It’s a lovely clean cosy cottage in a great location. The owner is very welcoming and helpful. You can park right outside the door in a private courtyard only shared by the adjoining cottage. Great walks from the door.

I would of liked a more relaxed settee and chair, the one in the cottage was too 'sit up straight' and not relaxing FOR US. But - this would not stop us coming again!

The owner was really helpful and the biscuits and fresh eggs were very welcoming. The cottage was well equipped along with a gated parking area and patio furniture. There are walks from the door and two great pubs in the village.

  • "A very comfortable and well equipped cottage, situated up a farm track in a quiet court yard."

Lovely walks with fabulous views - from the door! The cottage interior is quite dark due to the nearby trees. There is a good sized bathroom but the low beams could be a problem for taller people. There is only one pub open in the village - it has reduced opening hours! Pizzas are available and has a very pretty Beer Garden. Lots of interesting places to visit.

A new fry slice is needed and dustpan and brush would be great addition just to help keep the kitchen clean. We had a fantastic stay, the property is beautiful.

  • "We were met by the owner who was a lovely lady and explained everything thoroughly to us."

She made it clear she was available if need be but then we didn't see her til the end of our holiday, only because we had no need to. The cottage was very much as described but we were unaware that it actually joined to a property next door and we shared a courtyard. The adjoining property was empty during our stay which was fine but could have been a problem if it was being used by dogowners or people who did not like dogs as we had ours with us and it was the only space for dogs to be let out as there is no backgarden. Also on this point if you are a dog owner be aware that the courtyard has gate that a small dog/puppy could get out of. I have to disagree with some previous feedback regarding the bed and furniture as we found both very comfy, in fact I have come home ready to buy a new armchair like the one in the cottage! The only downside really was the heating which you have no control over. This is connected to the owners and comes on when hers does. As she has windows both sides I can imagine her house may be a little warmer. It was ok for us as it wasn't cold but I can imagine it may be an issue in the winter. Although she did say to let her know if it was an issue. All in all it was a lovely little cottage and we had a wonderful week there with lovely walks literally on the doorstep as well as a little brook fishing and our dogs loved it. It was very much as described although I think the shared courtyard really should be highlighted. One further point is that it is not made for tall people, luckily neither myself or my husband are but the sloped bathroom was a little of an issue for us and you could not have a shower (although there was a shower attachment) as you could not stand in the bath due to sloping ceiling. The location of the cottage is outstanding for a lovely peaceful holiday with loads to do within driving distance.

  • "The cottage is in the perfect location to enjoy the surrounding pennines."

It lacks a little in comfort in terms of the sofa and the bed. Also, no oven means self catering is tricky. We took our own air fryer, but without that, dinners would have been basic. A DVD player would be good for a bit of entertainment. We visited in the summer so could take advantage of the weather and longer days, but visiting in the winter without a dvd player could get boring. Owner was nice and the cottage was clean, perfect for a couple to use as a base but not much more. A few more nearby walk brochures would be nice aswell, as there is so much to see in the local area.

  • "A lovely clean cottage in an outstanding area."

Cottage was lovely and clean, owner very nice. We found the furniture and bed uncomfortable for us though, a full length mirror would have been good too. Plenty of easy walks from the door for us and our dog. Dog friendly pubs not far away for meals. Overall a nice peaceful escape.

  • "Lovely cozy cottage, very clean."

Comfortable bed! All you need for a nice short stay in a beautiful setting. On a working farm but not too far to walk into mickleton. The only negative for us was the water flow/ temperature seemed temperamental, not a huge problem though. Definitely recommend this lovely little cottage for a relaxing stay.

  • "The place was absolutely spotless and looked as it does in pictures."

It’s quite reasonably priced too. The overhead shower connection above the bath was over a sloping roof making it really difficult to shower. The sofa and armchair were quite uncomfortable. We were involved in lots of physical activity in the day and found these uncomfortable to come back to in an evening. The place was quite cold, luckily we had our own fan heater. If we had not, we would have been really unimpressed. The kitchen is basic, but fits short stays - no full oven, very limited utensils and pans. Overall, adequate for a very short (1-2 night) visit, but not longer.

  • "So, its great its a great cottage if you want to eat out or get ready meals but if you want to do a bit of cooking then I wouldn't recommend it."

Very well located, it has a lovely bedroom and bathroom and great car parking. However the cooking facilities are not great if you want, for instance, to cook the locally sourced lamb chops. There is a multi function microwave and a 2 ring hob but no conventional oven. The two ring hob is too small to get the frying pan and a medium size saucepan on. The base plate on which the rings are mounted gets unexpectedly hot. Controlling the temperature of the two hobs is impossible and I resorted to switching them on and off to regulate heat. However, I did mange a spagbol without too much swearing.

The place is ultra clean. - spotless ! Everything works ! Comfortable and friendly.....However, - the weather made it for us, - Haytime in the area lasts for some weeks and we were witness to the hard-working farming community gathering in this years hay, - a wonderful spectacle ! The walks in this area are easy and mostly flat.....just walk all day...for miles and miles......and then.......Middleton-in-Teesdale has several watering holes, and a Supermarket that stays open till 10pm ! How good is that ?...All in all - Faultless ! Twelve out of Ten !

  • "This is the third or fourth time we have been for a few days to the area around Middleton and have found it very central being close to Bernard Castle."

The cottage is basically two rooms with downstairs is lounge/kitchen with upstairs a open plan bedroom, all being very spacious. It with the next door cottage being adjacent to the farm house which is beautifully kept as are the cottages. The cottage is ideal for a few days break but be aware it does not have a full size oven or a washing machine but knowing this there is all praise for it and its situation.
