"We booked Skiddaw Heights knowing that it had a washing machine."
This is because we needed it with a 18 month old and a 3 year old who get through clothes quickly. By Tuesday we had run out of clean clothes for the 18 month old. We attempted to use the washer which was totally dead. We called you and you advised to check the power supply. We used another socket and changed the fuse. The machine was still unusable. You advised us to leave the key in the box and someone would come out that day. We returned at 4pm to find no one had been. We phoned again and you advised that an engineer would be out later or the following day. No one ever came and we ended up at Keswick laundry services. I estimate we paid you £16.85 an hour for the time we spent as Skiddaw Heights and we spent at least 4 hours sorting out washing because we did not get what we paid for. Therefore I'll leave you to work out how much you should compensate us for. It's a real pity that you did not sort this sorry mess out, because other than that we thought the accommodation was fine. We would certainly return on the assurance that you could supply what you had sold including the ability to wash our babies clothes.

"The property is ideally located on the edge of Keswick with easy access to the rest of the Lakes."
There is a Spar shop/garage within walking distance as well as a pub. The property itself has fantastic views over Keswick and the fells and the sunsets are quite spectacular. There are a number of things that vary between the Sykes listing and the folder of information included in the property (eg check out times are different) and the waste collection didn't go to plan. We put all 3 wheelie bins at the bottom of the very steep drive on Monday evening as instructed, however only two were collected. The final one (plastics/tins/glass) was only collected 3 days later after I contacted Sykes to report the issue. If this bin had been collected previously it wouldn't have been a problem, however by the time we had added our recycling for the 3 days of our stay up until that point, the bin was full. Only one of the upstairs bedrooms has curtains which means that the other two get very light very early in the morning. It wasn't a problem for some of our party who sleep with eye masks, but for others it meant a natural wake up call at around 4am. The IKEA bags for the laundry at the end of your stay are falling apart which made things a bit difficult on our final morning, and we found the microwave to be extremely temperamental. The other kitchen appliances worked as expected, although the induction hob took a long time to heat up any pans with water (we suspect this is due to the pans provided rather than the hob itself as the frying pans were a lot more efficient when used on the same rings). Overall this was an excellent base for our family party of 7 ranging from 40-77 years of age and we would book again.
Thank you for taking the time to leave detailed comments. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location and the views! We will look into the information provided to ensure that it is correct and up to date. We take all comments on board, and will ask our Property Services Team to look into the points raised. We hope that you would visit the Lake District again. The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Skiddaw Heights is situated on a hill with breath taking views."
It is very spacious inside with excellent facilities. It is within walking distance of Keswick 15-20 minutes walk. The accomodation is perfect for groups of friends and families. A few points to note during our stay were that the towels provided were quite small(bath towels) & one of the twin rooms did not have enough towels. Also the master bedroom with the Juliet balcony had some items under the bed when we arrived,a child's dummy,an envelope,a small brown basket and tissues. This needs to be addressed when the property is being cleaned in the future. On the whole a very enjoyable stay,we would definitely stay here again.

"Great house, lovely interiors, comfy beds and fab location."
Only a couple of things we would mention to make the house even better. The downstairs toilet seat is loose and needs fixing, there are only 4 champagne flutes which isn't enough for that size of house, would expect 6, no tumblers only hi-ball glasses. The cleaners need to clearn down the sides of the sofas in the lounge, lots of debris in there! 4pm check-in and 9.30am check-out meant we only had a very short time in the house (we only stayed two nights), it would be nice to either have an earlier check-in or later check-out, particularly as beds need to be stripped, bins emptied and because it was bin day we had to make sure the bins were out! But none of the above would stop us booking again as the house etc. was great.

"Excellent location, a lovely property with fantastic views and a very high standard."
I will definitely be returning to this property, I just hope it is available next time i book as it met our needs perfectly and allowed us to unwind every night after 4 long days out on the hills.

