  • "We had a very lovely time here."

Team was quick to respond to us as well and issues were resolved in a timely manner. Very lovely property in a very good location. The sunset and sunrise here is simply amazing. 5* on amenities. Provided more than sufficient. We will be back again.

  • "Really nice house, in a great location."

Perfect for visiting the island. Ignore the comments about cleanliness, the house and garden were spotless. The hot tub is a nice feature, just a shame about the English weather. Only one small suggestion, there could be more recommendations for places to eat/drink and visit in the info book.

  • "The house was in a lovely location lovely sea views."

It was advertised as having a hot tub but this was not so.The swim spa was dirty round the sides had to clean it before getting in and there was sand on the bottom.Disappointed there was no welcome basket for paying £5,400 felt this was not worth that.

Thank you for your feedback and we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with a couple of aspects of the house. The website does state we offer a hheated swim spa/hot tub with jets allowing for swimming and other exercises, with seating area for 6. This offers the same temperature as a hot tub and most guests thoroughly enjoy this ( the picture on the website show the swim spa/hot tub ) It is a shame that you didn't contact us about any dirt around the sides as we could have assisted with this straight away Thank you again for your feedback Property Owner

  • "On arrival the house is impressive."

It’s obviously spacious and well designed. However, the initial impression didn’t last long. Our excitement at arriving was massively tempered when we saw there were dead plants in plant pots in several of the bathrooms and the garden the planters were all dead. Plus the garden area was really dirty - there were cobwebs and plant waste around the garden and the patio had stains across it as well as there being food waste left on the grass. Obviously we are aware there was a drought in place but leaving entire planters with dead and dusty planters added to the unloved and shabby look of the garden area. And then there was no welcome pack at all. Not even a packet of biscuits or pint of milk. The kitchen is impressive looking, however there weren’t enough plates, cups and crockery settings for all of us, given that with a dishwasher you should have a minimum of 2 per person. Because whole drawers were given over to the owners spices and sauces and etc it felt very much as if we were in an Airbnb rather than a dedicated holiday home. All the things above made the place feel much less special and to be honest we were all pretty disappointed. However the biggest issue was the ‘fourth bedroom’. This was not actually a bedroom. It was an office with a pull out double bed which was like sleeping on a rock. The room was not furnished to be a bedroom - there was no bedroom chair, no dressing table or mirror and nowhere to put a suitcase. You couldn’t even pull the blinds down without standing on the rock hard bed. My daughter had to sleep there and even sleeping with three duvets under her we had to go and buy a mattress topper to make it a comfortable room. This is not a proper bedroom and she slept badly all week. My mother in law, who had paid for this trip as an 80th birthday treat to her family, was bitterly disappointed and felt like we’d been let down. To add insult to injury on the last three days the neighbour was having work done and the fence/gate was taken down so that our dog had to be guarded when in the garden and the noise and dust from power tools meant it was impossible to sit in the garden during the day. We loved the location and the size of the house but we did come away feeling very ripped off. When we communicated with your company initially about this booking, we were told that the owner sets the price, but I do feel that your job as agents is to mediate and to check that the house is good value. For around £600 a night for a three bed with ‘add on’ bedroom, I can tell you that this is not good value. For that rate we expected it to be slick and luxurious rather than a basic level. The fundamental principle of a good’s night sleep should be met as a minimum. When you are stretching yourself to afford something this special it is so disappointing to walk into a home that felt like it had been uninhabited and unloved for months. To then be unable to guarantee a proper bedroom for one of the party was really unacceptable.

Thank you for your feedback. This is very out of character for the property. I am sorry about the plants in the property and the garden area. This has been fedback to the maintenance team and should not have been like this for your stay. We dont offer a welcome pack and many cottages are the same. We do provide enough cutlery and crockery for everyone in the house to use at the same time however there are no surplus so these will need to be washed between courses. We do take this on board and thank you for raising this for the future. The property is as advertised on the description and the photos. Sykes. We do take on board your points but have not had this feedback before regarding the bedrooms. I am sorry about the noise that the neighbours made. We were not aware that any of this work was being completed and if we had been, we would have informed you straight away As soon as you informed us, we contacted the neighbours and this stopped The property is in a residential area and we cant be responsible for any work completed but had we known, we would have asked this to be delayed until your stay was over as we understand the importance of enjoying your holiday. I hope you enjoyed both the swimming spa and hot tub during the heat wave, and the beach that is just two minutes walk from the property. You called and asked for more fans and we had five new ones for your family within an hour. Aquanaut is a very popular property, especially during the summer months and receives excellent feedback. I am sorry about the issues you have raised. Your comments are very important to us. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely week at Aquanaut."

