  • "We had a very good and comfortable stay."

The property owner (and husband) were very helpful, everything was well organized. The cottage is well maintained, great location with an elevated position and beautiful views across the bay.

Very nice touch leaving a couple bottles of wine, Hebriden toffee and biscuits.

  • "Seaview was an extremely comfortable and well-equipped home for our week-long stay on Barra."

A perfect location and stunning view of the sheltered inlets of the coastline of North Bay. The owners live on the island and are very helpful and friendly.

  • "The property is lovely!"

It is really comfortable, very nicely decorated, and everything you need is there. We stayed with our 6 year old son and he really enjoyed the house. We would stay here again if we visit Barra again.

  • "The cottage was a fantastic base for touring the island."

There were 6 adults in our group and we had plenty of space. Everything we needed was provided and the views were simply outstanding. 2 of our party were elderly (80+), so having everything on one level was great. The host was lovely. All the information was clear and we were even able to get in early. Everything was ust perfect.

  • "Wonderful cottage!"

Light and spacious with amazing views. Excellent location. Loved the little gate that leads to the nearby pub/restaurant. The only negative - 2 of the rooms had little storage space for hanging clothes. Drawers were available though but we would prefer hanging space. There were 3 of us in the 3 bedroom space so didn't matter too much for us personally. It certainly woudn't put us off returning. We were very sad to be leaving :(

  • "Place was awesome."

really clean, and comfortable. 3 showers, 4 toilets, plenty of hot water. right next to a pub / restaurant if in a pinch for a bottle of wine to pair with all the seafood from Barra Atlantic (a 3 minute drive away). Ask the hosts about cockles, with any luck they'll be in season and you can go down to the sands and rake some yourself :)

  • "We enjoyed a most lovely stay."

The cottage is comfortable and well appointed. The view to the front was especially pleasing with a view to the water, islets and and fingers of land. Well placed for exploring. The nearby community cafe and garden was a great treat where we were made most welcome. Our stay on Barra had much to recommend it backed by knowing we were coming back to Seaview and the home comforts it provided.

The sea views from the slightly elevated position are wonderful whatever the weather, this was our first visit to Barra and we loved it Thank you.

  • "Seaview is a lovely place from which to experience Barra."

The views are amazing, you can watch the changing scenery for hours. It’s a comfortable stay. We were a party of 4, and the spare room provided that extra bit of storage and the walk in power shower that the older members of our party appreciated. Kitchen is excellent. Take some essentials for the first couple of days and enjoy cooking in a very well equipped kitchen. Once you find the Co-op you can stock up the fridge and freezer. We stayed early in the season and enjoyed the limited access to the neighbouring hotel. We would certainly return and recommend this property as an excellent base from which you can explore this beautiful island.

This property was a great find and suits the family group we were with. Each room has its own en-suite and this is a massive benefit and em rate to find in other similar properties. The view from front windows is simply breathtaking . Hopefully be back again next year .

All bedrooms are ensuite and the kitchen and lounge are are very comfortable. House is very well equipped. Kitchen is large and we could all sit down for dinner together. I would recommend this house as a very comfortable place to stay in Northbay. There’s a path down to Heathbank hotel which is also a lovely place to have dinner or drinks. A perfect location. • "The house is beautiful."

Very clean. Great location. May I suggest that there are few additions. In kitchen oven gloves, tongs, egg cups, toast rack. Matches and box tissues. Hooks behind bathroom doors to hang items and perhaps somewhere to hang clothes in twin room and red room. I will consider staying in the house again and recommend to others

  • "Posting this on our last evening at Seaview."

We have had a super week here as a family. Lovely and chilled, with fabulous views thrown in. The house was perfect in everyway. It was lovely to receive a wee welcome of Hebridean toffee, wine and a candle when we arrived too. The toffee was delicious so much so we stocked up for going home. The owners were super helpful even delivering supper when we had a powercut. (Didn’t last long!). We’re going to miss Barra but hopefully will get to visit again sometime. Thank you for a lovely holiday. David, Marilyn, Scott, Naomi and Abigail. ?

  • "Two weeks wasn’t enough."

We loved our time on Barra and Seaview was the perfect base to enjoy it from. Very comfortable cottage, spotlessly clean with wonderful views out over Northbay. Barra was definitely much quieter due to Covid but there was still a warm welcome to be had, especially so from Jannette. Thoroughly recommend Barra Surf Adventures.

  • "A truly wonderful cottage with everything we needed."

A fabulous welcome pack. Sadly our holiday was cut short due to me breaking my ankle and needing surgery. Janette the owner was so understanding and kind. Please pass on our thanks and huge gratitude. We met some wonderful people on the island and so hope we can return in the near future.

The property

Eriskay 9.3 miles.

Overlooking a scattering of rocky shores, submerged in clear blue water, the magical wilderness of the remote Isle of Barra is captured perfectly by Seaview, settled near Northbay on the Isle of Barra in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland.

Perfect for families or groups of adults, this single-storey renovated seaside cottage boasts amazing views and stunning wildlife right outside your window and of course a wonderful contemporary base for your highland adventure.

White sand and breath-taking scenery welcome you to the ample off-road parking, allowing easy unpacking and a hint of the beautiful landscape surrounding the property.

You will be drawn to the homely sitting room where you can put your feet up and enjoy a family games night, warmed by the electric fire stove that sits into a splendid slate fireplace, and a selection of sofas looking out over the bay.

If you enjoyed the décor of the sitting room, you would love the fully furnished kitchen, a great place to indulge in local produce and cook up a storm, presenting your masterpiece upon the central dining table.

With each bedroom sporting an en-suite shower room, there is no lack of opulence, and with each room styled to an individual accent colour, blue for the king-size, red for the double and purple for the twin, it is clear that time and effort has been put aside to focus on the little bits to make your stay enjoyable.

Perhaps these properties most eye-catching factor is the garden, where you will find not only a lawn area, but a decking balcony with seating, giving a panoramic view of the bay that will captivate your adventurous side, whilst allowing you to sip your morning coffee as you watch otters and seals floating about in the bay.

If you can take yourself away from the amazing views, then there is no shortage of wonder, with cycle tracks on long, quiet roads weaving through the beautiful countryside, past turquoise waters and sandy bays, perfect for afternoon walks, picnics and kayaking.

The nearby town of Castlebay will offer you refreshments, with the Castlebay Bar, and a local convenience store, as well as the spectacular Kisimul Castle, submerged in water when the tide is in and adding a magical feel to the quaint seaside village, as well as an airport, with planes landing directly onto the sand!

The wildlife of the island is equally as stunning, with the opportunity to see seals and otters in the bay, as well as boat trips to the now uninhabited Mingulay which has become a world-renowned nesting colony for sea birds.

Get the ferry to Ardmhor or take an exiting flight from Glasgow to Castlebay, landing on the beach! Breath-taking scenery, small villages and magical historical sites, there is something for everyone to enjoy with a stay at Sea View.
