  • "Our holiday was booked a year in advance."

Sykes were always at the end of the phone to us and even with the issues we faced just the day before they managed to rehouse us so quickly and efficiently. The owner of the home was so welcoming and friendly when we spoke. The house was like a dream dolls house. We had everything we needed inside and out. The house was so clean and tidy. Our kids loved every second of being there. The pool was great and couldn't fault any staff. We were so happy with everything that we have booked again!!

My English Springer spaniel Molly who is 12 years old loved it too whom was recuperating from surgery and this is just what she needed. We would recomend this accommodation to family and friends.

  • "This lodge was a great find."

The kids had an amazing week, it’s well situated so the kids get freedom to roam and they loved the on-site facilities. All the basics were definitely covered over our stay and we’d definitely book again if heading to the area.

  • "We had a very disappointing stay."

Please note that there is no longer a hot tub at the property. I have asked Sykes to update the listing. We had no reason to doubt that there was a hot tub since the owner emailed us detailed instructions a few days before our arrival. When asked for permission to leave early both Sykes and the owner refused to consider a compromise despite having sent false information. There was no accountability. In addition, while Sykes claims that you can use the communal swimming pool with the purchase of a swimming pass, this has to be booked in advance, so it may not be available to you during busy times. This makes the nightly fee very expensive for the available facilities. To point out the positive, the property is clean and the kitchen is well equipped. I’d just recommend staying someplace where the owner, and the managing agent, actually care if you enjoy the property.

  • "We had a nice holiday, the lodge was in a good position and well equipped."

However we felt that the lodge particularly the kitchen area was well worn and in need of some TLC. Could have been cleaner. The hot tub was nice and well maintained but very open to people passing.

We always appreciate guest feedback and act on it where appropriate. We have appointed a new cleaning company who have proved to be very popular with our clients. As part of our regular review we have also upgraded the kitchen with some new appliances eg microwave and have worked hard to make sure our lodge provides a lovely setting for your holiday. We have also added sun beds for the large decking area. Property Owner

  • "Well equipped and tidy."

Some lounger type chairs for outside would have been appreciated and a sun brolly for the exterior table. Otherwise owners have thought of everything. Plot is more 'exposed than we would have liked, e.g. hot tub on main thoroughfare and its a bit tired inside. Location good for Windermere and around.

Despite the weather it was a lovely break away. We couldn't use the hot tub due to the weather but the lodge was lovely very homely and cosy just what we needed. The lodge was exceptionally clean.

  • "The property was very poorly cleaned."

Very bad mold in bedrooms, debris left behind from previous guests, and sticky utensils in the kitchen. Considering cleanliness should be a top priority due to covid I would urge investigation on this property. I have contacted the owner the day of my return to explain the situation but no reply as yet. I sent an email along with photos showing how bad the cleanliness is. I paid just under £1300 for a new years eve getaway and I feel I have been ripped off! The park itself needs an overhaul, the cleanliness within the pool area was also appalling. My family and I considered leaving early, but after having 3 previous holidays canceled due to Covid we decided to preserve and stay. I think due to Covid the park is understaffed, I would have rather been told that my holiday was canceled due to staff shortage than stay in such poorly cleaned accommodation. I won't be recommending White Cross Bay or this lodge to anyone, anytime soon.

It had everything in the lodge that we needed. The toaster could do with replacing as I cut my finger on the sharp steel as I was cleaning it. But everything else was perfect.

All clean and beds made up on arrival, ideally located for access to all the amenities and of course an excellent hot tub for a soak at the end of the day doesn't get much better

  • "Great holiday home, had a fabulous stay."

Facilities in lodge were great everything you would need. Hot tub was well maintained and cleaned and checked regular. Park facilities were good with the access to the lake via marina for launching kayak or paddleboard. Would recommend 4 Grasmere for your stay, ideally situated for Winderemere/ Bowness, Ambleside and Grasmere, good access to local bus service just outside of park.

  • "Getting a refund after you cancelled our original booking was too lengthy."

We spent hours on hold and waited too long to get the money back. You need to do better. There is a protruding screw near the hot tub which I injured my foot on. This needs sorting before someone is more seriously injured. The floor had crumbs on it when we arrived. This did not give us confidence that the property had been cleaned to covid standards. The mattresses were so uncomfortable that I ended up sleeping on the sofa. Having stayed in many lodges previously the condition of the lodge did not justify the price.

  • "There was an issue with the shower, so we ended up with cold showers for 3 days."

The hot taps were all fine, I’ve told the owner, who didn’t respond to this point or apologise for the inconvenience caused. The £100 security deposit we had to pay direct to the owner, they didn’t pay back after the 7 days I had to chase twice for it to be returned and it was 9 days since return by then, which makes me think twice about booking anything in the future where you have to pay out more than the lodge. £641 for 3 nights in that accommodation was expensive, I appreciate they’ve lost income with the COVID pandemic but it was definitely not worth that sort of money. I would of at least expect a warm shower anyway! Hot tub was perfect and it has a lovely big veranda. The internet was pretty rubbish, which was a shame for our daughter.

Thank you for your comments. Your feedback is very out of character for this cottage as the comments and scores are usually very high I am sorry that you had problems with the showers. The owners are on hand during your trip to help with any issues and had they been notified, they would have sorted out the issue for you straight away. The bond is always paid back within 7 days of the holiday ending. The owner did contact you after the trip to ask for your details so she could arrange the transfer. This bond is only retained if any damage is caused We do have a note on the property to advise that the WIFI is intermittent so that Customers are aware of this before their stay Thank you for your comments about the veranda and the hot tub Property Owner

Angela very easy to deal with prior to arrival. Key safe to collect keys, and you get the barrier code from reception. Lodge located in a quiet part of the White Cross Bay holiday park, but ideally located between Windermere and Ambleside, with bus stops at the park entrance. . Everything was there that you would need, TV, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, towels, crockery etc. We were a family of 4 but the lodge does sleep 6. Very clean and welcoming. Hot tub was fantastic and we made plenty of use of that. We had rain for a good portion of the week but the lodge was lovely and snug with central heating keeping it constantly warm. Shower was as it should be, hot with a good water pressure. No negatives at all and we would love to return one day. Would definitely reccomend to any couples of families looking for a Lake Disrict break.
