  • "We have just had the most relaxing week away at this cottage."

Everything was perfect and the property was very well maintained and a very high standard of cleanliness. We were later arriving than we said we would be thanks to M6 holdups, and we had a phone call from the owner to make sure everything was OK which was a lovely personal touch (he had even put the lights on in the cottage for us). Would highly recommend and we are certainly going to book again.

Everything was perfect and I wouldn't hesitate to book again or recommend to friends/family. The cottage is very clean and well equipped with everything you could need. Great view from the living room window and a really nice spot to sit out in the sunshine at the front. I really appreciated the milk, eggs, tea and coffee which I found on arrival - lovely touch. Can't wait to return - thank you for everything!

  • "Personally think 10am check out is a little early."

The sofas have seen their day I think, not a great deal of support in them. Also I know it's a barn conversion, just found quite alot of cobwebs/dust especially around windows/window sills and found 4 in the shower. All in all though they are beautifully designed cottages and the views from upstairs are amazing! Kitchen it fully equipped with everything you could need and a little hot drinks hamper so you're able to make a brew when you get there is a lovely welcome touch. Loved watching the chickens run around, considering the cottages are on a working farm, it's very peaceful and quiet still. Would definitely come back in the future.

Thank you for your honest feedback and your suggestions regarding our sofas, these have now been replaced as part of our ongoing maintenance of our cottages and hope that future guests find the furniture more supportive. Your comments regarding cobwebs and dust have been noted and action taken to positively seek out the problem before the arrival of our guests in the future. Property Owner

  • "The shower and bath were excellent; there were a number of detail touches to make the stay welcoming."

There is an ironing board, hair dryer, there was a bit of coffee, some eggs and milk to get us started. Really appreciated the thoughtfulness. A pretty place. We loved the living space upstairs with a high ceiling and the cosy bedroom downstairs. There is also a small table and a few chairs to sit outside and enjoy the views. Good quality wifi all over and and TV in the living area. We are used to a more firm mattress. Hope to return.

  • "This cottage was the best equipped cottage we have used in many years."

It had everything we needed and also we were told where supplies were kept so that if anything ran out we could replenish them. There was also a very welcome basket of essentials provided so a cuppa was available without even unpacking the car! The owner was friendly and lives on site. She gave us some local information since all leaflets had been removed from the property due to the pandemic and told us to ring her mobile if we needed anything or information. We hope to return to this property again.

  • "I booked the cottage on the recommendation of your admin on "CHAT"."

I asked for a cottage with a kingsized bed and 2 bathrooms. Horseshoe Cottage, near Wigton ref. 921599 was offered to me. I read the description on the website and although the heading said TWO bathrooms the blurb only mentioned one, so I phoned to clarify. I was assured that there were TWO bathrooms so I booked the cottage. When we arrived we discovered that there was only ONE bathroom and more importantly only ONE toilet. I asked for two as we need two for medical reasons! I immediately phoned Sykes office and was assured that the matter would be looked into and I would be kept informed! I learned later from the cottage owner that she had been contacted by Sykes and was blamed for giving Sykes wrong information! I was sent an email with a complaints reference number but other than that I have had no contact from your company. During the holiday, a few days after I had complained I checked the description again on the website and even then it had NOT been amended and was still advertised as having TWO bathrooms. And amazingly (or perhaps not) it is still advertised as having 2 bathrooms now 19:17 on 05/09/2019. We will have been home for one week tomorrow. I am not at all satisfied with the service you provide, My gradings are all connected with this issue. The cottage itself was comfortable but the problems and discomfort caused by having to queue for the toilet canceled this out for us. The facilities were not as advertised ie only one bathroom not two, so this also accounted for my low rating. However, if someone was to rent it and only require the one bathroom the place would be ideal with no problems.

The cottage was really well provisioned lovely location and the upside down nature gave beautiful access to the views. Great place to use as a base for both the lakes, further north and into Scotland, would recommend the cottage as would its regular visitors listed in the comment book.
