"Great location for getting around the area."
Nice little square with a bakery, local store, Chinese chip shop, and a lovely little post office, but it is a very busy thoroughfare, and can be noisy into the late evening. There is a pub, which was part way through a refurb, and was lively with the locals, if that's your thing. The property was clean, but lacked maintenance, with a door dangerously hanging off and lighting in the kitchen hanging down! Kitchen was well equipped, with a dish washer but the fridge freezer has seen better days. The garden was very overgrown, with holes in the hedge and fence, which we had to try and block, but it wasn't safe for our dog. The side alley leads straight onto a busy road and was to risky to let him out. There was also signs of rats in the raised planter, which was another risk to far. Certainly didn't resemble the photos in afraid.

"We had a lovely stay at Mollies Cottage."
The cottage was very comfortable and so well located for facilities - a dog friendly pub literally next door, chip shop two doors away and convenience shop and bakery just across the square! Flookburgh is ideally located for visiting the pretty village of Cartmel, Grange over Sands and Holker Hall. The garden of the cottage could benefit from a bit of TLC but that’s being picky, and we would love to return for a longer stay sometime.

"Nice little cottage, well situated for amenities and attractions."
Fairly well equipped. Stair bannister needs fixing to stop wobbling and as I am a little wary on steps could do with a handrail up the garden steps too. Our dog loved secure garden. Very cool inside and WiFi excellent. Pub next door does good pub menu but best by far was The Pheasant at Allithwaite, highly recommended.

"Lovely cottage in an ideal location."
Central for seeing the Lakes with plenty of nice walks locally. Cark train station just around the corner great for getting up and down the coast. Parking fine and pub next door was very handy as food served was very nice. Might consider booking near the weekend!.Cottage was well equipped with everything you need.

"Lovely cottage but in need of a full clean."
On arrival we found beer cans on the patio, a black bag full of rubbish and a large empty bag just left by the gate. There was also a glass that had been used as an ashtray just left on the window ledge. The dog crate still had water in the bowl. The bathroom needs a hook or towel rail and a shelf in the shower as nowhere to put toiletries while showering. The evening of our arrival we were greeted to the road outside the cottage being dug up and resurfaced this went on for 2 nights into the early hours...We have had a lovely time, would I return...yes as long as had a full clean throughout and general maintenance done.

"Overbearing smell in lounge of dirty, sweaty dogs."
Had to spend evenings on my bed reading. Opened all doors constantly to try to clear the smell, to no avail. I have always had dogs, but not now and all my family have, but our homes never smelled like that. The upholstery and the last dog in need a good shampoo. Stone beneath rug, broken hearth brush on mantlepiece and rug, curled at edges a trip hazsrd. Think the cleaners came in, made beds and got out as quick as they could. Sadly, very disappointed as it's a lovely cottage.

"Absolutely loved Molly's Cottage especially its location next to a Pub, Post Office, Fish & Chip Shop, Bakery, Chemist and Mini-Market."
My dog {co-incidentally called Molly) loved the secure rear garden too.
-
"We had a great stay and cottage exceeded our expectations."
Even down to spare torch batteries! Thankyou.
-
"Generally a fairly good cottage, good location and a good base for getting about."
Comfortable and cosy. Only real problem was no markings on oven controls which meant you could not tell what the settings or temperature was.
-
"Mollys cottage was perfect for us, just as described, everything we needed, the garden area was excellent for our dog even dog bowls provided."
.The location was ideal next to the Hope and Anchor pub- very dog friendly, bakery heavenly if you want to take a picnic, if you haven't visited Flookburgh before its a must. The food in the pub was excellent and not over priced. The cottage was clean and very comfortable the owners have thought of everything we would definitely reccomend it . "We went all the way from Germany to Cumbria and I can just say: It was worth the long journey."
Molly´Cottage is very lovely, comfortable, modern and well equipped house. Perfect for families and also if you travel with a dog. There is nice garden behind the house. A pub on right, a Fish&Chips on left, a bakery, a post office, a pharmacy and a convenience store, everything a few seconds away from the cottage. We really enjoyed to stay here.

