"The apartment was absolutely spotless and had everything you would need for a comfortable and relaxing stay."
Just one comment was that although there were plenty of towels provided there were none which were bath sheet size which we would have liked. Such a personal thing which would absolutely not put us off staying again. The property was central and made getting to everything in West Bay very easy and the parking space was a great bonus. We really enjoyed our stay here.

7. We were impressed with the cleanliness we found, and the little extras like hand wash, towels, t-towels, and dog bowl. The dishwasher/ washing machine would be a godsend had we been staying longer. The only niggle we had was the parking was a bit tight, but it didn't spoil our stay.

With lots of extras. The only downfall maintenance on back Windows, double room neither would open, twin room only one would open, main living area could open one partly, but then had difficulty closing it. Which was very disappointing when it was hot and you couldn't let the breeze in. Handle on cupboard was broken but didn't affect use.

"We’ve stayed in West bay dozens of times over the last 50 or so years, it’s our favourite place in the world, but usually in a caravan."
First time in an apartment and really enjoyed our time there, will definitely be back. Not a criticism but maybe change the description in the listing, it’s actually an electric oven not gas, wasn’t a problem.

"No 7 was lovely, one of the handles on a main kitchen cupboard was broken but we swapped it with a less used cupboard so that worked out."
The duvet on the double bed was a double duvet which just came to each side of the bed which meant with two people in the bed there was a lot of tussle over who some duvet.

It was warm and beds and sofas comfortable. The shower and bathroom was adequate and the layout great for families. However there was a lack of kitchen equipment; the microwave door is broken so you have to manually open it, there were no sharp knives, the utensils are inadequate and there isn’t tongs. It would be useful to have some children’s plates/bowls esp as it will appeal to families due to 2 children’s beds. We had a great stay exploring the local area and would recommend! Thanks

The property was spotlessly clean, modern with a well equipped kitchen. The double bed was so comfortable. We were very lucky with the weather. It was a dry sunny week but very very cold. The apartments underfloor heating was amazing. We didn't want to go home. We had a perfect holiday.

Thank you for your feedback. I would like to know why you gave such a low score for facilities and maintenance; was it because the sheets were not changed. Did you request the sheets be changed? There is a washing machine in the apartment. If you felt you would have like the sheets changed, we have left our number to be able to contact us and we could have asked the housekeeper to come in and change them for you. It's always disappointing to receive a low rating when the problem could have been rectified with a phone call. We hope you enjoyed your stay otherwise. Property Owner

"The apartment was excellent, clean and very comfortable to suit the needs of three adults."
However on arrival after a long tiring journey we would have loved a basic welcome pack (tea. coffee, sugar, milk etc), instead after unpacking we then had to find shops before having any refreshments. This is the first holiday accommodation that has been lacking in this area that we have encountered.
In the apartment there is a list of the supermarkets etc, we have a small supermarket 2 minutes from the apartment, which caters for the caravan park so has all the basic needs. We chose not to supply a welcome pack to keep cost down and so that guests can buy there preferred beverages. Guests are welcome to have a supermarket delivery delivered to the apartment on their arrival. Property Owner

Easy walking distance to beach, harbour, magnificent cliff top walks, pubs, shops and all amenities. Easy to take a drive east or west along the coast for runs out, Sidmouth is very good and so is Weymouth and Portland. Would definitely return. M n M

The apartment is situated within two minutes of the harbour and five minutes from the beach and with plenty of places to eat out within a five minute walk makes this a great place to stay.

My one concern, was not being able to adjust the water temperature in the shower and bath. We were told, categorically, by a handwritten note, not to adjust the middle dial of the shower unit. Now that’s ok if it’s adults, but I was bathing a baby. I had to adjust the water myself by getting cold water from the tap in the kitchen and pouring it into the bath. Sounds silly, but we have a bathroom/bedroom routine and if it differs she doesn’t sleep well. I think many parents would feel this way. Otherwise than that. A fantastic place to stay. Just sort the shower out!

