"We love Daisy Cottage."
This was our 5th visit and, as long as we think our oldest dog can manage the stairs, we will definitely be back. The location is amazing and the cottage has everything you need for a great stay. We tend to cook a lot at the cottage and it is well equipped. We also love how dog friendly it is recognising that you want to snuggle up with your dogs so providing throws. It's a lovely homely cottage.

"Superb accommodation, very spacious, in a beautiful location highly recommended"
-
"Given such a huge bedroom a super king upstairs would be good and one without high ends so you can watch telly from bed."
-
"Fantastic cottage."
Great walk into Grasmere for us and the dogs Good central location for the rest of the lakes Would not hesitate to come back
-
"Absolutely love Daisy Cottage."
Arrived back home yesterday and have booked our return for September (our 5th visit). The cottage is so comfortable and welcoming and has everything you could wish for. The location is perfect too. It's nice to be just out of the village, the walk into Grasmere is lovely and means the dogs can be off lead all the way and there are so many walks from the door that our cars have a week off too!
-
"Beautiful cottage lovely and clean ."
Really enjoyed our stay at daisy cottage we would definitely recommend to friends and family and we will be making a return visit sometime in the future Thankyou so much
-
"Beautiful, comfortable cottage, very well located for the village of Grasmere (about a 10 minute walk)."
Equipped with everything that you might need during the stay. Quiet location. Will be booking a return visit for next year!
-
"The cottage is lovely - very spacious and well equipped."
The garden is accessed off the first floor which is not obvious in the property description. It is also beautiful but unfortunately our old Labrador who came away with us could not use it because she could not get up the stairs

"Lovely cottage, great location"

"Lovely , comfortable cottage in a great location."
Love the fact that you are able to park the car and have lots of walks from the cottage. The cottage is well equipped and very spacious. Would like to see a long handled brush for sweeping up in the utility room but apart from that the cottage provides everything needed for holiday stay. Love the pantry - ideal to store everything brought for weeks stay.

"We had a lovely 2 nights ."
The location is great for walking into grassmere . The cottage had everything we needed .

"This is a charming, quaint cottage."
The bedrooms have lovely views over the village to the hills beyond. The top-floor bedroom is by far the best, being very spacious, with particularly good views. The kitchen is well-equipped, and the living room has plenty of comfortable seating. There are a good selection of books, and also some CD’s and DVD’s which adds to the homely feel. We also appreciated the very good supply of hot water; very useful when four people all want showers/baths in quick succession! Just a couple of minor criticisms: 1. The allocated car spaces are not adjacent to the cottage, but about 50m or so away (this is not specified on the website). This was only an issue for us when unloading/loading the cars (particularly on arrival/departure) but something to be aware of. (It is permitted to pull up outside the cottage when loading/unloading, but this blocks access to the neighbours’ cars). 2. There are notices in the top-floor bedroom warning that the two Velux windows must be kept shut when it is raining, which is quite limiting, as they would have provided much-needed ventilation when it was warm but wet. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay, and would recommend Daisy Cottage.
Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased to see that you enjoyed your stay and the views. We take all comments on board. Thank you The Lakelovers Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Beautiful spacious and very comfortable cottage, home from home!"
Superb location just a short stroll from Grasmere village. The hottest week we have ever spent in the Lakes so our only comment is that a parasol for upper terrace table would have come in handy. The blocked drain issue we had was sorted extremely quickly even on a Sunday. Would highly recommend Daisy Cottage as well as Sykes/Heart of the Lakes

