  • "We enjoyed our stay at Burnt Mill Cottage, it brought back happy childhood for my husband."

We know Sedbergh and surrounding very well and was nice to return. The cottage was a good size for a larger party and was value for money.

  • "The property was absolutely perfect for our family - plenty of room for all of us and very comfortable."

Situated in a perfect area with so much to do around us, we all had an amazing week and enjoyed a lot of local walks. It is also within a short distance to Windermere and other lakes but in a lovely peaceful setting. I would most definitely recommend this property and area to everyone. David was a wonderful host too, giving good advice on places to go and always at hand if needed.

Thankyou so much for your kind feedback, so glad you had a fab family time together. Property Owner

  • "This cottage is a gem of a find!"

There were 8 adults… plenty of room! The kitchen/ dining was so practical and stylish … plenty of utensils etc… so many dinners made there. Lovely and warm ( the weather was cold and wet some of the days)… a very useful utility for coats/ shoes etc.. a good sized garden at the back which our dog loved… I can’t recommend this cottage enough… 5*

Dear Jeanie & Brian, thank you so much for your kind and generous words. We’re ’made up’ that you all had a wonderful time. Hope to see you again soon. Take care, David & Andi Property Owner

  • "The attic bedroom could do with some were to hang clothes."

Thank you, that’s a great shout out. We’re going to be fitting 2 smallish black metal towel rails onto the wooden eaves, which will carry 4 clothes hangars each, to provide hanging space without disturbing the aesthetic of the room too much. Thanks again for the feedback. Property Owner

Plenty of room for 2 families, the kitchen/dining space was jaw-dropping, the open fireplace in the living room was very cozy and the garden was a joy to spend time with Skye (our labrador). Definitely be booking this cottage again during our next visit to the lakes and I'll recommend all family and friends.

About the location

SEDBERGH

Kendal 11.5 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 11.8 miles, Hawes 15.8 miles.

The attractive old market town of Sedbergh (pronounced Sed-Ber), with its old-world atmosphere, is not only set in the magnificent western dales of the Yorkshire Dales National Park but is also close to the rugged eastern fells of the Lake District. The town, with its narrow streets, little shops, traditional pubs, famous school dating back to 1525 and its 12th century church, has been a thriving community for hundreds of years, with a market dating from the 13th Century. Leading from Sedbergh is Dentdale, the jewel of the Yorkshire Dales with its rolling hills and dry-stone walls, stretching 14 miles from the windswept moors below Whernside to the confluence of the Rivers Dee and Rawthey. At the centre of the dale is Dent, with its cobbled streets, which has existed since Norman times and nearby Dent railway station is on the renowned Settle-Carlisle railway line. There are three golf courses nearby, as well as tennis, riding, and fishing, and the area is a paradise for walkers, ramblers, runners, and cyclists. This, together with the tranquillity of the surrounding valleys, the two National Parks and it being England's book town, makes an ideal year-round holiday destination.
