The views through the windows were fantastic . The property is central for most walks and we walked the local area of Loughrigg and Rydal without using the car which saved the excessive parking fees . I would not hesitate to book this place again ,it certainly added to our holiday enjoyment . Regards J .R . Mountford .

"The main bed mattresses (2 pushed together) right hand side was sloping inwards and the left mattress was slightly elevated upwards."
The Saniflow toilet downstairs also caused a minor sewage smell throughout. Location was great but comfort and cleanliness could be improved.

"1) The downstairs bedroom did not have a mirror although there appeared to be a fixing for one."
2) The upstairs had one but it was not fixed to wall. 3) The television reception seemed to crack up @ times. 4) The main electrical switch in the cupboard for c/h & water heating was off was when we arrived. Difficult to see s/w because a mop bucket was concealing it.Once found & switched on heating water & radiators fine, once we discovered that the auto programme was no good & to select manual at the thermostat/programmer & then boiler mode @ the boiler in the cupboard.

"We had a wonderful stay in this well equipped property."
Good to have lots of cutlery and crockery etc. to be able to run the dishwasher when full. The views are amazing, and we were lucky enough to have excellent weather for the full week! Rather steep walking back up to the property after walking the Fairfield Horseshoe! We will be back!

"We have stayed many times at fellcroft and find it a gem of a holiday cottage but sadly this year we feel disappointed with heart of the lakes."
/ Sykes cottages Back in February we reported the tumble dryer wasn’t working to which we were reassured a new part would be ordered. However, arriving again in august we found the same problem with the dryer. The main office was contacted again to which we were informed ‘we will phone you straight back’. We didn’t get a return call so called in to the local office at Ambleside. The maintenance team said they would call to the property to which they did and left a message with another family member saying they had got the serial number for the washer dryer. However, we did not get another call from HOL during the holiday period. Being Avid swimmers we choose a cottage with the facilities of having a washer/dryer. Due to the unpredictable Lake District weather you cannot guarantee you can dry washing outside or have the facilities to do so. Fortunately for us we had an exceptional week of good weather to dry towels outside on the airer We are returning to the property in the Autumn and hope this issue will be rectified . If you advertise the property of having a washer /dryer then please make sure the facilities work . This is what we are paying for. Thank you

"The house was great."
Great location close to town but yet quiet. The view from the windows are amazing. Beds were generally comfortable. It's bonus to have a separate shower room.

"1) When first switching on the TV on channels BBC1 & 2 the digital picture kept breaking up."
It didn,t seem to happen on other channels & BBC1&2 eventually settled down.I tried to install the satellite system as per instructions but this seems not to be working. 2) The towl holder in the small toilet at the top of the stairs juts out too much & its quite easy to bump your head on it, I did it twice! 3) The Lakeside parking areas are a problem particularly the one nearest the entrance, regardless of the sign they invariably park in the entrance making a difficult entrance even more difficult! Do you really think there,s room for 3?

"Brilliant! We chose Fellcroft because of its location and because of the view from the window."
The property met all our expetations, and the view out of the window was even better than we expected. There was plenty of room for parking. It is an easy short walk into the heart of Ambleside from the flat. The accommodation was everything we needed for a week's relaxing holiday. We'll be back!

Very clean and welcoming. Great location and lovely views. Near to Ambleside and lots of walks but in a quiet location. No complaints at all. We did miss a hairdryer and had to bring out own wok, but. Other than that it was extremely well equipped.

"We've recently had a lovely week at Fellcroft."
The house is clean and comfortable. The kitchen is very well equipped and well stocked with crockery, pans cutlery etc. The layout of the house is perfect for a family or 2 couples with a bath/shower room, bedroom and lounge on each floor. The location is excellent with a footpath at the end of the road you can walk into the centre of Ambleside in under 5 minutes. Finally, the views from the property are simply amazing. What a pleasure being in a lovely comfortable house with fantastic views of Ambleside and the fells.

"We really enjoyed our stay and the views are fabulous."
We have stayed there before and I feel the parking is now somewhat compromised by the decking area. We had two large cars so the front of one overhung the next door property slightly but luckily no-one complained. It would also be helpful if there was a bit more information about recycling as it seems like everything has to go in the one bin. We hope to return again before too long.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force.