"The house was lovely, great location and we would definitely stay again however there were a few things we wish we had been aware of."
-Parking situation was not clear before booking, we had a baby with us who requires the kitchen sink to leave the house so was a bit annoying! Also an a bit annoying having to block each other in if you've got multiple cars as we often wanted to get out early to be on the hills and we had to plan the parking order accordingly. -Stairs are quite twisty, not an issue for us but worth noting on listing. -It rained whilst we were staying, the chimney of the master bedroom fireplace had water dripping down and splashing into the room. I had put our cot in front of it and it got wet. -Lack of curtains in the master bedroom was an issue for baby bedtime! The windows are a tricky shape (and not an issue for most people probably!) but investing in some black out blinds to go with the cot and high chair (and some window cleaner to get the marks of window on leaving, sorry) would be a good investment. -Sensor for light in master bathroom was on very short timer and the door didn't stay shut without a lot of pulling then locking it! -Low lights on stairs were not working (may have been a switch I didn't spot) -Whilst generally clean the house could do with a deep clean, under the sofas was very dusty (and of course our baby found every dust bunny and tried to eat them) Velux windows also really need a clean from outside. -GIANT spider in pantry! -We really liked the info on local walks in the visitor book, really helpful -Really great how dog friendly the house is -Great social living space layout -Good selection of games, questionable music taste in the CD's! Very much enjoyed them anyway! -Lovely garden, really snug in the rain and sunny at the end -Noted you had addressed previous reviews re having basics in the kitchen like salt and pepper, much appreciated not having to buy for a weeks visit!

"A lovely cottage in a beautiful location!"
Thank you for having us!
-
"Lovely property very well located."
Well equipped for what we needed for a week away in the lakes. Lovely little walk to get to the centre of Grasmere. The weather was not on our side so we didn’t utilise the garden but this also looked a lovely space for a summers evening. Wouldn’t hesitate to book again.
-
"This was our third visit to Daisy Cottage and it was as lovely as ever."
It's a real home from home for us now and we're already planning next year's visit. The location is wonderful but also the cottage has everything you could need, is cosy, clean and comfortable. The view from the table at the top of the garden is sublime. Thank you for accommodating us with 3 dogs too.
-
"The cottage is great and in a good location, but the outdoors, front & back, really let it down."
I loved the old wooden doors & floors, it was full of character. There was dust on the skirting boards, but other parts were clean. The weather was glorious but we couldn’t sit outdoors as the gardens are so overgrown. The front has dead plants in pots and needs a general tidy. Such a shame it looks so unloved, and the back garden is totally wasted.

"Hello Daisy cottage is fabulous, we had a great stay."
Thank you very much for accommodating our request to check in a couple of hours early, we really did appreciate that. Our only negative feedback is the lawn/grass was probably due a cut atleast 2 weeks ago and so we opted not to use that part of the garden as it wasn't really usable. We understand the dilemma of leaving 'store cupboard' ingredients but would have welcomed the basics like salt and pepper. Kind Regards Leigh, Dave, Tara and Andrea
Thank you for your comments. It is lovely to hear that you had a lovely stay. We take all comments on board. As the cottage is self catering, basic items like salt and pepper are not always provided. We hope to welcome you again. The Heart of the Lakes Owner Relations Team Property Owner

"Lovely comfy & warm cottage."
Well equiped kitchen with plenty of crockery & utensils. Lots of hot water & strong power showers. Really appreciated the large fluffy bath towels & good quality bedding. Fantastic views from all windows & seating area in garden. Loved exploring Grasmere & the local footpaths via the path virtually oposite the drive. The Forest Side 4 course taster lunch was amazing, The Yan was excellent for dinner, Mathildes perfect for cake & coffee. We also enjoyed a beer or two at Tweedies. We had arrived with plenty of supplies & the cleaning pack very useful.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback. We are glad that you enjoyed everything the property and local area and eateries had to offer. Property Owner

