Location

On the eastern shores of Lake Windermere, Bowness is a sophisticated Lakeland village with a wealth to explore and enjoy. Stroll to the lake shore to hire a row boat or power boat, or take an elegant cruise on one of the Lake Windermere steamers. Windermere Lake Cruises depart regularly to Ambleside and Lakeside; a wonderful way to explore without even using your car. There are several excellent restaurants in Bowness village, within walking distance of Lauron's View. The Porto Restaurant is a long-standing favourite for stylish dining and Jackson's Bistro, always a firm favourite while Bodegas & Sol, The Fizzy Tarte and Baha add a contemporary twist to the wide offering of bars with food options. There are also plenty of traditional Lakeland pubs, both in the village centre and the surrounding countryside, the Bowness to Kendal road celebrated as being the gastro route where you'll find The Brown Horse, The Hare and Hounds, The Black Labrador, Mason's Arms and Lyth Valley Country Inn. Close to the village, you'll find Blackwell, The Arts and Crafts House. This impressive property takes a stunning position overlooking Lake Windermere, and has a range of interesting exhibitions. Join the A591 to Ambleside and Grasmere to explore the homes of famous Lake District poet, William Wordsworth and beyond to Keswick, the route named most scenic in Britain, easy to see why. Another great idea is to take the car-ferry crossing, with or without your bikes over Lake Windermere from Bowness, to visit the former home of Beatrix Potter in Near Sawrey, and the picturesque village of Hawkshead, a quaint, Lakeland village with white washed cottages lining the main square intermingled with a selection of pubs, cafes and galleries

Overall a great property, but for a premium property and premium price there were a few too many niggling faults.

Quite a few loose paving stones on the path, broken lounge window, bathroom mirror light broken, some of the window blinds damaged, bathroom TV didn't work. Some of these were listed in the suggestion book, but not resolved. But the views from the property were second to none and it was very comfortable.
