"Excellent stay in the Stanley Barn."
We absolutely loved it here and so did our dog on her first break away. Lovely and clean, beautiful furnishings and decor. Thank you for the little touches of the toiletries and prosecco and biscuits. We would highly recommend and stay here again
Thank you so much for your lovely review. I’m so happy you enjoyed your stay at Stanley Barn . Hopefully we will hear from you again in the future. Best wishes Property Owner

"What a lovely cottage."
View from the lounge was wonderful. Beautifully decorated. It had everything we needed and was well stocked with all little extras such as soap and toilet roll etc. lovely to have a welcome bottle of Prosecco and box of chocolates! The only thing was the garden wasn’t enclosed as stated. We luckily found a metal gate in the shed that we could use on the steps to stop our small dog escaping. The field was lovely but again not enclosed for a small dog as the fences had large gaps he could fit through. We were able to manage this by keeping our dog on a long lead. But overall a wonderful stay. Thank you.
Thank you very much for your nice review. I’m so happy you enjoyed your stay . Thank you for your feedback back regarding the paddock . I will have a look at any gaps a small dog could get through and put some extra fencing in place . Best wishes and thanks for choosing Stanley Barn for your holiday . Property Owner

"Property was idyllic, equipped with everything you needed, the outside space for your dogs was an absolute bonus."
Beautiful house, perfect location, comfortable, spotless. Would definitely return
-
"Probably the best holiday cottage my dogs have ever stayed at!"
A really lovely, comfortable home for us all for the week with everything we needed! Gorgeous views from the living room to start and end every day, the house is beautifully furnished and well equipped. The dogs loved having the field to run around in and the dog wash room was a blessing with so much muddy country side for us to explore around the area.
-
"Beautiful holiday cottage we had a lovely stay at your barn, everything was just perfect only issue that needs fixing is the tiles were quite unstable near the down stairs bed room."
We thoroughly enjoyed it and would defiantly come back.
-
"We had a great stay at Stanley Barn, there was a lovely welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived which was well appreciated."
The property was well equipped and comfortable, there was Amazon prime on the tv and the location of the cottage was scenic and peaceful, ideally situated for the Hadrian walk trail which we enjoyed. Overall very pleased with the property and our holiday and would recommend Stanley Barn.
-
"We had a great stay overall, it’s really lovely here and we appreciated the pooch parlour for our two dogs so much!"
There was a bit of a hiccup when we got there as the cleaner hadn’t been so it was a bit messy and the beds weren’t made but Tracy came over that evening to sort everything out for us! Lovely peaceful location with lots of adventures to be had!
-
"We visited Stanley Barn in June of this year, we enjoyed it so much we returned to stay in this beautiful home again in August , this time my sister and brother in law came with us and also our dog Lottie ."
We had a wonderful time there .

"Booked Stanley barn for a week away with husband,6yr old son and parents and our pup Nova."
Beautiful barn. We had everything we needed and were very comfortable. Beds very comfy and we all slept well after busy days out. Garden lovely and Tracey gave us some gates to put across the steps as we were worried nova would try to escape( she didn’t ) she loved running around the field which was secure. We went to a lovely pub called the Duke of Cumberland in castle cannock to meet up with family and we highly recommend this pub which does excellent food. The cottage is right on Hadrian’s wall. Good place for walkers. Went to birdoswolds English heritage site which was fab and worth a visit. Lanercost priory just down the road was interesting also EH. Carlisle about 35 mins ,Gretna green 30 mins and Keswick 1 hr, all worth a visit. We had a wonderful stay here and the views from the cottage were lovely. Peaceful area and cows and sheep in field opposite. 2 donkeys up the road were very sweet and always came to say hello. Thank you Tracey we all loved your cottage and would love to come back one day.

"We absolutely loved this property."
It was our first time staying in a cottage we would usually book a caravan and we must say we will definitely be booking again. The facilities and decor are fantastic a real cosy home from home. It’s remote enough to offer peace and quiet yet everywhere is easily accessible. We managed to get out and see 4 of the big lakes during our stay. Dog friendly lovely enclosed field and driveway. This place will always hold a special place for us and we used it as our base to get married. Gretna Green is only a short car ride away so it really was perfect for us. There was a lovely hamper full of goodies for when we arrived which was a real personal touch. Thank You for having us and we will definitely be back to stay at Stanley Barn again Sarah and family

"Stayed in a few holiday cottages and this is probably the best."
Everything you need is there, comfortable surroundings, very well maintained and clean. Perfect for a dog, the enclosed field was great for exercise and the pooch parlour was a great addition. Lovely welcome pack and away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to lots of areas of interest.

