"This was a really lovely cosy cottage with everything you could need for your stay."
It is in a perfect location for getting around the Dales. We were very happy with everything. And it was great to be able to switch off from the outside World quite literally, as Buckden is a complete dead zone as soon as you hit it - no phone calls, texts or 4G! But the cottage supplied a landline and WiFi. Also take a torch, as when going to the lovely Buck Inn at night for tea it's pitch black! The pub meals were fantastic with lots of choice, the local shop has the basics, and download a PDF map before you go if you decide to walk to the Pike or do the circular walk! We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and thought the community bonfire with no fireworks was a lovely touch on the 5th!

"Amazing scenery, lovely cottage and very comfy beds"

"It is a great property just near The Dales Way clean roomy not for tall people lol need to bob down if you are going through the doors, but I loved it, stayed here 3 times, and will return."
Central heating was on which was great as it was cold for April, Pub is close by for meals. Great walking area love the area the best that the Yorkshire Dales has to offer
Thanks for the great review! Delighted you enjoyed the cottage and we look forward to welcoming you back! Property Owner

"Dale view is in a beautiful Location, perfect for easy access to many Yorkshire walks, some even from the door step."
It is a lovely old cottage with low ceilings in places, so tall people need to mind their head. The cottage does have plenty of space though, the living room being larger than expected and the two bedrooms are good size. The kitchen was well equipped, with washing machine, dish washer and fine for eating in around the kitchen table. The cottage was warm and cosy, with a log burner as well if you want it for the atmosphere. Also now has a brand new TV ! The WIFI was mostly good and supported three people using it, so was ideal for "Working from Home" Outside, there is a small front garden with amazing views of the countryside - perfect for that evening drink. There is also parking for one car at the back. The local Pub is two minutes walk and served lovely food and drink, with a Yorkshire smile. Plenty of cleaning products provided to make the clean at the end easy to do. Highly recommended and looking forward to a return visit.
Thanks for the amazing feedback! We are delighted you enjoyed your stay at Dale View, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Property Owner

"Warm, spacious and comfy cottage which exceeded our expectations."
We loved the landscape of the valley, and the friendly village. There are plenty of great walks from the door of the cottage. The pub is only a minute's walk away and serves good food and excellent beer. At 5 foot 7 I think I'm the max height for not having to duck through the kitchen doorway, but my taller husband got through the week without injuring himself! We're seriously considering rebooking for next year. We had a great time here.

"Dale View was a really lovely warm and cosy cottage."
It had great facilities, with well stocked kitchen cupboards with utensils and everything you could need. Also Dale View was in a beautiful location, perfectly described, with a village shop and local pub within less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage. Loved our stay at Dale View and would highly recommend.

"We had a great stay at Dale View."
The cottage is really well located with great views. The heating is very good and responsive, the shower amazing (if a little difficult to get into), the wifi good enough and the cooking facilities really good. We cooked in every night. This is a very old cottage so there are some low doorways and a unique stone stairway that is slightly awkward first time. However, the amount of space in the kitchen and lounge is so much more than we expected. It is in a great location for walking - we walked directly from the cottage four days and the local bus service was also really good. There is a village shop, just about, which was fine for basics but we were glad we had the foresight to bring lots of food. The next nearest substantial shop is about 10 miles away. The only other semi negative is that parking is not easy. The provided parking place was certainly there - but not very easy to get into or out of (but our car is fairly large). Old cottages are often damp and cold - Dale View was neither. We had a really wonderful stay. Highly recommended. Thank you.

"Cottage was as described with everything we needed."
Cold (due to the nature of the stone building) but easily warmed through with the heating. Plenty of hot water and a good shower. Low beams (as stated) so maybe not the best for super tall people but fine for me! Location fantastic - walks in every direction with no need to use the car. The closeness of the pub is not an issue at all - we never heard a thing. The whole village is very quiet and peaceful and wonderfully dark at night. Would happily recommend.
-
"A beautiful cottage and lovely to be able to sit out in the garden at the end of a days walking and gaze across the valley."
Loved the stone spiral staircase....don't see many of those! Would love to know how old the cottage really is?
Thanks for the amazing feedback and delighted you enjoyed your stay at Dale View! To answer your question, the cottage is just shy of 200 years old and yes, that is the original sandstone staircase! Property Owner

"Nice cottage in a lovely spot, lives up to its name with the view."
Low ceilings which is to be expected so care needed. Bathrooms getting a bit grimy especially the floor Could have been cleaned better, there were several cobwebs in the beams with resident spiders and dead flies on most of the window sills. Skirting boards not wiped. Overall a nice cottage but room for improvement.

