  • "A well positioned cottage in a lovely garden ."

everything was of a very good standard . I missed a frying pan and freezer . the oven only worked once we managed without I didn't like the bed frames it was too easy to knock yourself on them in the 2 smaller rooms . there was damp in the back bedroom , I would like to see a house without damp at the moment with all the rain and wind we are having! but non of the above would stop me going back its a lovely cottage

Thanks for your comments, and thanks to the other guests for theirs. Halewood now has a fridge freezer and a full length mirror. Property Owner

  • "The bungalow was spotless ,the furniture very comfotrable, kitchen equipped with everything you could possibly need however we found it strange there was no frying pan but we managed without."

A gardner came to cut the lawns during our stay but checked we were not sitting out .The position of this lovely home was perfect being a short walk to the lake and beautiful surroundings .I recommend Halewood for a holiday in Bowness on Windemere .

  • "Loved the cottage, it was a great base for our stay and the welcome box was useful, thank you."

Just a couple of things we found during our stay for consideration. The main bathroom toilet seat needed fixing and the cottage really could do with a freezer (we did know about this before our stay but even a small counter top one in the utility would work) and a frying pan. Whilst not necessary, a small pack of local information would also have been useful e.g. nearest supermarket for your start of holiday shop and possibly some suggested places of interest to help plan your days out (our favourite was the walk up to Rydal Cave :-)). That said, we would definitely stay again!

  • "Lovely home, handy for the shops and the lake."

Very comfortable accommodation. Very very clean and well presented (unlike other comments) Only negative feedback would be that a frying pan/wok would be good, so that guests do not have to try and cook things like a stir fry in lovely (but impractical) cast iron casserole dish. I had planned all our meals prior to arriving and so when our Tesco shop arrived it was tricky to cook some of the meals.

  • "After seeing previous reviews about the cleanliness of this property we were slightly hesitant to book Halewood, however, the property was spotlessly clean and tidy, We agree with other comments that a freezer would have been a bonus (maybe purchase a small table top freezer), some larger mirrors, the small hand held ones were not much help with 3 ladies in the party."

However, the outside seating was fab in the warm weather as was the boot room to store all the boots and coats.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Halewood and property is in a great location."

Dog friendly and clean & tidy. Your listing says it has a fridge/freezer but this is not the case. There is no freezer compartment and not even a facility for making or storing ice in the fridge (quite important for guests who would like ice in their drinks) - think you should alter your description to reflect this.

  • "On a positive note, the property is ideally located to places to eat and dog walks which suits us perfectly."

On a negative note, the property needs a thorough clean and could do with a lick of paint. There was cobwebs everywhere, the lampshades in one of the bedrooms and hallway were filthy. Even on the floors, there was still dust in places. The mop that is being used to clean the wood flooring is disgusting and needs replacing. The sofa and chairs and worn out so we’re uncomfortable. We will look at other places to stay in future during January as compared to a year ago when we stayed, it really has got worse.

  • "This is the second time we have stayed in this property."

The first time the bungalow had not been cleaned when we arrived (not ideal) but equally not the end of the world and was resolved within a few hours, luckily it was a sunny day and we could sit in the garden. On this occasion the property had been cleaned but it was not up to standard in my opinion, I appreciate a holiday home is unlikely to be as clean as your own home but the skirting boards were filthy as were the edges of the floors with heavy dust pushed up against it. The shower tray had dirty shoe prints on it, the bathroom mirror had not been cleaned. The tiles in the kitchen were dirty, there was a used plaster stuck to the sheets in the master bedroom, I could go on! That being said we have stayed here twice and would stay again, the property is brilliant, a great layout including a utility/boot room, perfect location, loads of parking, an enclosed garden, dog friendly and modern interior. As long as you are happy with my above cleaning gripe you couldn't ask for anything more.

Thank you for this feedback. I am sorry to read that you had further problems with cleanliness at this property. I have highlighted this issue with our Housekeeping Team. If we had been aware of these issues we would have sent a team round to rectify them at the time too. We are glad that you enjoyed your return trip and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Lakelovers Owner Team Property Owner

Comfy beds. My only small criticism would be the lack of mirrors in the bedrooms and a pair of tongs would have been useful. Apart from that we had a lovely stay and would definitely return.

Everything was provided for a comfortable stay. Welcome pack with refreshments provided was an added bonus as was the cleaning pack left for us. This really is a lovely place to stay if you are visiting this area. House and garden are very spacious and we were fortunate to have a week of nice weather and the garden was lovely to sit in very quiet considering it is close to a main road. Amazing location walking distance into Bowness everything you could need is close at hand on the doorstep and with the added bonus of off street parking. This is a real gem hope to return soon. Thank you for a great stay!

Fantastic location for everything Bowness has to offer especially the lake. The garden is a sun trap and there is a nice swing seat. The beds are comfy and everything very clean. The laundry room is a bonus. Could just do with a freezer.

  • "The property was very comfortable and well presented."

The rear garden was private with a lovely seating area. However there was no freezer or freezer compartment in the spacious fridge. This is big negative as ice for drinks and to be able to have ice cream for children would be very much appreciated. Also a baking tray or two and a frying pan would help when preparing meals. Not all guests will want to eat out.

Literally minutes to the lake and all the amenities of Bowness a short stroll away. The property is very well equipped and has almost everything you could need (no freezer/freezer compartment so don’t order ice if doing an online shop). The beds are large and comfortable and the bedrooms spacious. Proper power shower in the bathroom which was a delight. A lovely garden to enjoy and pretty secure for the dog. The utility room was a real bonus for wet days. Already booked to stay again.
