The property

This delightful terraced cottage is situated in the Kent village of Chartham, only a short distance from Canterbury.

This 19th century railwayman's cottage has been lovingly restored and beautifully furnished with lots of wooden furniture to reflect the Victorian period, including the cupboards in the kitchen.

With one large, attractive double bedroom and views over the well-established rear garden, along with fields where sheep and goats graze, this Chartham cottage is the perfect choice for couples looking for a romantic break.

The sunny bedroom also benefits from an en-suite bathroom, complete with a roll-top, claw foot bath; just the place for a long soak after a day exploring Canterbury, which is only three miles away.

The sitting room is warm and cosy at any time of year, with its woodburner to relax in front of, or guests can enjoy dinner with a glass of wine or two and watch the evening sun disappear over the garden through the French doors.

To explore Kent, this Chartham cottage is in the perfect location, with road and rail links close by, in fact the railway station is just a five minute walk away, and you can be in the heart of Canterbury before you know it, and without having to take the car!

Alternatively, guests could choose to walk or cycle along the Stour Valley Walk which follows the river from Chartham all the way into Canterbury, followed by a visit to Canterbury Cathedral after lunch, a trip down the river and then can enjoy a meal in one of the many restaurants, before taking your seats at the theatre in the evening.

However you choose to spend your days, this charming Chartham cottage is a wonderful place to return to.

CHARTHAM

Canterbury 3 miles; Chilham 3 miles; Ashford 8 miles; Whitstable 10 miles; Dover 18 miles.

Located on the Great Stour River and within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the pretty village of Chartham is perfectly situated for visitors looking to explore the countryside and towns in north Kent. Set halfway between Canterbury to the east and Chilham to the west and only a short distance to the A28, Chartham has always been a popular place to stay. Village life is thriving in this Kent village, with a Farmers’ Market held every Thursday in the village hall. Here you can find local produce, from homemade bread to freshly laid eggs, this is just the place to gather the things you need for a truly locally sourced picnic! The village green is the heart of the village, along with the listed 15th century timber-framed public house and the 13th century Saxon church famed for its bells and brasses. Events are arranged every month by the residents and guests can find out more by strolling down to the local shop where the ‘Parish Magazine’ can be found. The beautiful village of Chilham is only 3 miles away and many will recognise it from such TV programmes as ‘Miss Marple’ or the film ‘Emma’, along with many other films and TV programmes. The village has cobbled, quaint streets and 18th century pubs and is a lovely place and defiantly worth a visit, not many Kent villages can boast their own Castle, but Chilham can! With Chartham having its own railway station, travelling around Kent without a car is not a problem to visitors here! In just a few minutes you can be in Canterbury without worry of parking the car. There are also rail links to London and Ashford, so why not come to Chartham and start to really explore this lovely part of Kent?