"We had a lovely stay at Stanley Barn and would love to live there ❤️"
-
"Stanley Barn was an absolutely amazing place to stay."
The decor is beautiful, it was very clean and had everything you needed! The location was perfect stunning views and extremely peaceful but only a short drive into town for necessities. We all enjoyed our stay here and would definitely highly recommend!
-
"The pictures do not do the cottage justice and the reality was far greater."
The Cottage had everything wr needed for a relaxing break and the addition of the field meant our dog had plenty of space to run. We had our elderly mum with us and she had a lovely birthday afternoon tea at a place less than 3 miles away. I would highly recommend Sanley Barn and give it 5 stars.
-
"The cottage was a "truly get away from it all" experience based on location and the property."
Attention to detail for the users were the best we have had yet including the pooch parlour for washing our dogs after one of the many walks in the various locations within reasonable driving distances. We would not hesitate to book this cottage again.
-
"We had a wonderful week in this lovely, super cosy cottage."
Lovely decor - each room different. En suite was gorgeous. Amazing hamper on arrival and the walking to the local bits of Hadrian's wall was perfect for adults and dogs. Also Birdoswald very close by and a trip to Carlisle for a little shop was handy too (with teenagers).

"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stanley Barn."
Beautiful property and location. So peaceful and loved having the sheep, cows and donkeys (Dougal and Hamish who our children fell in love with) so close by. Lovely welcome hamper. Great walks, pubs and tea rooms. We would definitely stay again.
-
"We loved our stay at Stanley Barn, it is amazing if you have dogs and children!"
-
"We enjoyed a short break at Stanley Barn last week and loved the house and its position, right on the Hadrian's Wall path."
Both interior and exterior are beautiful, and it was a real delight to explore the house and garden. We felt very welcome, with everything we needed to hand. The little house in the garden for the dog was particularly charming, and very useful when we returned from walks etc. We played games in the field, soaked up the sun on the terrace and walked on the long distance path. Just wish the holiday had been longer! Thank you, and we hope to be back before too long.
-
"Excellent accommodation, conveniently located for Brampton / Carlisle / Lakes / North Pennines and not to far for the coast at Allonby."
We could not have asked for a better location and accommodation for us and our dogs. The pooch parlour made the dogs trip at a lot easier, and the enclosed garden is massive. The barn was a great size and totally fitted our requirements. Highly recommended
-
"Superb cottage."
Real thought has gone into the decoration & finishing touches. Clean throughout & homely feel. Well maintained garden & outside area. Fabulous, thoughtful welcome hamper & bathroom extras . Dogs well catered for. Friendly neighbours. Peaceful, perfect location for our Hadrian’s Wall trip, with lots of the best points of interest virtually on the doorstep. Highly recommended . ( One little suggestion, in downstairs bedroom, to remove 2 top shelves in corner cupboard & replace with a hanging rail, would be really useful, as there is plenty of other drawer space) Excellent cottage all round. It’s top of our list.
-
"Lovely place, would highly recommend it."
-
"Great property, very cosy with everything you would need."
Would definitely return
-
"Fantastic, A very relaxing place to stay with everything you need."
-
"A beautiful peaceful retreat."
Scenic views. Cottage decor was immaculate. Heating wouldn’t work one night but the cottage was still warm. The owner came straight out to fix it. Overall 5/5 stars
-
"Beautiful property in an idyllic setting!"
Perfect for dogs having the pooch parlour. The barn is immaculate and is beautifully decorated with everything you need. On arrival in the evening the owner Tracey had left everywhere lit including the Christmas tree and candles which was a warm welcome! There was also a lovely luxury welcome hamper for us to enjoy! There are lovely walks straight from the door. I honestly could have stayed the whole of Christmas it was so relaxing. Just the unwind we needed! Look forward to returning at some point as the outside area is lovely too! Highly recommended!! x

Very dog friendly. Would return to this cottage again . Owner really gave a lot of attention to detail. Welcome pack was very unexpected but gorgeous
-
"Stanley Barn was spacious with comfortable beds and nice facilities."
Tip for parents: bring a baby monitor as it is a very well insulated building. The patio, garden and field are great especially for families with children and a dog! We had a lot of fun.
-
"Really enjoyed our week at Stanley Barn."
Wonderful cottage. Generous hamper of goodies on arrival. Brilliant touches like the complimentary toiletries in the bathrooms. Thanks to Tracy for coming round to check we were ok. The barn really lives up to it's five star rating. Highly recommended.
-
"Had to come home 2days early due to not being able to sleep in the beds."
So uncomfortable. My family managed to stay two days for the same reason.
-
"This property is situated in a beautiful part of the country."
The property is stunning and provided the six of us with comfort. The owner came to visit us after we arrived, to check everything was okay. We had also been left some basics to get us started, which was a nice touch. From the moment we arrived, we all felt relaxed. Both the interior and exterior are of an extremely high standard. The property is just far enough to feel out in the country, but not to far from the local shops and other amenities. The week flew by and sadly before long it was time to leave. Thank you Tracy for allowing us to stay in this lovely property, in a wonderful part of the world. This holiday will not be forgotten. Regards JF

"What a beautiful place to stay from the welcome when we arrived, the welcome hamper was a lovely touch."
It was warm, clean and we wouldn't hesitate to re-book. The views were beautiful and so quiet at night. The shower room for the dogs is an excellent idea. We just wish we could have stayed longer. Thankyou

"What a beautiful house!"
Absolutely everything has been thought about. We have loved every second of our weekend break away and really hope to come back soon. The welcome hamper was the extra special touch with the homemade jam and rum butter. Thank you for making our break so relaxing.

