  • "A great holiday home with comfortable stylish and practical rooms."

Maybe worth mentioning that the living room is upstairs which may be problematic for some. Parking quite tight and one space is by a garage at end of street. Nice walks to two neighbouring villages along seafront and a nice jumping-off point for many picturesque places....Gatewood of Fleet and Kippford were my favourites.

So pleased you enjoyed your stay and walking to Kippford. The living room upstairs give us great views of the sea. Property Owner

It was a real home from home with everything needed for a self catering holiday. The lovely garden was a great place to sit after a days walking, a real sun trap. The property was clean and very comfortable.

  • "We had a great stay at Millbrook cottage, it's a lovely cottage in a great secluded location."

The garden is a real suntrap, the living room is excellent for chilling in the evening and the kitchen is well equipped with everything you might need. The only slight inconvenience was the temperature control on the upstairs shower was stuck on a scalding temperature so was unusable.

Thanks for your feedback and the garden is a lovely place to relax. Apologies about the shower, unfortunately our plumber was on holiday during your stay. He has been today and fixed the temperature control, so the shower is back in use. Property Owner

The cottage was very clean and extremely well-equipped. No problems whatsoever with parking and everyone we met was extremely friendly.

  • "We loved this cottage, the garden was undersold as its a beautiful suntrap."

The house was very clean but would suggest the mop is kept somewhere other than the cupboard as it started to announce itself. Instructions were clear, precise and very helpful. We struggled with the upstairs shower control so eventually just used the downstairs one ( but this did not spoil the holiday or the enjoyment of the cottage in any way).

Thanks for the feedback, we will move the mop and add some extra instructions about the shower. Really pleased you enjoyed the garden as it’s such a lovely space. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday but a few small problems."

We arrived and parked at the front of the cottage to be told by an angry neighbour that we were not supposed to park there, not a good start to the holiday. There were instructions as to where we should park in the cottage but would have been helpful to have this information before we landed!. We had a problem with the ensuite shower, firstly because it looked broken and we couldn't work out how to use it. We contacted the owner who was very helpful and told us how to turn on the shower. However it was so hot we couldn't stand under it and no way of turning it on to a cooler setting. There is another shower in the main bathroom above the bath but we were 2 separate couples so it was not really convenient for us to use that one. The mattresses are really uncomfortable with springs sticking up in some of them. We all said the same after our 1st night. Some padded mattress covers would make them more comfortable. We had to borrow cushions from the beds to use on the settees as they were very soft and deep and we oldies needed back support. Overall the cottage is very well equipped with everything you need for a self catered holiday. The views across the garden are stunning and the garden is lovely. There are lovely walks all around the area and lots of helpful info as to where to go and where to walk. We recommend The Anchor in Kippford for food. Lovely little coffee shop down at the bottom end of Castle Douglas main street. The Loch at Castle Douglas is very picturesque with a nice circular walk around it.

Thanks for your feedback. We have changed the instructions sent by Sykes about parking so everyone should get information before they arrive. We were pleased to be able to help when you phoned. We have checked out the shower control and temperature, and it is all fine. We’ve had lots of positive comments about the comfortable mattresses, none of which have springs. We do have mattress toppers on all the beds, but we will check this out. We are aware that everyone’s comfort levels are different so there are extra cushions, blankets and pillows for our guests. I’m pleased you enjoyed the garden and your stay. Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely 5 day break at Millbrook cottage."

Very deceptively spacious from the outside and perfect for a family break in a quiet setting but close to the beach and ideal for day trips. Very well equipped and tastefully decorated with nice views and lovely garden space. We were directed by the neighbour to park around the side of the building which was a bit tricky with an injured leg and crutches but was manageable and didn’t affect our stay. Would love to return at some point hopefully without crutches.

We are pleased you had such a lovely stay and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

Couldn’t get the oven to work but the grill was sufficient for our Yorkshire puddings

I’m pleased you enjoyed your stay. Just a reminder that all our guest can contact us about anything during their stay. I’ll ask cleaning services to double check the oven. it is a double oven and all instruction manuals are in a file in the kitchen if you need them. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely time during our stay at Millbrook Cottage."

The house is pleasantly set, well-appointed and comfortable. We had mixed weather (it was March!), but were out all day, every day, enjoying Dumfries and Galloway. The local walks were terrific, particularly along beach and cliffs to Sandyhills. The log burner made for a perfect end to each day. Three of us rattled around what is quite a large house - our adult son had the downstairs ‘wing’ to himself! The dining kitchen downstairs was just right, and the upside down layout made the living area special. Excellent - thank you!

  • "Milburn cottage is beautiful, we had a great Christmas here, parking is a bit awkward as the neighbours asked us to move the cars around a few times but nothing we couldn't sort out, we had to boil a pan to make a cuppa as the kettle didn't work."

Minor details really as the beauty of this place really is amazing. It has everything you could possibly need, a real home from home. We are looking to book again in the summer.

We are so pleased you had a lovely Christmas at the cottage, it is such a beautiful part of the world. We have replaced the kettle and are always happy to replace faulty things (and we can do this during the stay). We look forward to welcoming you back in the summer. Property Owner

That’s said we would recommend the cottage to others.

Thank you for your feedback. We arranged a plumber as soon as possible, and he was able to call whilst you were in the property. The shower has now been fixed and all the problems resolved. Just to clarify there is parking for 2 cars off-road, with further on-street parking. Information about parking can be found in the property manual in the cottage.