"Property was lovely however if the following is addressed constructively the property would be luxurious and our stay even better."
1)BbQ could not find in itinerary, sent email to Sykes no reply so we brought ours, but did not need to. 2) downstairs toilet seat broken. Reported immediately, and again next day we were told maintenance informed and leave key in lockbox. No one came, received email they would be coming, Monday, then Tuesday. Thursday a lovely lady from Sykes office turned up with plastic Allen key to fix, but was loose immediately. We were then informed maintenance on holiday all week. My elderly brother-in-law with walking difficulties, who was sleeping in down stairs room, had to go upstairs for toilet which was not ideal. 3) Towels provided were rough, not soft. Softer larger towels including a bath sheet would have been more luxurious. 4) To enjoy the views on patio the hedge could of been trimmed a foot smaller, and also grass could of been cut. Privacy would still have been maintained as hedge was high. 5) Kitchen was superb but the fridge not big enough for the food we brought for a week. An American fridge or a desk top fridge in utility room was needed. Apart from the above, we did enjoy our stay, and will book again. Just thought if the above points could be addressed it would have been even better. The house was superbly cleaned and beds and pillows comfortable together with powerful showers. The view from main upper floor bedroom was unbelievable.
Thank you very much for your feedback. We appreciate the time taken to send your observations which have been taken on board and highlighted with our maintenance team. We are glad that these didn't detract from the enjoyment of your overall stay and we do hope we can welcome you in the future. Lakes Cottage Holidays Owner Relations Property Owner

"Beautiful house with amazing views!"

"Amazing property with fantastic views."
Our second visit and can highly recommend.

"The house was very well equipped for a family of 7 people."
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views were stunning and the area just brilliant for our needs. We walked everyday and came back to a warm comfortable house. I feel that the house is tired and needs just a little tlc but I also understand the restrictions of covid and how busy the owner must be with bookings back to back. Overall we had a fabulous stay and would love to come back. Thank you.
Thank you for your feedback, Skiddaw Heights has recently been completely refurbished throughout with new kitchen and bathrooms. We would love to welcome you back to see the changes. Property Owner

"No shower only a bath in the ensuite."
Comfortable but in need of some TLC. Views great .Oven small and unable to read the worn dial.Times of arrival and departure did not add to a relaxed experience . Did not justify the high cost .

"A beautiful family home with amazing views over Keswick and beyond."
Everything we needed for a relaxing family holiday.

"Very enjoyable stay."
Ample room for 8 people - stunning views.

"The property is located just outside of Keswick up a hill which affords it a fabulous view."
. The beds are comfortable with all linens crisp and clean. The living areas were comfortable and plenty of space for an extended family of 7. My negative feedback would be that it is looking very tired in places. The kitchen cupboards were cracking, the dials on the oven so worn it was guess work as to what turned on which bit. The grill was also off its hinge making it dangerous. I spent 20 mins cleaning the dryer it was so full of muck and bits. The two shower rooms were excellent and modern. However the bathroom in the master was worn, paint work was chipped and dirty grout was missing from the floor tiles making them move when you walked on them. There was a bath but given the issues we had with the lack of hot water after only 4 people had had a shower , it would have been a waste of time using it. I have stayed as a family at many a home and have never had the issues with the hot water running out. I cannot believe for one minute that we used all the hot water in the tank. There was no information on how the system worked and in this day and age I would expect it to be a combi boiler. It was only after the 2nd time the hot water went off that we were told that there was a hot water tank! Although there was an information pack it was not very detailed in regard to what there was available in the area. I appreciate we all have phones and internet but some attractions do not come up on searches so local knowledge is key. It may well sound as if we did not enjoy the property. We did. But attention to detail is key especially given the price we paid.

"What a fabulous place, the views were spectacular and a great location to get out and about."
We were short of nothing... dishwasher tablets, kitchen cloths, washing capsules, coffee capsules, hand held blender, cake tin. Truly amazing. What a delightful accommodation , plenty of space to move about and find your own quiet spot. Only drawback the drive is a little steep. Can’t wait to come back