"The property was excellent in every aspect apart from the cleanliness."
This really does need addressing if I'm honest, especially as the check in has been put back until 1700 and check out has been brought forward to 0900 due to 'enhanced cleaning'. On arrival we had to put cutlery and crockery through the dishwasher as they were dirty and also had to clean underneath the glass chopping boards as they still had crumbs from the previous occupants. Also, when you looked a bit closer in other areas there was a lot of cobwebs and dog hairs etc. The shower also needs a decent clean, this was pretty poor tbh. The garden area was nice but needs a bit of tlc...grass cutting, hedges timed etc. Don't get me wrong, the overall experience was great and we would return, but only if the cleaning is improved. We did give feedback direct to Sykes but unfortunately never heard anything back, hence the review. Hopefully the owners get to see this feedback and can address this with the private cleaning company as I would hate them to be unaware of these issues if they are paying service fees.

"Had a comfortable stay surprised how big the house was !"
Is in great location three pubs nearby, great Chinese & chippy next door ! Local store has everything and is a good price I agree with previous comments about light coming into bedroom early ! Just needs a curtain maybe . Would definitely stay here again dog loved the enclosed garden too !
-
"9am checkout is early considering you are requested to clean the property and leave it as you found it which I find a little unusual."
Also a key factor in choosing Mollys Cottage was the woodburner stove being the Lakes with unpredictable weather but on arrival not even a small 'starter 'pack of logs/kindling! Never realised just how busy/noisy the junction outside the property would be from 7am onwards, added to by the builders who started at 7am on the Hope and Anchor, throwing rubble down the shoot into a skip at 7am!!!Needless to say we had words to discuss his future timings!

"Will definitely return been twice now ."
.. superb holiday home.

"This was our third visit to Molly's Cottage and we once again had a fantastic time."
The cottage is clean and well equipped. The location is great. We hope to return soon.
Thanks so much Jenni. Really great having you back again and we really appreciate your continued custom Property Owner

"We were very happy with the property, it was well appointed and comfortable."
The bed was comfortable and spacious. Only negative was an extreme lack of hangers and that the blinds in the bedroom let in a lot of outside light around the edge of the window. Being light sensitive, I found this difficult. Curtains covering the edge of the window would have helped keep out the very bright outside light. Great having a tv in the bedroom but remote didn’t work. Otherwise the property was fine. We were lucky with the weather and found the people we came across warm and friendly. Flookburgh felt like a nice place. The position of the house was central to all your needs, all within two minutes walk from the property. The garden was secure enough for our elderly dog, not so sure that a younger, nosier dog could be left unattended, think they could have escaped. Weather was too cold to make use of the garden but certainly would in warmer weather. We enjoyed our time very much, many thanks to our hosts for providing us with such a thoughtfully organised place to stay. Ian , Helen & Maggie ❤️

"Lovely stay ."
Thank you. Very comfortable ,well equipped house. Nice and warm inside even though weather outside was cold wet and windy. Hope to return some time.

"The cottage interior was lovely, with very spacious rooms."
Unfortunately what let it down was the mattress on the double/kingsize bed, it is that thin you can feel the springs and I had a terrible nights sleep on both nights we were there. I would have gone home early after the first nights bad sleep, but I didn't want to ruin it for the other guests! Also the duvet cover had yellow stains on it. The water temperature was luke warm and never really got hot. There were no shelves in the shower to put your toiletries on and no where to hung your towels up in the bathroom. The garden was very over grown, the fence is falling down on the left hand side, there were little nooks and crannies that my dog could have got out of the garden if left unsupervised and the grassed area at the back was full of dog poo, so I was unable to let my dog out in the garden on his own at all.
Thank you so much for your feedback. We have replaced the mattress and installed a new fence. Property Owner

"Really enjoyed our stay at Mollys cottage, was fab."
Just the garden was disappointing, although it was secure, it was in need of an upgrade, fence was falling over, grass needed cutting, and the slabs and steps were all green and slippy. It would t take long to sort this and it would look so much better.

