Enjoying a superb setting within the Lake District National Park, just paces from the famous Lake Windermere, Violet Cottage is a fantastic choice for couples or a family of four.
The property benefits from a lovely rear garden with furniture, perfect for alfresco dining.
Inside, you will find an inviting living/dining room, with plush seating, crackling woodburning stove and a TV, ideal for relaxing evenings spent with loved ones, along with a well-equipped kitchen where you can rustle up your favourite dishes, ready to enjoy at the dining table for four.
Upstairs, there is a contemporary bathroom where you can wash away the day with a soak in the bath or freshen up under the overhead shower.
When sleep calls, you can retire to one of two tastefully decorated bedrooms, both doubles, both of which are light and airy and offer front and rear views.
Explore the town, where you can sample delicious meals at Fellinis, Copper Pot, and The Old Stamp House, stock up on essentials at the convenience store, visit the Armitt Library and Museum, make your way over to the stunning 70-ft Stock Ghyll Force, or visit the fascinating 2nd-century Roman Fort.
Nearby, you can also visit Rydal, where you can hike through the breath-taking manmade Rydal Cave and visit Rydal Mount & Gardens, or continue on to Grasmere, where you can tour the former home of William Wordsworth.
Next stop is Windermere, where you can take to the waters of Lake Windermere with a variety of watersports, soak up the views from Queen Adelaide’s Hill, test out your swing at the excellent Windermere Golf Club, and sample fresh seafood at Hooked.
Further afield, you’ll find Keswick, home to Keswick Museum, Derwent Pencil Museum and The Theatre By The Lake.

We had a great stay at Violet Cottage.
It was clean and comfortable, with everything we needed provided. It was lovely and peaceful but right in the heart of Ambleside. It is a great location. It is unfortunate that it is listed with parking facilities. You can't really park outside the cottage as it is on a narrow lane, and even a small car doesn't fit. We parked a few streets away, which was fine.

Well equipped and homely for a few days away
We had a lovely stay at Violet Cottage.
The cottage is well furnished, lovely tableware and comfy beds. It was styled beautifully and felt really homely. The only thing I wouldn’t agree with is the street parking. In order to allow cars to drive past, I had to park very close to the entrance to the cottage so it was hard to get into the cottage once we’d parked and the only alternative was paid parking, so I managed. The WiFi buffered a lot with the thick walls, I was less bothered but my 5 year old was very bothered