We had informed Sykes of the problem we had experienced with the water and had a plumber in to make sure that it was of a temperature for guests to be able to use the facility/shower. We asked Sykes to give you the option of cancelling if this was to be problem and am aware they sent you a message to explain the issue. If you had known of the worry and trouble we had the week before trying to get this sorted. The shower will be fixed but unfortunately being Christmas week, parts are not really available. We left a contact number for you to contact us, we would have talked you through adjusting the water temperature. We did not receive a call. I understand routines for children but cannot see how this would be altered by having to put cold water into a bath from the kitchen. We love our apartment and are disappointed when the feedback is negative as we very much try to make sure our guests enjoy their stay. As of January 2023 there is a new shower at the property. Obviously no sea or harbour view but easy access to parking and apartment.Our son is in a small wheelchair so ok for us but there is limited space in the apartment.In the small bathroom the shower over the bath worked well but there was no caddy for soap, shampoo etc and not easy to get into and better quality towels needed) . Happy with kitchen equipment but no tea pot and coffee maker. Good wifi and and tv. We had a big problem with washing machine as the door wouldn't open (after texting the owner it was explained it had a fault and we managed to get clothes out eventually). I did pass on our comments to the owner so hopefully the improvements will be made to this apartment. Due to lack of a wardrobe for hanging clothes in the smaller bedroom this is only a place for small family with young children not 2 couples.

It was spotlessly clean. The flat was well appointed with all appliances to make life simple. We could walk for 5 mins and we were right on the beach. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this apartment.

It had everything we needed for a wonderful stay, Full kitchen ( Neff appliances, washer, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, iron , clothes airer , WiFi, TV In living room and main bedroom all at a very good holiday let quality. The beds and bedding we found very comfortable and although we had neighbours above us and either side of us as its the summer holidays, we would never have known as didn't hear anything from them through the walls at all ! The location of this Apartment couldn't be more central as everything is within a 5 minute walk. The only slight negative is the view from the lounge window / door. You look at the carpark (but aleast you view your car too) and the back of other apartments, A sea view would've been the icing on the cake , but it's a small price to pay for a perfect little, well decorated holiday let. Westbay is quiet at nightime (apart from the Gulls) with little entertainment except a couple of family pubs / restaurants but that can be a bonus as it felt unbelievably safe to walk around at anytime . Because of Covid we couldn't go on the holiday park to swim or buy passes for the amenities but it didn't matter after all, Plenty of beaches and walks and crabbing to keep occupied. We will definitely visit this let again as a little home from home !

Surfaces hadn't been wiped down and the bedrooms were very dusty. Having spent 5 hours driving down we then had to spend some considerable time bringing it up to an acceptable standard.

I therefore used your specially prepared list of properties that met my needs. My search only revieled one concern, that was the entry door, so I rang Sykes who contacted the owner who said there was no problem. They were wrong and it caused me a daily access problem. However my major problem was the two bedrooms, neither of which was accessible via scooter . Both bedrooms had furniture fitted making access impossible. After much soul searching I needed to remove the footplate from my wheelchair to provide space at floor, then drive to end of the single bed, then carefully lower myself onto the bed. Then I needed to slowly work myself up the bed till I reached the pillows, when my wife would lower the duvet onto me. Getting up in the morning was even more problematic. So in summary this apartment should not have been listed in the ‘disabled’ section and proved to be totally unsuitable for myself, which spoilt my enjoyment totally.
I am sorry you found the apartment was not suitable for your needs, this property is not advertised as suitable for guests with disabilities. We would recomend any guest with special requirements call the Sykes cottages reservations department before booking to check the property is suitable. Bedside lamp had blown bulb. Lack of information on disposal of waste. Waste containers outside clearly stated they were not for holiday let’s but I used them anyway. Clearly the property was not checked for all facilities were working this needs to be remedied,otherwise it was okay

Our first time using apartment 7, felt very homely, the beds where very comfortable and the fact that we didn’t need to take towels or bed linen was such an added bonus. On arrival there was fresh flowers, a bottle of wine, chocolates and biscuits waiting for us plus milk in the fridge!! What a welcome, the weather wasn’t brilliant but We didn’t book that!! I’ve already recommended this accommodation to a friend, we would definitely use this apartment again.

Bridport 1.5 miles; Lyme Regis 11 miles
West Bay, fondly known as “The Gateway to the Dorset Jurassic Coast” and popularised by the TV series Broadchurch, lies close to the glorious sandstone cliffs of Golden Cap, at the western end of the dramatic pebbly Chesil Beach. This is a wonderful seaside location, perfect for family holidays, offering scenic walks along the South West Coast Path, as well as ample opportunities to try your hand at sea fishing, crabbing, boating and golf. Visit the homes of Thomas Hardy and TE Lawrence, the Tank Museum at Bovington or the Naval air Museum at Yeovil.