"Excellent location for visiting the lakes."
Much larger property than expected and amenities so near. Would definitely stay again.
-
"We had a most enjoyable week."
The cottage was very comfortable and homely. The facilities provided were excellent, over and above what was expected, even supplying a large dog cage and dog poo bags. We would definitely consider returning sometime. The information provided for access etc was excellent.
-
"The cottage is in good condition and the location is really convenient, right in the centre of the village next to a pub and takeaway and opposite a convenience store and bakery."
Found the location between the coast and the Lake District really convenient, ideal for trips to Windermere, Coniston and the coast.
-
"Just one small niggle, the garden was rather overgrown and I had to take a pair of scissors to the plants/hedges so that we could get through to use the garden furniture."
But overall very pleased with the cottage. Very well equipped and very clean.
-
"A lovely homely cottage in a great location, we enjoyed every minute of our week's stay."
-
"It was nice and enjoyable we are very happy"
-
"Nice clean cottage catering for all our needs in a nice quiet village very close to local amenities."
-
"Garden needs a face lift, weeds everywhere plus broken fencing."
Cleanliness not the best! Rug in lounge serious trip hazard as we all found out! Can opener absolutely worn done. Refuse bags would be a help! As would some starter toilet rolls. Especially given the price I paid for the cottage.
-
"Great house - perfect (although busy) location."
-
"We found a few maintenance issues, the main one being the shower door doesn't fit, (it appears to be the wrong door) so towels had to be used to avoid water running onto bathroom floor."
It would have been nice to have some cleaning products left to use, also anti bac sanitizer spray and hand gel considering the covid situation. All in all a well equipped, comfortable cottage in an ideal area for exploring Cumbria. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
-
"Lovely cottage and very well equipped."
Great location. Will definitely return
-
"Had a great time at this cottage, excellent facilities such as Netflix and Alexa, only 1 very small drawback, when you are only renting out the cottage for 3 days, things like buying a full bag of sugar, bin bags was a bit of a pain, maybe leave a couple under the sink?"
A really good cottage however and would definitely book again.
-
"Great value, comfortable accommodation."
Well located in the centre of the village, good range of amenities in easy reach. Well maintained property with all the comforts you need. Netflix, Alexa, Wifi available for the kids. All round fantastic value and standard of accommodation.
-
"Lovely cottage in a great little village."
Pub next door, chipshop next door but two, great bakery across the road and shop opposite. Lots of places to visit in the area.
-
"Lovely cottage."
Well equipped. Value for money. Great base for exploring South Lakes.
-
"This is a beautiful newly refurbished cottage with plenty of space for 4 people."
The furnishings are of good quality. The garden is an unexpected bonus with a lovely seating area. A barbecue would be a lovely idea for the summer perhaps ? Ideally located with a dog friendly pub to one side and the take away, general shop, bakery and post office to the other. 5 minutes from Grange over Sands where there are plenty of shops and a promenade to stroll along. Access to the Lake district is an easy drive away. You can park outside the cottage or a few steps away in the village square. It may be mindful to say that people with dogs need to ensure they are kept off the sofas and beds, or else that they are protected, in order to maintain the lovely appearance of this cottage. Would definitely return Thank you

About the location
FLOOKBURGH
Cartmel 2 miles; Grange-over-Sands 3 miles.
A superb base to explore this interesting and beautiful area, the historic village of Flookburgh is set near the shores of Morecambe Bay on the outskirts of the magnificent Lake District. It is thought that the locally-caught Fluke fish take their name after the village, and once, Flookburgh was a popular resting point for travellers crossing the sands from Lancaster and still provides a home for cockle and shrimp fishers. Facilities in the village include two pubs, a grocery, a chemist, a Post Office and two food outlets. The Cumbrian Coastal Way footpath passes nearby and a short walk away from the village is delightful countryside, such as Humphrey Head, views of the bay, with its wading bird life, and Coniston's mountain range. A few minutes’ drive or a pleasant off road walk leads to historic Cartmel, with its beautiful Priory, popular race course, antique and gift shops, pubs and restaurants; including the Michelin Star-rated L’Enclume. Just over a mile away you will find the beautiful house and gardens of Holker Hall and also nearby you can try horse riding just six miles to the north at Bigland, or visit the Edwardian resort of Grange, which offers a range of hotels, restaurants, shops, a traffic-free promenade, ornamental gardens and golf courses.