"We really enjoyed stanley barn, especially the sunset living room, so nice!"
Beautifully decorated and comfortable. Close to everything, beautiful landscapes of both lake district and North Pennines AONB. We need to come back to be able to enjoy it all. Thank you again very pleased.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stanley Barn."
The cottage has everything one could need or want. It's very comfortable with all the luxuries. It's located in a very private setting & it's very quiet. I am a light sleeper but I slept like a baby whilst at Stanley Barn. A very nice & thoughtful touch was the welcome basket the owner left for us & also for our dog Snoopy. We enjoyed everything, especially after long hikes. The cottage is truly a home away from home. Can't wait to return!

The property
Brampton 3.9 miles.
Perfectly positioned amidst the Cumbrian countryside and nestled between the Scottish borders and the North Pennines AONB is Stanley Barn, a beautifully appointed conversion on the outskirts of Brampton.
With its tranquil rural setting and a boutique interior design, Stanley Barn is a rare find for families or groups of six to call home as they enjoy the delights of Cumbria and beyond.
Enter into the striking stone-built barn and be welcomed into the kitchen/diner, where the modern kitchen suite, containing all the modern touches and integrated appliances one would expect balances the traditional features of the period property.
Adjoining the kitchen space is the dining table, surrounded by a quaint décor, which is complemented by the electric fire, sitting within a stone-built reveal; the focal point of this room.
Slip through the door to discover the sitting room, styled with a seamless blend of contemporary and charm, with the plush L-shape sofa inviting you in to tune into the TV or bask in the sunshine beaming in through the large patio doors, with the feature stone windows echoing the property's past.
Concluding the ground floor is the elegantly appointed double bedroom, boating refreshing hues of yellow and quality linens to ensure that sleep comes easy at the end of a bracing day.
The master bedroom can be found on the first floor, where exposed beams frame the plush double bed, piled with gorgeous cushions and the archway provides access to the en-suite, where Victorian-style tiling lies beneath an elegant roll-top bath and a spacious walk-in shower.
The third and final bedroom is made up of two single beds, good storage space and the beams again highlight the history of this magnificent property.
At Stanley Barn, the garden has been designed to be an extension of the house itself, where you can look forward to spending sunny afternoons on the large stone paved terrace outside the sitting room, as you savour the sunshine from the outdoor furniture and your canine companions roam the large lawn area freely!
If you can tear yourself away from this rural oasis, venture into the nearby market town of Brampton, where you will find a plethora of shops to explore, as well as pubs and tearooms to enjoy meals after a bracing day of the exploring the surrounding area.
Talkin Tarn Country Park is also nearby, where you and your loved ones can look forward to discovering the 65-acre lake set amid 120-acres of farmland and woodland or you could visit Gelt Woods for more gentle walking opportunities with a RSPB nature reserve to also enjoy.
Of course, Hadrian’s Wall is not to be missed whilst here, walk along this historic landmark and discover an array of ruins scattered along the way including turrets, castles and forts.
Other attractions include visiting the Solway Aviation Museum, the Walby Farm Park, The Cricket club which has a bar and the Lanercost Priory & Tea Rooms, offering something for all ages and tastes.
More outdoor adventure can be found slightly further afield in the scenic North Pennines AONB, where you can take on the challenge of climbing the peaks of Cold Fell, Great Blacklaw Hill, Pike Rigg and Black Fell, alternatively, you could head in the other direction to visit Gretna Green in Scotland for a unique day out.
With all of this to enjoy and much more, secure your stay at Stanley Barn for a fun-filled holiday.
About the location
BRAMPTON, CUMBRIA
Carlisle 10 miles.
The market town of Brampton is the ideal base for exploring Hadrian’s Wall. The town boasts a rich and colourful history going back to the Roman occupation, Border reivers from Scotland and the Jacobite uprisings, plus bonnie Prince Charlie established his headquarters in one of the old buildings in Brampton. In the centre of the town is Moot Hall, which was built in 1817, and now houses the Tourist Information Centre, and there is a large motte to the east of the town, which is 135 feet high and has the statue of the 7th Earl of Carlisle on it. A few miles outside Brampton is Talkin Tarn Country Park. It covers 120 acres of farmland and woodland, 65 of which make up the Tarn, a 10,000 year old glacial lake, fed by underwater springs. Two miles away is Gelt Woods, which is an ancient woodland and RSPB nature reserve and has the River Gelt running through it. Brampton is a wonderful base for exploring this historic and scenic area.
