  • "This is probably one of the nicest places we’ve ever stayed, and definitely the most unique."

It was better than we expected, and was exactly what we needed. We definitely recommend the Pavillion, and would for sure stay again.

  • "An absolute gem of a find."

Kirklinton is set in beautiful grounds which you can roam around in freely, the ruins of the old buildings are enchanting you feel like you're in your own fairytale. Our accommodation the Pavillion was welcoming and had everything we needed for our very comfortable stay. Our host Jess was lovely she made us feel very welcome. We wouldn't hesitate to book again maybe in a few years when the renovations of the old hall are underway. Kirklinton is centrally located for Carlisle and lots of lovely villages with lots of history.

Jess and George were very welcoming hosts. Kirklinton was a perfect base for visiting Hadrian’s wall and the lakes so we were able to see lots of interesting places. We would highly recommend Kirklinton Hall for a relaxing holiday.

  • "The Pavilion at Kirklinton Hall and Gardens is a beautiful property in very grand surroundings which are gradually being restored to their former glory."

It’s a good base too if you wish to explore Hadrian’s Wall and even the Lakes are within easy reach. I had pretty terrible weather but was so pleased to have warm, comfortable and characterful accommodation to relax in when plans were disrupted. Highly recommended.

  • "We enjoyed our stay at the Pavillion."

The property is equipped with top class equipment, nothing spared. We were welcomed by the host and shown to the Pavillion. All information regarding the property is included in the information pack. We had to leave earlier than we intended but this had nothing to do with the accommodation.

  • "Perfect in every way."

Fabulous apartment, the attention to detail in regard to making it homely, such nice touches, the throws, dried flowers, decent crockery and the welcome pack. None of which detracting from the beauty and splendour of the building and its setting.

Very peaceful and relaxing break in beautiful surroundings, just what we had hoped for. Everything was first class. A lot of thought and detail has gone in to make this feel very comfortable. A great find. We will book again.

  • "Most of the building may be a ruin but certainly not the holiday accommodation."

It was home from home, there was everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The conversions are an excellent standard, The bed complete with pillows and quilt were of a very high standard giving me a better nights sleep than what I get at home. We will certainly make a return visit.

  • "Just an amazing property, lovingly created from the ruins of Kirklinton Hall."

Luxurious, cozy and welcoming, we thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend. The snow outside and the log fire inside certainly helped. It is amazing project that has been taken on here and if the Pavillion is anything to go by then the rest will be truly amazing. Keep going with the vision and thank you for a truly amazing stay.

  • "The property was charming and most comfortable."

The grounds were beautifully maintained and although it was autumn we did enjoy walking along the footpaths. There was building works in progress but this was done sympathetically and was not an inconvenience to us. The only slight complaint was that there was no signal for the tv or mobile phone.

Hi Maggie Thank you for your feedback. We hope you and your daughter enjoyed your stay, it was lovely to meet you both. Unfortunately the poor telephone and TV signal is the consequence of our rural and idyllic location and is outside our control. This is why we have invested in high quality satellite broadband which enables WiFi phone calls and also allows excellent streaming services for our Smart TVs. Property Owner

Kirklinton Hall & Gardens

Set within a beautiful rural location on the outskirts of Kirklinton, an ancient village in Cumbria, lie the stunning trio of properties offered at Kirklinton Hall. Featuring ample off-road parking, the properties provide well-appointed and contemporary living spaces, set in extensive gardens and serene woodland. This unique collection makes an ideal base for an extended family, a group of friends, or sharing couples looking for a relaxing and memorable break away from the rush of everyday life. A short car journey will bring you into the historic market towns of Brampton or Longtown. Both have small supermarkets, along with a number of excellent independent shops, with a wider range of shopping in nearby Carlisle. The area is well provided with pubs and restaurants if you prefer to forget cooking for a few days! The local area is rich in history having been a focal point for the ongoing skirmishes and battles between English and Scottish forces from pre-Roman times until the time of the formal union between the two countries in 1603. Hadrian’s Wall, just a few miles from Kirklinton, was built to keep out Scottish raiders during Roman times. Carlisle Castle was the principal fortress of England’s north-west border with Scotland for the 500 years leading up to the union of the two countries. Border reivers were raiders along the Anglo-Scottish border from the late 13th century to the early 17th century and most significant houses at that time had a fortified peel tower, both as a form of defence and to warn neighbouring properties of attack. The peel tower at Kirklinton Hall, with a single room at the top of a spiral staircase, is the oldest building on the site and can be viewed by arrangement with the owners. In addition to the historic sites of Hadrian’s Wall and Carlisle Castle, are the Lake District and Northumberland National Parks. Less well known and certainly worth exploring are the North Pennine AONB and Solway Coast AONB. For an unforgettable retreat in Cumbria, make sure you book a stay at the Kirklinton Hall & Gardens.