"Lovely home , plenty of space for the 5 of us and a dog ."
Easy to keep warm , plenty of equipment in the kitchen . The upstairs bedroom/on suit is gorgeous . The area is very quiet and it’s a nice walk to/from the village. All being well we shall return next year .
-
"Love daisy cottage and have already booked again for next year."
Spacious and comfortable - with so much space the double beds could up rated to King size or even super king size on the top floor. This is our second stay at Daisy cottage and have found it to be well equipped on the whole. Biggest lack is a long handled brush for sweeping the floors - neither vacuum cleaners were effective and emitted an unpleasant smell. Would recommend to others and will be returning next year with our family.
-
"Top of fridge and microwave are filthy."
No potatoe peeler, salad/mixing bowl, baking tray for eg Sunday roast. Saucepans greasy with non matching lids that don’t fit. No kitchen scales, blender or grinder. No washing up liquid, basic condiments etc. at this price I expect a welcome package. Open fire but no wood provided again not essential but mean. Master bed is so uncomfortable. There is a general lack of care towards the rental property.
Thank you for taking the time to provide additional feedback following your stay at Daisy Cottage. Please accept our apologises that the property was not as clean as you had expected.. Following on from your feedback we have placed a potatoe peeler, salad / mixing bowl, baking trays and kitchen scales. If you had contacted the local office, we would have been happy to sort these issues out for you. Many thanks, Housekeeping Property Owner

"Very nice tastefully furnished comfortable cottage and we would stay at this property again."
The negative points were the lack of a tumble dryer which is really essential after coming back after long walks in wet and muddy conditions, also the outside light at the back leading to the garden was not working. The on and off control in on-suite shower needs attention as it comes off when turned.
-
"Although this property was well equipped and comfortable I felt it was let down by the cleaning."
The kitchen and bathrooms
-
"Very comfortable, spacious property."
Ideal location within easy walking distance of Grasmere via a pretty path. Lovely to sit in the garden looking at the mountains on warm summer evenings.
-
"Lovely property, well appointed and really nice and clean."
This was our second stay and we have all ready booked for next year. The location is perfect away from the centre of Grasmere but a lovely walk along a safe path and the river to get there, and the visits from a red squirrel in the garden a delight.
-
"Daisy cottage is in a great location and on the whole is a lovely, well equipped cottage but it could do with a lick of paint as lots of marks on the walls in the kitchen and up the stairs."
The bedroom and lounge furniture was very dusty and I had to clean the bottom of the butchers block and the kitchen and lounge table with anti-bac wipes as they had obviously not been cleaned at all. Could also do with sorting the lock on the en-suite door as it is difficult to use. Apart from these minor issues we had a great week despite the mixed weather but that is the joy of the Lakes.
-
"Our feedback is mixed, yes indeed it's a lovely location, hence our booking, but we were taken aback by the dirty and stained quilts and pillows, and cushions."
Our guests decided to strip their bedding to assist us in laundry which is when we saw the dreadful condition it was in. I felt embarrassed and put it in the wardrobe and replaced it with another. This did upset me. It has influenced my feelings on this rental. We stayed for a two- week duration and would have expected better. However, if this had not occurred, and there had been nice little 'touches' such as a few daffodils in a vase, and a fire in the hearth 'laid-out', it would have received a much higher score. I am very disappointed as we were so excited and looking forward to our stay, but now feel we were overcharged for this experience. One guest even cleaned some of the windows...
-
"We stayed in the property for two consecutive weeks and absolutely loved it."
Great location and such a quiet place to stay. Really felt like a home from home. Would definitely book again.
-
"Lovely property in a great location just outside the village property is maintained well, although the garden hadn't been looked after."
Being super critical there weren't any cleaning products in the house and you need to be careful on the wooden stairs
-
"We were disappointed with the standard of cleanliness, there were cobwebs in every room, the rug in the lounge had lots of hair on it and the rug in the double bedroom was stained as were some cushions."
The skirting boards were grubby and the kitchen wall was both damaged and dirty, oven trays had not been cleaned from previous use, there was mould evident around the bath. In addition there were a number of lightbulbs which didn’t work and no replacements were available, the rear outdoor light did not work, there was dog faeces on the lawn…not from our dog! and the microwave stopped working during our stay. We were also surprised that no kindling/fuel was available for the fire given it was the winter and cold, there was only 2 toilet rolls for a property that slept 6, no bin bags left and no cleaning products were available. We were disappointed with the property overall and do not feel that it reflected the 4 (tick) heart of the lakes rating… I am able to provide photographs of the areas of concern and do feel that we left the property cleaner than we found it after buying cleaning products and vacuuming throughout.
We would like to thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear that the property was not up to our usual standard. These comments have been passed on to our housekeeping manager to investigate and rectify. Property Owner

