  • "We loved the ‘Scandi modern’ calm relaxing feel of the cottage; including the excellent music system which allowed us to add our favourites to the peaceful atmosphere."

Easy access to the town for shops and restaurants was appreciated. For the walkers the opportunity to ‘do’ the Nine Standards walk to the top and back in a morning was great. A delicious meal in The Pennine Hotel was a perfect end to the day. We all thoroughly enjoyed our all too brief stay in Fig Cottage.

  • "Fig Cottage is a lovely modern property."

The open plan downstairs was perfect for a get together. Our family had fun playing foosball. It was great to be able to walk out into the countryside straight from the cottage or to walk into the high street for refreshments.

  • "The cottage was fantastic."

It was immaculately clean and had a lot of amenities that were not listed on the site but made our stay even more comfortable, such as: tea towels, tea, coffee, oil, salt and pepper, cling film, board games, cocktail, wine and champagne glasses and more. The only thing missing was matches/a lighter for the log burner. Online the listing said everything needed for the log fire would be provided, so we may have missed the matches somewhere but after looking in all of the logical places we gave up and went to the shop. The local Spar convenience store was a 5 minute walk away so this wasn’t too much of an inconvenience. There are also a couple of nice pubs and an artisan bakery in town ( <5min walk). We had a really lovely stay at the cottage, it was nice and warm for our arrival, the beds were really comfy and bed linen felt luxury. USB chargers were a nice touch around the house too. You would struggle to park more than 2 cars outside if needed.

  • "Loved our stay at Fig Cottage, located in the beautiful market town of Kirby Stephen and very close to main facilities."

Cottage was superbly decorated with everything you need including lovely extras including the sauna and a football table. Lots of lovely walks directly from the cottage with many more further afield. Visited the Hawes and Sedbergh which were a short picturesque drive away. Friendly locals and great hospitality at the local watering holes, the nearby church; classed as the Cathedral of Eden Valley, is well worth a visit. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

  • "A good stay all round."

Upon arrival we noticed that two of the four rads in the living/kitchen area leak when the heating cools down. So, a constant mop up job due water on shines tiles, bit of a slip hazard especially when you have a 3 year old. After 2 days of being in the cottage we noticed that the patio door was left not only unlocked but slightly open. For me, this a bit no no not only for the fact of the property integrity when unoccupied but for our belonging when we are out for the day. I did mention this to the owner. All I all, a great stay just with a couple of issues which can happen anywhere. We would stay again for sure.

  • "Fig cottage was absolutely beautiful, lovely open plan living downstairs , tried to put the fire on but not the easiest without firefighters so didn’t bother , heating is much warmer upstairs than down ended up turning heaters off upstairs ."

All you could need was provided in the kitchen , utensils, pans , glasses etc . The bedrooms were lovely mattresses very comfortable , towels could do with being a bit bigger not quite big enough to wrap around you . Space for 3 cars unless the neigbours are using the spaces , had one park right outside the door to the point you couldn’t get in and had to ask them to move!! Overall we would definitely comeback, so close to all the local amenities and all within walking distance, all you need for a lovely get away !!

Super clean. Less than a min walk to the high Street (alley way opposite the house) Beds super comfy. Only down side is the couch is nowhere near big enough for 6 people! The oven was a little hit & miss too! Other than that it was great.

  • "Lovely modern cottage in a great location, very short walk to the village and a great base for walks in the area."

All agreed beds were very comfortable. Kitchen facilities provided were good. Bluetooth speaker system brilliant! The Kings Arm pub serves nice food as well as the local Chinese takeaway. Shops are few mins walk including a decent size Co-op, bakery and cafe. Few comments for owners consideration: Lounge facilities not ideal for 6 adults to relax comfortably (sofa seats 3-4) so would suggest another smaller sofa would be a great addition instead of the chair and beanbag for added comfort. Another shower facility would be great but perhaps lack of space to fit that in? Sauna only seats 2 but not clear on the site when booking so we had to take turns to use it! Overall, would recommend this lovely property in a great location perhaps better suited to a family or smaller group of adults.

  • "Very nice, recently modernised cottage in Kirkby Stephen."

Two minutes from high street with shops and pubs although due to COVID, a couple were closed, and the food offerings variable. Couple of good supermarkets, and reasonably priced petrol stations. Fig Cottage well equipped, very clean, and a comfortable base for walking the local hills, and seeing the area further afield. There were only two of us, but it was fully equipped for at least six people. The sauna was a bonus! Parking outside the cottage could be a problem at busy times as a starting point for some of the local walks. Overall would recommend, and would stay again if ever back in the area.

  • "We loved staying at Fig Cottage and it had everything needed for a very comfortable stay."

Its well furnished and equipped with good quality fittings and a very peaceful place. Woodburner, sauna and front patio furniture were great features that we much enjoyed, along with one of the jigsaws! Perfect for our family with our 2 teen/pre-teen boys, very comfortable and more spacious than it appeared on the photos. Fantastic location with very close access to all the great shops, pubs etc locally in the lovely town and Kirkby Stephen is a great base from which to explore the stunning countryside around. Also the owners were extremely helpful and responsive when we encountered a small issue with one of the appliances, immediately supplying a spare and arranging for it to be dealt with by a professional with minimal inconvenience. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The cottage is beautiful and so well kitted out. We loved the sauna and sitting in the evening sun on the front patio. The setting is perfect (two mins from the river beach) and we spent several happy evenings by Frank's Bridge skimming stones while the kids went paddling. We loved the river walk and the walk along the river to the viaducts. The kids enjoyed shopping for presents in Kirkby Stephen and we also visited the Beatrix Potter Museum in Windermere. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Enter into the immaculate open-plan living space where the impressive kitchen area welcomes you in; here you can prepare all your family-favourite meals when you're not making the most of the fabulous eateries in town, the kitchen offering all the essential appliances as well as the luxuries of a wine chiller, washing machine and dishwasher!

Sit together around the wooden table at the centre of the room, the warmth of the woodburning stove creating a homely aura, or take your mealtimes outside and dine alfresco in the private, enclosed patio area at the rear.

Spend your evenings snuggled into the corner sofa in front of the Smart TV, the old vault in the floor below bringing a characterful charm to the property, reminding you of its past, before venturing upstairs to find even more wonder.

Choose from three beautifully-presented bedrooms to rest your head, with a super-king-size, double and a twin offering a flexible sleeping arrangement for a variety of group needs, all served by a beautiful shower room with a spacious walk-in shower, as well as additional cloakroom.

The first floor also hosts your very own sauna, making the perfect spot to unwind after a day of rambling amongst the National Parks.

If you can tear yourself away from this spectacular property, take a stroll out the front door to find riverside walks at the end of the road, where “Frank’s Bridge” crosses the River Eden making the perfect picnic spot, while a ginnel adjacent takes you into the centre of town where you will find a good selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs catering to every taste.
