  • "We had a fantastic stay at 17 the oaks."

This is a great place to stay whilst you are visiting North Yorkshire. Gallaber Park is a picture perfect place to stay. The lodge is fantastic, contemporary and spacious. the welcome package of tea, coffee, juice, biscuits, bread & jams was a super touch. Mark is the perfect host, on hand if you need anything.

Thank you very much, that’s very kind. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

  • "The holiday property is a 5 star accommodation, The owner had provided by far and above normal expectations making sure we had milk, tea/coffee of different selections, bread, butter, different jams and orange juice on arrival."

All the cooking requirements and more as well as a huge selection of cooking devices and utensils, wow, exceptional, best ever we have ever experienced. Plenty, even more than required, towels and linen and so clean and tidy, I hope we did it justice in leaving it as we found. Even the outside furniture was great. The owner made huge efforts in communicating with us to make sure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. Free WIFI and TV brilliant, helped a lot when internet searching the areas for touring and route finding. If you had supplied a chef, we would have stayed indefinitely. Yorkshire is a wonderful place with lots a interesting places and scenery. This site is ideally placed for a base to tour Yorkshire. The reception were very helpful, even thou this was a private arrangement. There is a pub on site, but do not do food, however there is a meat wagon every other Saturday and a fish and chip wagon every other alternate Friday. But not to worry, there are plenty of small shops and takeaways nearby and larger superstores just a short distance. The closeness of the railway station makes it excellent for train travel to the wider regions, if you want a break from driving. The scenic beauty of Yorkshire is not to be missed and should be added to your bucket list with this site and accommodation. Thank you.

Thanks so much, it means a lot to hear such nice words. I am very glad you enjoyed your stay here. Thank you. Property Owner

  • "The Lodge was beautiful, definitely the best we have ever stayed in."

The location on the park was excellent, and the park itself was very nice and well-maintained, and the free mini-golf was an added bonus and very much appreciated. The only negative, two of the blinds from the living area had been taken down and not replaced so later in the evening you had a feeling of lack of privacy. We would definitely return. Kim Hassan

  • "We had a lovely and relaxing time."

The cabin/cottage was very comfortable, we had everything we needed. The cottage was very clean, there was a nice welcoming basket. Excellent bed and shower. It’s a lovely place to stay and explore the Southern part of the Yorkshire Dales. The only thing we had a problem with, was, that we didn’t know what to do with the rubbish. So we binned everything in a bag and left it near the front door. Hope that was ok.

Thank you for the kind words, I am pleased you had a good stay. Thanks also for the feedback - I will update the in-house notes on the waste and recycling facilities on site. Property Owner

Only request would be for a hairdryer to be provided but this wouldn't affect me staying again.

Thank you for your kind words, very glad you enjoyed your stay. I will be adding a hair dryer as suggested. Property Owner

Hi. Thanks for the feedback, and kind words about the lodge. The property description does not mention shop or restaurant on site, but there is a local shop and many excellent eating places nearby Was not aware of the tv issue so will look at that asap. I thought the toilet was ok again but will take another look at that too. Thanks again. Property Owner

Balcony is a sun trap with comfortable seating. Fully equipped with many added extras & quality kitchenware. Comfortable furniture after a day exploring & very clean. Parking space next to lodge so ideal for people with less mobility. Good communication with owner. As mentioned on another review the TV reception not brill - possibly trees block signal & toilet seat loose. Going again end May - looking forward to our 2nd stay 5*

On arrival there was a loaf of bread, milk, juice, tea and coffee included pods for fresh coffee and biscuits too which my son enjoyed devouring. We have stayed in many lodges over the years and this I would say was one of the best we've stayed in. Also ideally placed for accessing the dales. Definitely would recommend this lodge.

About the location

LONG PRESTON

Settle 4 miles; Malham 4 miles; Skipton 12 miles.

Long Preston is an attractive Yorkshire Dales village in Ribblesdale, twelve miles from Skipton (popularly known as the 'Gateway to the Dales'), four miles from Settle. To the north, the landscape rises to the fells, moors and picturesque valleys of the Dales; to the south are the wetlands of the Ribble Valley which, in turn, sweep upward to the magnificent wilderness of Bowland. The village benefits from several large, tree lined, village greens, with footpaths leading direct to the surrounding hills, and it also boasts two excellent pubs with first rate cuisine. The railway station on the edge of the village provides access to the famous Settle-Carlisle Railway line which crosses some of the most beautiful and inspiring upland scenery in the country. Nearby Settle is a bustling market town with a weekly market, the centre being dominated by the Shambles, an historic 3-storey building with shops on two levels and houses above, and the Town Hall.
