  • "Our stay was everything we expected."

Quiet and relaxing with beautiful views, but also handy for fine pub food, and breakfast at nearby Country Harvest. A comfortable cottage with everything you need for a good break.

  • "Great property."

Very comfortable with gorgeous views. It was lovely sitting on the balcony overlooking sheep fields and Ingleborough, and the little garden was a good sun-trap. Very peaceful location but the nearest pub was only a 10 minute walk (The Marton Arms) which you can get to on a lovely country lane, or straight into town (the road oppersite the Country Harvest) will definitely be returning to this lovely property. I can imagine its beautiful in all seasons.

The facilities of the cottage were very good.Cleanliness was also very good. Our only concerns were that the balcony door was difficult to lock when the temperature outside was high, ok when the temperature dropped and the toilet seat was loose.

  • "An absolute gem."

Everything you could, or would, expect readily to hand, but what made this property stand out was those little touches that were not expected. One expects a few tea bags and, maybe, coffee, milk, but not biscuits, jam, marmalade, kitchen rolls, rechargeable night lights, boxes of tissues in every room....it was just like being at home, and that's probably the best comment anyone could ever make!

Very quiet. Lovely views over the countryside with the added extra of sheep and cows in the field. The host was lovely very helpful when we needed her. The cottage it's self could do with some updating carpets seem very old and a bigger smart TV would have been great for our evenings in. The bed was very comfy and the shower/ bathroom modern and easy to use. Welcome basket and shower gels/ shampoos were an extra bonus.

Light and airy with wonderful views towards Ingleborough. Ideally placed for exploring the western side of the Dales and not far from the Lakes. We particularly enjoyed our visit to Kirkby Lonsdale, Dentdale, Parcevall Gardens, Arnside and Blackwell House by Windermere (a superb example of Arts and Crafts design).

  • "We were amazed to find that the cottage was in such a wonderful location- right beneath the Ingleton Mountain."

We stayed home most evenings because the all-round views were too good to miss. As an artist I was able to take home some sketches without having to search for a subject. A glass of wine on the balcony and a wonderful sunset were the perfect ending to enjoyable visits to local scenic attractions: The Waterfall walk - 7 miles- very enjoyable, Walk through tree-lined paths, up and over the lime-stone steps parallel to the river. We didn't make the whole way, being over eighty, but still enjoyable. The river at makes for an ideal contrast- a relaxing day with easy walking along the river banks or sitting on the benches provided. It makes an ideal picnic space with the added bonus of an ice cream van and much entertainment watching the school children diving and thrashing about in the water. The town itself is small and has interesting shops and choices of cafe/bars/restaurants. Ingleton itself has a wonderful food and gift shop with award winning butchers, sandwiches, freshly-made ready foods, pies, cakes and fruit. I really didn't feel the need to cook- in spite of the excellent cooking facilities at the cottage.

Really large bedroom with plenty of draw and hanging space. Kitchen very well equipped and I was able to find all the dishes and utensils I required. The location is excellent as there is lots to do in the area. There is also a deli type shop within walking distance with a small cafe so vegetable and meat etc can be purchased here or alternatively Booths supermarket in Kirby Longsdale has an excellent choice. Restaurant information was provided by the owner and we tried Avanti out and had a good meal. If all Sykes Cottages are of a similar standard, as reflected in the price I presume then we will hopefully use you again.

My only little quibble is the bathroom which in my opinion lets the cottage down. The bath is too small for hot soaks after long walks and the shower is poor and would only run very hot or cold! The first problem probably can't be rectified in the space available but the second could.
