"This property is outstanding!"
10/10! It is fitted out with everything you need for your stay. Rooms are amazing, I cannot fault it at all. Felt home from home. Family bathroom is huge. Lovely patio area out back with furniture. When we arrived it had been all decorated for Christmas. Would highly recommend and we will stay again at some point! We are regulars to broughton as our daughter lives near to the cottage and we are fortunate we get to stay at her home but this time we needed a place to stay due to family occasion and I had noticed how beautiful this place looked walking and driving past and it really is! 2 Pubs close by to walk to, (one offering food) free parking on square, butchers, food shop, post office, bakers antique shop, information centre, petrol station and foxfield station not far away.

"Beautiful cottage."
Ample space for 6 adults. Village was lovely with everything you may need. Lighting in kitchen is quite dim, brighter bulbs would help. Information on recycling and bin days would be beneficial as we missed the collection. Otherwise very good value for money.

"A lovely cottage in a really beautiful and welcoming village location."
Great pub with very good food in walking distance. Good location for short or longer dog friendly walks. Superb areas further afield - more unspoilt area of Lake District. Couldn’t get the fire to work downstairs but heating was good enough (I know - even in July - blame the terrible British summer!). Road out front was a little off as cars would drive quite fast past house though not extremely busy being a village. Overall a lovely spacious cottage in a great location.

"Lovely cottage in a very beautiful village."
The cottage is very roomy and has lots of facilities including a dish washer and washing machine. The kitchen and the lounge are very spacious and you can cook using the oven which also has a microwave option. There is a walk minutes from the cottage which was perfect for us to take the dog for a run about and it’s got 2 small lakes and is on a country estate. We had a great week at The Anvil and went to Windermere, Ullverston and Grasmere to name just a few places we visited within a short distance away.

"Place lovely but no personal touches like welcome pack ect which we usually get with Sykes ."
Fire and telly’s upstairs not working . Had been reported back in April with visitors book but not fixed . Apart from those gripes had a lovely week in a comfortable house .

"Anvil cottage was excellent and better than expected."
Large and spacious rooms and spotless, it was ideal for us. The location is excellent too, a very short work to the pub, coudl park right outside and well located too. Only negatives are very minor and I'm only mentioning them as the host might not be aware. The freezer door was open slightly and iced up. I removed the trays in the way and left out but coudl do with a proper de-fiost. Also, I feel every holiday let should provide salt, pepper and olive oil / cooking oil. Costs pennies and nobody wants to buy a load for a few days. Thank you for a great stay though :)
Thank you for your lovely comments glad you had a good stay and Thank you also for letting us know about the freezer I’ll speak to the cleaner who should have spotted it. I will definitely get in the things you have mention . Property Owner

"We had a wonderful stay at the Anvil."
Beds were really comfy and facilities all great. Only comment would be kitchen flooring needs replacing. Very bumpy and difficult to move bar stools on.
Hi Mrs Crawford , Thank you for your feedback and glad you had a wonderful stay. We took your comments on board and have now had a new flooring put down in the kitchen and utility rooms. Property Owner

"Absolutely wonderful."
The pictures do not begin to do it justice. It's far bigger than you think. Brilliantly located, in the little town / village with a great grocery shop, butchers and bakery as well as post office / newsagent - all less than 4 minute walk. Great for heading out to the coast or into the lakes proper. Couple of great walks from the back door, as well as too many to name a short or medium drive away. Would happily stay again. Host / Manager dealt with any queries etc with real speed and willingness to help but not at all intrusive etc. Brilliant.

About the location
BROUGHTON-IN-FURNESS
Millom 7.5 miles; Coniston 9 miles; Ulverston 9.5 miles.
Dating back to the 11th century, Broughton-in-Furness is situated in the south western corner of the Lake District and is just six miles from Coniston Water. There is much to please the visitor such as a pretty, cobbled square complete with a splendid horse chestnut tree, enclosed by shops, pubs and homes, many of them Georgian in origin. The village provides an ideal base for a walking or climbing holiday, with ample opportunity to explore the rugged beauty of the Duddon Valley and the quieter Lake District fells. Norman Nicholson, one of Britain's finest 20th century poets and William Wordsworth, both immortalised this area in their writing and poetry. The village was home to Branwell Bronte, brother of the Bronte sisters, for a short time. The Furness railway line runs from nearby Foxfield and makes for an ideal day out, travelling the west coast of Cumbria. Set amidst the charm of the Lake District and close to the sea, this attractive town makes an inspiring choice from which to further explore a magical heartland of silver lakes, lofty towering peaks and lonely, heather-clad moors.
