  • "Lovely cottage, thoroughly enjoyed our stay, peaceful and tranquil, isolated from any hustle & bustle."

Excellent quality fixtures& fittings to a high standard. Hot-tub at proper temperature which was great. Pics 1, 2 & 30 misleading as that's a Fire Exit into an inaccessible gated off part of the property, not a main entrance as suggested.

  • "First impression was not great , no privacy - on a caravan site NOT next to one as noted in the listing ."

No privacy , The property should have been listed showing the relationship of the cottage and what the surroundings are, ie a view from the balcony overlooked by at least 10 caravans to manage the customers expectations , Overall the property was really comfortable once inside , the outside space around the hot tub needs some attention as does the hot tub itself . The property itself is great . The location is a good one - but the listing needs to be more transparent . No welcome pack and didn’t meet the owners so no comment on that .

After putting our heart and soul into our cottage, these comments are quite hurtful, and as anyone can see is out of sync with previous reviews. we truly are sorry your holiday wasn't what you felt it should have been. With the cottage been on a working farm, it never is going to be total privacy. The caravans are all privately owned, and the vast majority is only used every now and again by retired people. We do provide, Tea, Coffee, Sugar and milk for a brew on arrival. In our own opinion we don't like to go and meet guests. We like to leave them to get on with their holiday. We do say we live next door if they need anything. Property Owner

The owners have put a lot of thought into providing a home from home. With every need catered for. It is part of a static caravan park, and as mentioned a working farm. But don’t let that stop you from staying at this 5* property. Around a 10min drive to the nearest shops.

  • "Lovely clean cottage with everything needed and a few extra nice touches, such as milk and eggs."

Beds were very comfortable. Hot tub was so relaxing, and the robes and slippers were a nice surprise. The tv channel choices were extensive and again unexpected, so plenty to watch on an evening. Cooker took a bit of working out,, as I had it on defrost, but we got there after reading the manual, same for the electric hob, if like us you have a gas appliance at home, don’t try and wing it. The only thing missing for us, was a gate to close the front entrance off. Only because we took our dog, a husky, and couldn’t leave the door open on a hot day/ evening as she would run off, so we couldn’t risk opening the front door to sit outside in the sun on a morning. There was still 2 other doors to open when it was hot, as they are safely barricaded off to the outside. There are a few owner owned statics, one of the owners introduced himself, he was lovely, and gave us an insight into how the cottage was built, and assured us everything was very safe, gave us tips on local places to visit. So a lovely relaxing break we had, and the first cottage we have ever booked to stay at as it wasn’t expensive.

Cottage is spacious & comfy with well equipped kitchen and two nice bedrooms. We went hiking everyday & it was great to come back at end of each day & enjoy the hot tub. If the weather is bad, although we didn't use them, there are lots of board games provided in cupboard. Only slight negative was some of the kitchen utensils & cutlery were dirty, we had to wash them before use but apart from that, everything was great and we really enjoyed our stay here. There are some static caravans next to the cottage & we spoke to a few of the owners who had been there 16+ years and very friendly.

Lovely touches such as eggs & milk, blankets etc. Even though it wasn’t used, generous gesture providing wood for fire. Hot tub great extra - only comment was that it wasn’t set for a hot temperature when we arrived & didn’t notice until the evening on the Friday so had to wait until the following day to use it. Need a bigger frying pan to cook in! Chopping boards are awful I’m afraid, please get proper solid ones! Would have been nice to have washing up liquid & a sponge provided given that you had gone to the bother of providing dishwasher tablets & tea towels. Slightly disappointing we couldn’t get anywhere down the public footpath leading away from the property. Great quiet park & did not feel overlooked or “monitored” by the fact you lived next door. However the setting was quiet and we were able to let the dogs roam free in the enclosed patio area. We didn't need to stress and the owners had no problem with the nervous dog. The hot tub was great after the many walks in the surrounding gorgeous countryside! The cottage itself is of a high standard and is equipped with most things we needed. The cottage itself is clean, beautifully decorated and extremely well equipped. I'd packed odd bits I thought we might need, but everything had been provided, from tea towels to washing up liquid, it had everything, even fresh eggs on arrival! The hot tub and log burner were perfect and made it all the more special for us. The hosts were very kind, they checked everything was ok and were on hand if we needed anything. They were very animal friendly; one of our dogs is a nervous rescue and barks at anything, but the hosts were un-phased which helped make our stay all the more enjoyable. The dogs had free run of the patio area which was more than enough for them after full days of fresh air, walking and exploring, they were so tired! The location is stunning, so quiet and peaceful, lots of birds and wildlife, as well as the sheep, horses, chickens and dogs. We were well situated to visit the lakes but also found Kirkby Stephen just as scenic with some lovely walks, as well as Appleby which had the best butchers! I'd thoroughly recommend this cottage, especially for families or couples looking for a romantic getaway. We all loved being in the farm environment and feel well rested and inspired.

  • "The cottage was lovely, set in beautiful scenery."

It was clean and the kitchen was well equipped. Although the dishwasher was still full from the previous customers when we arrived. However, it does not clearly state that the hosts live next door, connected to the cottage. The host text me to ask us not to use the hot tub after 10pm! This was not stated in the advert, and to be honest, spoilt our holiday. We felt like we were walking on egg shells for the rest of the week and didn't even use the hot tub for the last couple of days. Furthermore, we were asked not to let our dog off the lead on site. We have a very well behaved collie who is an ex-working dog. He doesn't even bark! But their dogs roamed free and the big brown one chased my partner, barking at him, twice! So we didn't have anywhere close by to exercise our dog. This is not what I would consider to be 'dog friendly' for customers yet 4 dogs were jumping around us when we were trying to pack up our car to leave. The hot tub is not private as it faces the small caravan park. The advert makes it seem as though the cottage is very private! I would suggest they put slip mats on the floors of the wet room style bathrooms! And they might want to consider putting some carpet on the wooden stairs as my partner slipped on them hurting his back! We were supposed to have a washer drier, but on the first (Friday) night I found it was broken. They didn't come to look at it until Monday. They said they would order a new one on Tuesday. We heard nothing further. On Friday (the day we left) they had a new one delivered. Not at any time did the host offer to wash our towels or have the courtesy to give us extra, due to not providing the facility advertised. I would only reccomend that people who are older and do not intend to have any fun or need any privacy book this cottage. We felt as though we were not welcome and were more of a hindrance to the host. Very disappointing.

  • "By far the most beautifully modern cottage we have ever stayed in!"

Set on a lovely little farm where Amy and Richard could be easily found if needed. Extremely dog friendly and the hot tub didn’t fail to impress! We were disappointed when we had to check out as could have easily lived in the cottage! One word.. perfection. Thank you for making our stay so relaxing and enjoyable Amy x
