveway entrance too narrow. Front door sticks, lock not secure. No key for porch door. Insufficient information on recycling and bin use. No welcome pack, toiletries; only 2 dishwasher tabs. provided. All these things have been mentioned by other users. This has a luxury price but is only 3 star accommodation in our opinion. Still, while it is fully booked I guess no changes will be made.
-
"Few small things need repair."
Main bedroom wardrobe handle, front door knocker etc. small bedroom no hanging space, possibly put a rail on wall. Fridge too small. Not owners fault but cooking pans were left dirty. Apart from these issues we enjoyed our week though thank you.
-
"We really enjoyed our stay at Casa Carmen - it was within walking distance of the town and eateries which is helpful as parking is difficult and my husband cannot walk far."
If we came to Weymouth again we would definitely stay here - it was quiet, warm and cosy and beautifully decorated with comfortable beds - what more could you ask? Thank you for such a lovely cottage.
-
"The property was very dusty and we felt we left it in a better state than it was in when we arrived."
The bathroom window in the en-suite does not lock and the double bed mattress needs changing as far too soft and gave me back ache but I then slept in a single bed which was a little firmer. We also noticed when flushing toilets and running taps a noise occurred which was quite loud and needs looking at. We would stay again as great location.
-
"Really home from home love staying there no problem at all"
-
"Casa Carmen was excellent, clean and comfortable with everything we needed."
Good outside space for warm days and evenings. Clear instructions for check in and a slight issue with the hot water on the first morning was quickly resolved. The location is ideal probably 500 yards from Brewers Quay, the Harbour and pubs and restaurants, and in walking distance of the Esplanade and Beach.

"Lovely house."
Close to all amenities. Would have been good to have had a cot and high chair, and also a bigger fridge. Otherwise it was great.
-
"Great location the garden and upstairs of the property was great."
Downstairs, could do with a better seating area, a larger sofa and get rid of the rocking chair. Fridge is too small for a family staying at the house, and really lets the property down. The driveway is very narrow and it's difficult to get a car over the stones.
-
"Fridge freezer too small for families."
Freezer compartment frozen solid.Unit needs renewing.Shower unit backing up.
-
"Beautiful house and a great location."
Needs a larger fridge/freezer and the drive way is a bit of a tight fit for a large car. But we had a lovely weeks holiday.
-
"A nice house in quiet and convenient area but broken dishwasher, small fridge that needed defrosting and plumbing in need of overhaul."
-
"Overall a good location for Weymouth harbour, etc."
Clean and comfortable. Met most of our requirements. A couple of minor issues were with the extremely small fridge and barely room for freezing food. The icebox in this also frosted up and made even less space. The en suite shower backed up and the water did not drain well. The water pipes/tank made a good deal of noise (whistling) and we had to turn on taps to relieve the pressure and stop the noise. The TV was rather basic and could be either upgraded or offset by a DVD player. In bad weather this would be an asset. The gravel driveway was problematic as the wheels on our car could not grip and resulted in one of us having to push the car onto the drive to park it.
-
"Dishwasher passed it's best so had to hand wash most of pots."
No freezer so had to use some of the frozen Tesco items delivered very quikly. No oven gloves found so used towels instead. Still a lovely property in a very convenient position so will probably book again.
-
"Fantastic property in great location close to harbour and amenities."
Exceptionally clean and everything provided that you need in a self catering property. Wouldn't hesitate to say here again.
-
"Nice cosy house, but let down by level of equipment in kitchen."
Dishwasher was small, it leaked water over the kitchen floor, and most fundamentally, didn't get dishes clean. A good working dishwasher is a must have for our holidays as we don't want to end up doing hand washing on holiday ! Also the fridge was too small for four people. We did complain on day one that the dishwasher wasn't working, it was looked at, and we simply got a message that the dishwasher was old and we should put the dishwasher tablet in the cutlery tray. We tried that but still couldn't even get tea cups properly clean. Otherwise a nice house in a very convenient location.

"The accommodation was very well presented, clean, tidy, comfortable and well equipped."
Will definitely return another year. However, there were a few minor maintenance issues. The front outside light did not work, nor did the shaver light in the rear bathroom. Some of the other lights did not work due to blown bulbs, but there were no spares for us to fit. We ended up borrowing bulbs from some table lamps to fit in other table lamps, and the landing light. The instructions in the house regarding heating were misleading. It said you could adjust the thermostatic radiator valves for optimum comfort, but no thermostatic valves were fitted. The only temperature adjustment was via the room thermostat. This was OK to a point, but the upstair bedrooms ended up much hotter than the downstair living areas, and no way to adjust. This was compounded by the hall radiator not working, and no heating in the ground floor WC. The instructions also said no recycling. But there were two wheely bins and a box. What were they for? Totally confused, we ended up taking our recycling home.

"Ideal walking to old harbour/ shopping area only 15 minutes walk all flat just a little incline to the property."
easy walking reach via public footpath and old railway line to Portland chisel beach area return on the same path to Weymouth via marina. Beds very comfortable and clean
-
"A very clean, comfortable house in walking distance of Weymouth harbour and town."
Be aware that parking on the drive is difficult as the access road is quite narrow.
