Location

This sophisticated rural Lake District holiday home lies only a stroll from the small village of Crosthwaite, in the north of the Lyth Valley and only a short drive from Bowness and Lake Windermere.

The Lyth Valley lies to the east of Lake Windermere, riddled with picturesque walking and cycling routes and renowned as a peaceful landscape compared to busier Lake District holiday destinations such as Bowness and Ambleside. But you'll never be too far from Lake Windermere, shops and restaurants in Bowness and the main driven route into the heart of the Lakes.

The Lyth Valley is also renowned for its scattering of high-class country pub restaurants, one of which stands only a stroll away from Highbeck. The Punchbowl Inn has long been regarded as one of the finest Lake District gastropubs, well worth a visit and nestling alongside a pretty old church.

If you choose self-catering accommodation in the Lyth Valley during spring, you'll witness something else this valley is famous for; renowned for their annual harvest of damsons, orchards throughout the valley give rise to stunning damson blossom in spring. The old market town of Kendal is also easily accessible from Crosthwaite, with a wide range of shops, pubs and restaurants as well as entertainment for all ages at the Brewery Arts Centre.

What guests are saying

Excellent property, didn’t realise from write up that all bedrooms were en-suite so that was a good surprise.

Lots of space for 3 generational family. Children loved the stream and garden and having so much space in the house. Garden was huge. All communication was replied to straight away. Wonderful views from all the windows. Good location for Windermere and Kendal.

The pictures do not do Highbeck justice, such a beautiful place to stay, beds so comfy, kitchen well equipped, dining and living room are a great size for a large family to relax in.

Two pubs in walking distance, plenty of walks in the area. Would not hesitate to book again.