"We have stayed in this location several times before but not in this property."
We thought the kitchen was poorly equipped and it was lucky I had thought to bring two roasting tins as we had to use these several times. There was a shortage of large saucepans and bowls for food preparation. The gas hobb didn't work very well. Also the following:- -A new mop head was needed -towel rail in master ensuite on second floor needed fixing -hole in the bath in family bathroom -problems with the washing machine. Didn't work very well and didn't always spin clothes and unfortunately we needed to use this a lot as we were there the week of the torrential rain and floods. In all the self catering properties we have stayed in recently there has been washing up liquid and a reasonable amount of dishwasher tablets left but the complimentary pack left was ridiculous.

"Daisy cottage is just gorgeous."
It is absolute credit to the owners & very thoughtfully furnished. The loft bedroom was perfect for relaxing after a long day as was the main sitting room& the garden so very pretty to sit in weather permitting. The views from the loft bedroom particularly are absolutely stunning with clear views of the village school and the surrounding mountains. We could never tire of looking at that view which was beautiful & dramatic in every different light. Also if you are lucky you might catch a glimpse of the red squirrels nearby from the garden. The kitchen was well stocked ( but perhaps the addition of a large stock pan would be handy for larger families) It was great to see both local photos and products used within the cottage (we loved the ‘Herdy’ collection!) It was an easy and pretty walk into Grasmere village along the footpath by the stream & proved a perfect starting point for many walks (particularly our favourite ‘ Alcock tarn). It is a stone's throw from Dove cottage & easily accessible by road to Ambleside and Bowness and Windermere. It was by far the best all round cottage we have stayed in & all of us ( 2 adults and 4 teenagers) loved it. Very sad though to see that prices so dramatically risen for next year with all Heart of lakes cottages ( plus £500 for this cottage the same week in 2022!!!!). This will sadly price us & many other families out of future visits in the current economic climate. Please rethink Sykes cottages!

"The holiday we had in daisy cottage was fantastic ."
Great location , we have stayed in many places around Grasmere and once in Ambleside over the last twenty odd years and this place was just as good as any of them. The only disappointment was on our second week we wen5 to book again for next year for the same two weeks and the price increase fron 2, 200 or so pounds we paid this year to almost 3,600 to book for next year was unbelievable. A price increase of over 60% wow wow wow , to say we are devastated is an understatement . We started coming 23 years ago as my father in law was born and brought up in Grasmere. He and my mother in law have both passed on in recent years and we promised them we would keep holidaying in the lakes but it looks like unfortunately loyal return visitors are getting priced out in favour of more wealthy money no object people who cannot go on their usual foreign holidays . I only wish my wages would go up by 60 plus percent too. Kind regards a very devastated customer

"Gorgeous place and ideal location."
Loved sitting in the garden as the sun set and fabulous penthouse master bedroom overlooking the fells. Had a fantastic stay. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Thank you.
-
"Pleasant stay but work still being done on the property opposite."
No salt and pepper at the property and not particularly deep cleaned. Some elements need replacing like matching wine glasses etc

GRASMERE
Ambleside 5 miles; Windermere 9 miles; Keswick 13 miles.
Situated in the heart of the Lake District National Park is the lovely village of Grasmere, probably best known as the home of William Wordsworth, a place he once described as "The most loveliest spot that man hath found". Any visit to Grasmere needs to include The Grasmere Gingerbread shop, where the Wilson family has been making gingerbread for over 60 years. Also in the village are a number of shops, pubs, a church which dates back to the 13th century, and Grasmere Lake. Grasmere Sports takes place every August, where you can watch participants compete in a variety of sports, including Cumberland wrestling. Just five miles away is the town of Ambleside and Lake Winderemere where you will find shops, pubs, restaurants and the 17th century Bridge House, which is one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District. Cruises, boat trips and watersports can all be enjoyed on Lake Windermere, and the towns of Windermere and Keswick are also within driving distance.
