  • "Lovely little lodge in rural setting."

Quite remote but next to farmhouse and another lodge. Scenery beautiful. The owner popped over to check everything was in order. Would recommend.

  • "We had a very relaxed and comfortable stay at South Lodge."

The owners Janice and David are very welcoming, the property is well equipped and spotlessly clean and set in a stunning location. Thank you so much for a highly enjoyable stay.

  • "A lovely little getaway."

The lodge is a good size, extremely clean and comfortable. There is no phone signal whatsoever but this is more than made up for with a very good, super fast WiFi. Better than at home in London! Beautiful views all down the valley and some lovely walks right from the door. Good location for exploring Windermere and the rest of the lakes further afield. Had a wonderful time that went too quickly, would recommend.

  • "South Lodge was very clean , comfortable and made really good use of the space."

The garden outside was a real bonus even in the October sunshine. It is situated on a lovely farm, with superb views in all directions. Longsleddale is very quiet compared with some areas of the Lake District with fabulous views of the stars at night, and we spent much of the week walking and climbing fells in this dale. But it was only 10 minutes from the supermarkets in Kendal, and not far from Windermere , Ambleside and Haweswater. David and Janice were most welcoming, and took time to talk about the farm.

  • "We really enjoyed our holiday to the South Lodge."

The property exceeded our expectations; the inside has recently been refurbished to a high standard and it was spotlessly clean on arrival. The hosts were very welcoming. Perfect for two people.

The owners are brilliant, so welcoming and such nice people. It’s such a quiet, peaceful and tranquil location to be living. I will definitely be stopping here again, in fact I won’t stop anywhere else when visiting the Lake District in future.

  • "Lovely location, very peaceful."

Lodge nicely furnished and very clean. Owners were friendly and welcoming. Didn’t cater to children but I knew that in advance from the description so just bought all the stuff I needed. Would highly recommend to friends and family and would definitely re-visit.

  • "My partner and I had an absolutely lovely time here."

Accomodation 5 stars surroundings absolutely stunning. The owner was very hospitable and showed us round, and explained everything. He even introduced us to his little adorable lambs, who I helped to bottle feed. The accommodation is not to far from the centre, plenty nice shops and restaurants. If you are looking for a peaceful and relaxing time away then you will not be disappointed. Thankyou for a memorable time. Will be returning.

Open shower was issue with water spraying out, and smooth shower floor was real issue resolved with our own mats. Really comfortable & exceptionally clean & well equipped otherwise.

Ideal for a couple or small family, these delightful holiday homes offer a great base for exploring the area on foot, by bike or in the car. With stunning country and hill views, both of these lodges are set on the ground floor, with both having two bedrooms – a double with walk-in wardrobe and a twin, together with an open plan living area. Just six miles away is the market town of Kendal offering stone ruins of a 12th century castle, art gallery, shops and pubs. The National Trust owned Sizergh Castle is close by, as is Levens Hall. Also within reach is the village of Staveley from where you can explore the wonderful Kentmere Valley, and the village itself has shops, a café and a brewery. Also in the area are Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside and whilst staying at one of these lovely holiday homes a trip on the Lakeland Steamer on Lake Windermere is a must. Two charming lodges with plenty of Lake District attractions and places to visit within easy reach.
