  • "Property extremely comfortable and warm."

Bed was good and again very comfortable. Very impressed with the quality of cutlery and crockery. The only thing on the downside was after a 322 mile journey there were no toilet rolls? No shops in the area to buy anything and had to travel approximately 25 miles to find an open shop on a Sunday.

  • "A lovely cottage in a stunning location."

We enjoyed the dramatic landscape and warm comfortable accommodation. It’s about 10 mins walk along the loch shore to Torridon village with a good community store. The Wi-Fi is fine in the lounge and you can stream programs on the TV. Would recommend providing a second drying rack - perhaps even a heated one. Had a great time exploring the local area and would love to return.

Many thanks for your kind words. Thank you for the suggestion of a second drying rack. Property Owner

  • "A well-equipped cottage in a stunning location."

Lovely to have a herd of deer at the front and highland cows to the rear. Very nice to be able to stroll down to the loch, or continue on to the village. Garden nice and secure for the dog. I agree with a previous reviewer that the property really needs a tumble drier or at the least an indoor drying rack. The weather was not good when we stayed and, travelling with children, I needed to get a few items washed and dried. Please be aware when booking that this is in a pretty remote location. 8 miles to the nearest garage, over 40 miles to the nearest town and vets. I made the mistake when booking this of simply looking at the apparent proximity of places like Skye and Ullapool on the map, not considering for one minute that the roads to get there, meandering past lochs and over mountains meant that what would be a 30 minute journey where I live in Devon is a 90 minute one from Torridon.

  • "The Cottage is so nice."

Some of the “decorative upgrades” are inappropriate to the nature of the cottage. The large bedroom mirrors are especially inappropriate

  • "Of course the cottage and its setting are glorious."

The beds were comfortable, the rooms were spacious and the heating was easily controllable. The walk-in shower was fantastic, with lashings of hot water. The kitchen had everything one might need. The dining and living areas were large and comfy - just about everything was perfect. I have two suggestions. The listing is quite clear that logs and kindling are not supplied, but for the price charged, I feel it would not be unreasonable to have 3 or 4 logs at the fire-side to allow folks to get settled on their first night. The other issue is with the internet. Download speeds of around 0.2Mb/s were the best achieved. OK - people aren't coming to Torridon to sit on their computers, but we had hoped to do some "working from home" in the evenings and that proved impossible. I think this should be more explicit in the listings. Or better still - more realistic speeds are available in the area and I'd have thought NTS properties would have done better.

Thank you for your feedback about Stalkers Cottage. We have an ongoing project at the moment to upgrade the Wifi at our 60+ properties, this is proving quite difficult at some locations but we are finding solutions with our Internet providers. Hopefully if you come to stay with us in the future you will be able to see the difference. Property Owner

  • "It's an excellent cottage, but I'd stayed here 5 years ago and there have been some changes since then."

Among them: -The bath has been replaced by a shower. A shower is desirable, but so is a bath. Surely both can be installed? -Last time there were beds for 5 people. Now there are four. Please bring back the twin beds in the second bedroom. -The double bed is too small. Replace it with a wider one please. -The push button front door lock needs adjusting so that it opens more easily without injuring one's knuckles.

Many thanks for your feedback. We have made some changes since your last stay, and the property was refurbished last year. The shower was installed about 4 years ago so it is not cost effective for the charity to change this in the near future but we do review the comments when we plan any future work. We do clearly advertise how many bedrooms we have and what size of bed they are . We do have a bed being delivered when we have a window in the bookings so that we can install it. We provide a key for the cottage so that you don't need to use the push button lock. Thank you for the suggestion about the bird table and the Ranger will arrange for a new one to be supplied. • "This is a very nice cottage in a beautiful and peaceful location."

The house is comfortable with a well equipped kitchen, wood burning stove and very good shower. Unfortunately the mattress in the double bedroom needs replacing and is very uncomfortable. Also, the WiFi signal is poor and drops out regularly and this also affects the TV.

Many thanks for your feedback about Stalkers Cottage. We have noted your comments about the mattress, this was new just over 2 years ago so we will check it to see if there is a problem. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee the wifi signal will always be strong given the location and distance from exchange. Only Inverness at the moment has fibre. Property Owner

  • "We stayed at the cottage for two weeks over Christmas and New Year."

We really, really enjoyed it! Our dog loved the entclosed garden. One has just to step out the door and can walk to the shore of Loch Torridon and take the path to the village. Breathtaking views from all windows. The deer are so very close and after asking the ranger we could feed them. Such a wonderful experience! The cottage is beautifully decorated, the beds are comfy, the kitchen well equipped, it is warm... The wood burners workes as they should do. So we had lots of cosy winter evenings. All people we met while walking the dog had been sooo very nice. Especially the neighbors were very kind, helpful and friendly. All in one, not only the cottage and the breathtaking scenery made our holidays at this cottage unforgettable but the people as well.

  • "We really enjoyed our three week stay."

Everything was 'ship shape' and the couple - Andrew and his wife - changed bedding, towels etc, which was fine. If anything had to be said, then they are just wee trifles. A) a small tray in the shower, for holding soap and shampoo, would nae go amiss. B) my wife - and this is a little 'heavier' on the budget - though that a clothes drier might come in handy. Apart frrom that, everything was perfect. Thankyou one and all for making our stay so enjoyable. Yours aye - Julian Hutchings

  • "Fantastic location and a cottage with character."

Had everything you needed (except replacement bins bags and bins have to be emptied a good half mile away) beds were comfortable, powerful shower, good sized bedrooms. Garden was fully fenced in which was great for the dog - although he and the deer (it surrounded by a deer farm) kept playing who is the toughest starer competition! Wi-Fi intermittent and no phone signal . Had a very enjoyable week.

  • "2 rings on the cooker hob did not work, we did report this to the warden and the installation manual for the cooker was for a different make and model."

When we used the washing machine, it did not take the soap powder into the drum so had to stop machine and add it manually. I think this is an old problem as we found soap powder that had clumped into a solid lump in the dispenser when we 1st tried to use it. Otherwise beds and other facilities fine. Front door lock a little tricky to work at first but fine when you get the hang of it. Beautiful scenery all around but sadly spoilt by the persistent rain.
