Fantastic property , great location within proximity to pubs and shops , very quiet road , cottage was the best we’ve stayed in at Ambleside , and we’ve stayed in a few

"Really lovely well thought-out and comfortable cottage in a great location and with great walks straight from the door."
Everything you could possibly need for a party of ( as we were) to six. Plenty of space so you won't be crowded ,especially with two fabulous bathrooms. Tv's in every bedroom and the most comfortable beds. Kitchen is very well equipped. Again with everything you would need, even a dishwasher if the pots pike up. One minor note about the ovens. in particular the top one of two. When I opened this to put in some cooking , it was apparent that the right-hand 'hinge' was not properly attached. Whether thus is a 'fault' or a design feature for cleaning the oven door , I cannot say. Minor point but safety first .

"This was our 2nd visit to the property and as before it was clean and well equipped with good location."
The house is comfortable end spacious

"We had a great stay."
Lovely property in a wonderfully quiet area yet just minutes from the heart of Ambleside

"Lovely place to stay and would come back again."
Small issue with parking close to property but we did manage to park at the top end of Chapel Hill after a day or so. Could do with an extract fan in down stairs bathroom.

"The cottage appears to have been very recently refurbished and the quality of fixtures and fittings is to a very high standard."
The new beds were very comfortable. On arrival the cottage was cold but the heating thermostat, situated in the hall was very easy to understand and the place quickly warmed up. The evenings we were in were cosy with the wood burning stove. The cottage is minutes walk from the centre. Only major problem is parking. There are double yellow lines outside the cottage and nearby spaces permanently occupied. This wasn’t in the description and should be updated. We used the parking permit during the week but couldn’t park anywhere nearby when unloading and on departure. For this reason only I don’t think we’d stay here again, certainly not in high season dates.

"Lovely and cosy."
Parking at Christmas real issue with parking as there are now double yellow lines outside cottage on both sides of road. Plus inconsiderate parking by others, locals and tourists completely blocked road forcing people to reverse up steep hill. Plus car park often full so a real issue. Only other thing is wood burner is missing part of the rope seal on door so is burning uncontrollably so we spent a fortune on logs. But the cottage was lovely. Unfortunately we would not stay again as parking is a real issue now with the yellow lines. We think that this should be mentioned in description. I have sent separate email and have photos of the above mentioned issues.

"Fourth stay at Argylle Cottage."
Very comfortable and cosy. The two bathrooms are spacious and modern. Heating and hot water excellent. Location is perfect 2 minutes walk from centre but very quiet. Parked on road outside property most days but used car park perimit on a couple of occasions which was also handy to use in Grasmere car park. Will definitely return. Thank you.
-
"Comfortable, warm and well appointed cottage."
Great central location in the town and for visiting our favourite spots in The Lakes. We liked it so much last year that we booked a second stay this year – we never normally do that!
-
"It was a wonderful cottage in a perfect location."
We had a tremendous week and hope to come back again.
-
"Argyle cottage was a nice comfortable home for the family."
The upstairs bathroom would be better with a separate shower instead of in the bath as it was quite difficult to get into and out of for some people.Overall the cottage was very well equipped and we all enjoyed our holiday.
-
"The cottage was well presented and the facilities very good, probably the best cottage we have stayed in Ambleside."
Would definitely book again.
-
"This is a super cottage/house just a few minutes walk from the centre of Ambleside."
It is really spacious, well equipped, warm and comfortable. Lovely big lounge with dining table and log burner. Three good sized bedrooms and 2 lovely bathrooms. Ideal location for exploring the Lakes and walks from your doorstep. We used the car parking permit to park in the car park at the bottom of the hill and is also valid in some other local car parks. We had a great week in this lovely home and we’d definitely recommend and plan to return - and I very rarely would say that! Thank you

"Our second time at Argyll Cottage."
A very comfortable and well appointed cottage. Lovely front room, nice fire, comfortable bedrooms and two really lovely bathrooms. In a very handy position for the town and with a superb pub just down the hill! Excellent!
-
"A lovely cottage to stay in the very heart of Ambleside, close to the great Golden Rule pub."
We felt spoilt.
-
"A lovely, spacious property that is just 2 minutes away from the town centre."
Very clean and well maintained with all the home comforts and facilities you could possibly need.
-
"Clean, warm and well-ventilated on arrival."
Beautifully presented. Lots of care taken with the tasteful refurbishment. Good views from all windows. Very comfortable beds. Plenty of storage. Kitchen well equipped & provisioned. Centrally located. Able to park outside all week (though this may not be possible in high season). Felt very much at home. Would book again.

"Ideally positioned cottage tucked away in a quiet spot yet still close to all that Ambleside has to offer."
Plenty of excellent places to eat on your doorstep - don’t miss the excellent ‘Lucy’s’ for a relaxed and friendly place to eat. Parking was never a problem throughout our two week stay. Cottage is very comfortable and has everything you could possibly need. Loads of wonderful walks close at hand and if you’re planning on climbing Scafell Pike it’s just a 40 minute drive to Seathwaite in Borrowdale from which you can take the Corridor Route. We also went Canyoning down Church Beck near Coniston just a 20 minute drive away and would recommend Lake District Activities with Lakeland Ascents and would recommend them to go with.
-
"Lovely comfortable cottage well placed for Ambleside with shops and restaurants just 5 minutes walk away."
We left our car parked on the street near the cottage - quite steep for those not used to Lakeland roads - and used local buses and ferries to join up with walks around Ambleside, Grasmere and Windemere. Would readily stay again.

"Really enjoyed our stay, thankyou."
Issues with parking as car parks also very busy when could not park outside property. Also, recycling plastic caused us a problem. We were told that as our waste was 'commercial waste' we couldn't use the recycling facilities in Ambleside and that we shouldxeither leave the waste atcthe cottage for the owners to dispose of, or take it back to Liverpool with us! Chap relented in the end but told us we were breaking the law!

"The itinerary of the cottage could be more detailed, include the DVD player/ DVD's."
It also said the fuel was included in the price, as the cottage has a log burner we took this to mean that logs would be provided, they were not. Apart from this we had a really lovely week in the cottage, we loved the location and really appreciated the Christmas decorations...Thank you.
-
"Lovely accommodation, with a very efficient heating system and all the facilities and equipment we needed."
Not easy to park immediately outside the property as it was often blocked, probably by a local resident. However the provided permit allowing free parking in local South Lakes car parks was much appreciated, and used every night. Excellent location with a very short walk to the local pub and only a few minutes into Ambleside centre. Very good value as an out of season break (early December).
-
"Super cottage in a fabulous location."
With all the convenience of being 2 minutes from the centre of Ambleside but out of the hustle and bustle of the centre and away from busy roads. The ideal location for us and you can park right outside the cottage. And there is loads of room to spread out inside the well equipped cottage too. It was ideal for us. We like a week in the Lakes in the winter. Just the two of us. The cottage is warm and cosy and there's space to bring work with us too on the huge dining table. We will be returning sooner rather than later.

"We had a fabulous time in a beautiful cottage."
Everything you could need was provided and to such a high standard. Great location in Ambleside close to all the amenities. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to friends and would love to come again.
-
"Car parking difficult for additional cars but understandable given the excellent location."
-

Would definitely recommend Cottage to others and would stay at property again….

About the location
AMBLESIDE
Grasmere 4.4 miles; Windermere 4.7 miles; Keswick 16.7 miles.
Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.
