  • "Lovely stay, small thing a pair of scissors and a towel for the kitchen"

  • "A bit more info on the recycling bins - quite different to Wiltshire, apparently."

The oven was a mystery the first night but we got it sorted. Just not clear enough instructions in the manual. Head butting on the ceilings first couple of days. Otherwise, as the last time we stayed, excellent accomodation and comfort - a haven to return to at the end of a day with the grandchildren! Will certainly be on the list for future stays.

This was the second year we have stayed here and have already booked for Christmas 2024 it's such a perfect place to stay when visiting relatives in a nearby village. Cannot praise it highly enough!

  • "The Croft is a lovely place to stay to explore the West Pennine Moors."

The cottage is set amongst farmland but it isn't far to walk to get onto Anglezarke Moor and even onto Winter Hill and Rivington. We also walked along the Leeds Liverpool Canal which isn't very far away either. The cottage is very comfortable, furnished to a high standard and very modern. We cooked for ourselves on all but one of our evenings there and had everything we needed. Aldi is nearby for shopping and further into Chorley there are other supermarkets and shops. We ate at the Dressers Arms in Wheelton and had really nice food and the pub is very good - very busy. All in all, a great week and we would be happy to go there again. Thanks to the hosts for their hospitality.

Spotless, warm & comfortable, and the tea, coffee, milk & biscuits are also appreciated. The icing on the cake? discovering M&S Food Hall less than five miuntes by car away! Many thanks

Very peaceful and warm. Loved the kitchen space, furniture, shower and very comfortable bed and linen. Really spoilt with the location, close to Rivington and Anglezark for great walks. Visiting from Australia and will return!

It was in a fabulous location surrounded by beautiful scenery. The accommodation was very well equipped, had luxurious bedding, and the host had gone the extra mile to make me feel comfortable. I actually extended my stay as I felt so at home. The photographs do not do it justice. Thank you Debbie for making me feel welcome

  • "Lovely cottage and plenty of room for a couple, the weather was far to hot so we didn’t do as much walking as we would have liked."

The guests in the property next us had a dog that barked quite a lot and we had to endure a football being kicked about on the field most days whilst sitting outside. Visited Southport pier and Formby beach, found a lovely restaurant/pub and had a delicious gluten free meal would definitely recommend, they are part of a group called Brunning and Price.

Some nice touches by the owner leaving some milk, biscuits and wine. The flat is kept in some lovely grounds away from the mean road, giving us the peace and quiet we needed for our week away. Having said that it is also close enough to a main town to get amenities. All in all a great find.

About the location

CHORLEY

Preston 9.9 miles; Southport 20.2 miles.

Chorley is a town in Lancashire, England, nestled close to Black Brook. Evidence has been discovered that human settlement has existed since the Bronze Age, though unconfirmed until the Middle Ages. Home of the Chorley cake, this thriving town offers a large number of independent shops and supermarkets for picking up those last-minute essentials, as well as some traditional pubs and restaurants for that fine dining experience. Further afield is the seaside town of Southport, residing in Merseyside, but was historically part of Lancashire when it was founded in 1792. Southport provides an exceptional amount of attractions that are well-worth a visit, including Southport Pleasureland, an amusement park with thrilling rides, a go-kart track and an indoor play area, perfect if you're travelling with your little ones. Also popular is Southport beach for those summer months, Southport Pier, the nearby Royal Birkdale Golf club and the main shopping centre on Lord Street.