Although pricey, the property was probably actually better than the online description and the stunning sunsets were incredible - could be seen from the garden, ground floor and upstairs sitting room. The kids had a great time in the hot tub and enjoyed the toys in the house. Bedroom space was good, though the ground floor double is not nearly as nice as the other bedrooms. We walked or cycled to the nearby beach in Gurnard (though it's a steep hill!), and had lovely cycles along the beach front into Cowes. Overall a very nice villa, though we felt it was probably over-priced.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, it means so much and we are really pleased to hear how much fun your family had and enjoyed the view from all levels of the house and garden. A hot tub with a view too, it's lovely. I've spoken to Sykes and just had a price review, they are always looking to be price competitive, so thank you for your notes. I will add more notes on good paths to walk and cycle along; great to hear that you enjoyed the seaside esplanade into Cowes. We love it too. Property Owner

  • "Just spent a lovely week with the family at the superb Aquanaut in the beautiful Isle of Wight."

The house is very modern and has all the facilities and equipment you need. The modern kitchen is really well equipped and we wanted for nothing. The inside/outside living spaces are fabulous and the house has been cleverly designed around the views of the sea in the distance. The house is very nicely located in a quiet road in Gurnard, just a five minute drive to West Cowes and the small stoney beach is just five minute walk away. Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house and we would thoroughly recommend it.

Thank you so much for your lovely comments, it means a lot to us. The inside-outside living is the very essence of Villa Aquanaut, the area is so beautiful to enjoy. Many thanks for taking the time to write a note. Property Owner

  • "The price we paid for what we got felt too high."

For this price, I would have expected some more basics including: a wine bottle opener, dishwasher tablets, a tea pot. I also hadn’t realised until after booking that checkout was at 9am, which felt very early, particularly for how much we paid. The cleaning person then showed up before 9am making us feel very rushed to get out of the house - not a great feeling when you are trying to have a relaxing break. Other elements of the house were very nice.

Thank you for your stay, it sounded like you had a good time but was disappointed in missing dish washing tablets, tea pot and wine opener. I would be too, and all those items are stocked at all times. The John Lewis kitchen has drawers in a drawer, and if you are not used to it you may have missed it and that is where the three wine openers are. First time I was in the kitchen I couldn't find my tea spoon drawer, so I made a note of the spoons for the guest book and the other utensils is in a drawer on the left side of the cooker. I will make sure I make a note of the other drawer too in the guest book, the utility room has a Japanese tea pot with bamboo handle and an espresso machine. The dish washing tablets are next to the laundry detergent, and the whole shelf is stocked with cleaning products. I wish you would have given me a ping, instead of being frustrated. I am so sorry you felt upset, when all items were available, I really wished you had a wholesome happy holiday stay. The whole kitchen is set-up with cooking items, and baking and BBQing, we love to do all of those things. The house is set-up to have a big family dinner in, so I have left it with big serving plates, cake stands and of course salad bowls. The check-out time of 9am, I'm again sorry that you were taken by surprise. It is on Sykes, in an email after the booking and in the guest book upon arrival. I am not sure how I can improve the visibility of the check-out time. Of course it is not fun to be surprised and be rushed on your holiday, I am sorry you felt that. It takes six to seven hours to clean the whole house, the balcony, the two outdoor areas, the garden area, empty the hot tub and clean and refill the hot tub, its a big job for the housekeeping team to make sure the house is sparkling clean for you when you arrive. We will review what we can do to with the check-in times, we may shift the time to a later check-in time instead but please be kind to the housekeeping team; they are doing a lovely job.
