  • "Property is showing that it is at the end of a summer season with owners who are perhaps more focused on selling rather than letting."

cobwebs and multiple bulbs out, toilet seat wrongly sized, small window pane with hole in stairwell window, bathroom floor tiles broken. No welcome basket( a pint of milk and a couple of coffee pods to get started would have been perfect ), nice setting but difficult to find due to its setting at the back of the cottages fronting the road.

  • "We loved this cottage."

Since we found it on the site, we were looking forward to staying there. Very stylish decor and charming touches on the wall. (We like mountains so we want the same posters now) As we have teenagers they want own spaces, but can be gathering at dining space and island kitchen. This cottage was perfect for us. We went different places in Lake District by car and walked to the beach during our stay. We found the footpath just off road outside of cottage where can lead to the bottom of the main road. So we didn’t to have to walk main road with our dog. It was good exploring around the beach and town centre on the sunny day. Unfortunately we had a raining day (as usual in Lake District). We just stayed at cottage and had a relaxing time. Only my personal choice but main bed mattress was too soft and so were pillows. The duvet was too warm for me. Unfortunately I couldn’t sleep well. I wish I could have a choice of summer duvets and different pillows. Maybe only me, because my husband said ok and kids said beds were good. Overall we enjoyed cottage holiday in Lake District.

  • "This really is a 5 star property, we just where unlucky!"

The positives: Really nice 3 bed cottage, with everything that you need to have a really comfortable stay! Such as well equipped kitchen, decorated to a modern taste, great TV inc. Sky, great WiFi and event a 7kw electric car charger. The negatives: parking is a bit of a tight squeeze especially in a large car. Sadly for us, we had a electrical issue which meant we had no central heating or hot water during our first nights stay. We contacted the owner, who responded immediately and had somebody come around the next day. This is the only reason for the 4 star, otherwise it would have been a 5 star!

  • "The property was well maintained and well equipped."

It was tastefully done and the kitchen was absolutely fabulous. we cooked a Christmas meal for five without any problems. The only problem was that we had difficulty finding the cottage in the dark (as 4pmm in winter was very dark) and went all the way to the neighbours cottage at the top of the hill. He very kindly came out and guided as to the cottage.

  • "Absolutely stunning cottage in a stunning location!"

We had a great week with 2 8year old boys and a frenchie. Everything was to perfection and I will 100% be returning! Only critique would be that the garden gate does not close and forms part of the shared driveway, so I was more conscious about the boys, but minor :) Thank you for having us! X

Thank you so much for your great feedback! We look forward to welcoming you and your family back soon! X Property Owner

  • "No on street parking lay by 200 yards away on a busy road."

No path to walk from lay by and no lighting on this stretch of road. We had 2 small children we either dropped off at cottage or walk to cottage. This listing needs to change immediately as it states on street parking, which is false

Thanks for taking time to leave your feedback, We are confused as there is private parking at the cottage for 1 car right next to the cottage, to the left of the front door. Once again, thanks for taking the time to provide feedback. Property Owner

We were very lucky with the weather and made the most of sitting in the garden . Only a short walk through the woods into Grange. It is a good base to visit places such as Arnside , Silverdale & Windermere. We will be back

The owners were very helpful over an issue we had and we appreciated their being so accessible. We enjoyed walks from the cottage and along the promenade and we found the shops and a bistro in town very good indeed.

Thank you Richard for taking the time for your review, we really appreciate it! The walks are our favourite part of the location of the cottage, sea one side mountains the other! Property Owner

  • "Pear Tree Cottage is a very welcoming, comfortable and beautifully decorated holiday home."

The pretty garden is well maintained and secluded. The electric charger was the main reason we initially booked as chargers in the Lake District are few and far between, and having one at the cottage relieves any stress of finding one. Grange-Over-Sands proved to be a really good base to explore, also offering walks from the doorstep. Fabulous cafe, bakery and butchers locally which we would definitely recommend. Very friendly town and would certainly return to explore further.

Hi Michael and thank you for leaving your review and good feedback! Yes we also found Grange a very friendly place with lots of amenities but not as manic as other parts of the lake district! Property Owner

  • "Pear Tree Cottage is a charming Lakeland house."

It has been cleverly renovated with a very comfortable open kitchen and dining area which is plenty big enough for six. There is smaller cozy sitting/TV room with a log fire. The bedrooms were also well laid out and a decent size. There are lovely walks from the house and it is well situated for exploring the South Lakes area.

  • "We could quite happily have moved in to Pear Tree Cottage, it’s so beautiful!"

The owners obviously have a keen eye for interiors and have filled the place with stylish, yet comfortable furniture and really lovely fixtures and fittings, plus the odd quirky little feature. It has everything you could possibly need in a home away from home. Don’t be put off by lack of sink in the kitchen. It has a gorgeous little side kitchen/utility just off the main one that houses the sink, dishwasher and washing machine. The big bonus for us, having an electric vehicle, was the charging point. It meant we didn’t have to worry about finding places to charge whilst out and about. It really is one of the nicest cottages we’ve had the pleasure of staying in.

Wow thank you so much for taking the time to leave your great review! We are so happy you liked everything and also appreciated the love we have poured into Pear Tree cottage. Reviews like yours makes it all worthwhile. Sincere thanks once again. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay at Pear Tree Cottage, very well equipped and comfortable."

However I do feel the living room needs more comfortable seating, and I do wonder how 6 people could fit on the one settee. The window seat is not really an option for relaxing in the evening. I do find it a little insulting to be asked to strip the beds prior to departure. This is something I used to have to do years ago when staying at youth hostels. When paying just under a thousand pounds for a 5-night stay, I would have expected this to be part of the housekeeper's role. I have stayed in many cottages over the years and have never been asked to strip beds, and although a 5 minute job, just takes the edge off the stay. I do enough of that at home! Thank you for your feedback we are happy you had good stay. We don't take bookings for 6 adults based on the size of the lounge, only 4 adults max. We really thought about the best way to get more seating in the lounge but due to the solid stone walls and log burner we did the best we could. The kitchen and dining space is much larger and we use that space a lot when we stay for playing games etc. The stripping of beds is a new COVID rule that our cleaners insist on I'm afraid. • "Sink is in a completely different room to the kitchen."

This makes the house not suitable for people with any mobility issues. Vert inconvenient. The bathroom sink is very cracked.

Thank you for your feedback, we hope you found the rest of the cottage and quality to your satisfaction and had a lovely break. Pear Tree Cottage dates back to the 1700s and the layout is certainly quirky! The sink is in the utility room adjacent to the kitchen with kettle, tea and coffee, toaster and microwave. We would agree that the cottage is not suitable for people with mobility issues as the bedrooms and bathroom are on the first floor. Regarding the bathroom sink, it is historic to the cottage and dates back to the 1920's, the glazing is 'crazed' rather than cracked and doesn't leak. Property Owner