"We had a great week in Dale view, and the good weather was a bonus."
We loved the walking from the cottage as well as nearby villages. The cottage was comfortable and the outdoor furniture in the front garden was a bonus. As we are from Australia, a barbecue in the back garden, would have put icing on the cake, as the evenings were perfect

"We had a glorious week at Dale View."
The cottage was warm, spacious with plenty of hot water and a very well equipped kitchen. We would highly recommend the position, the views and the abundance of walks. The wild flowers are amazing too!
Thank you for the fabulous feedback - we are delighted you enjoyed your stay in this beautiful part of the world! Property Owner

"We found Dale View cottage to be warm and comfortable with a spacious lounge, well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds."
There are some low beams and creaky floorboards which are to be expected in a property like this, take your hard hat if you’re 6 foot tall like me! The toilet seat needs fixing. Other than that we highly recommend!
-
"Lovely position view wonderful views from the front lounge."
Very warm as owners had ensured the heating was running throughout our stay. Never slept so well. Appreciated all the cleaning products to hand. The Buck was a mere walk away and served delicious meals. Perfection for me would have been a small comfy chair by the window in the lounge downstairs as it would have made reading easier in natural daylight. Other than that we would definitely stay here again.

"Cottage is in a great location for walking in the Yorkshire Dales, and has everything you need."
The kitchen is large and perfect for cooking and preparing meals. Would recommend.
-
"This is a lovely cottage in a great location and a great base to explore Upper Wharfdale."
Access to 2 paths leading to the sumit of Buckden Pike are literally on the doorstep. Just one small thing, if you are going to use the woodburner make sure you bring a supply of kindling and logs. The owner generously provides firelighters and a bucket of logs, but if the weather is cold you will need more.
-
"We absolutely loved this cottage especially all the original features which included stonework, sandstone stairs and beams."
We found this cottage to be lovely and warm and welcoming. I cooked each night and found everything I needed and all was immaculately clean. The bed was one of the most comfy I've slept in. We did the 3 peaks and walks from the doorstep including the Pike behind the house and saw Red Kites! We had problems with the WiFi the 1st night so the TV kept cutting out but all was back to normal the next day! The housekeeping bond you have to pay was refunded immediately so thank you for that. I can't recommend this cottage enough and we will be returning in the near future .
Thank you so much for the amazing feedback. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future! Property Owner

"We had a lovely stay at Dale View cottage in Buckden!"
Warm and comfortable with a delightfully comfortable bed! Plenty of room with views of the beautiful hills. Lovely private back garden. The local pub, The Buck Inn is great and really friendly! With many walks from the doorstep, it’s the perfect place to stay!

"Dale View is a lovely cosy warm cottage surrounded by beautiful countryside and it is a great base for walking and exploring."
-
"Great location, wonderful views."
Clean, very comfortable and well equipped. However, the listing does not make it clear that there are some low beams in the cottage. The stone spiral staircase could be difficult for someone with mobility issues.
-
"Throughly enjoyed our stay, very comfortable well equipped character cottage in beautiful surroundings, with a great view from the front room and bedroom, would highly recommend."
-
"Excellent accommodation in a perfect location."
Five Stars!
-
"Nice cottage except for the concrete/stone stairs."
Could do with a carpet on it. Couldn't hoover when we left as no hoover. Front door requires an inside curtain to stop draughts. Otherwise very good. WiFi good.
Thank you for your comments. There has always been a working hoover in the property, in the cupboard under the stairs (original sandstone, dating from 1830). Property Owner

"Dale View was the most well equipped, warm and cosy cottage we have ever stayed in."
The area is perfect for walkers with numerous footpaths on the doorstep. Even better for us was the little shop and The Buck Inn right next door. Great food with a warm welcome.
-
"Dale View cottage is delightful, with lovely gardens front (with an incredible view) and back."
The accommodation is spacious, and the kitchen is the best equipped of any cottage we've stayed in to date. The bird life around the cottage is extraordinary, and we were amused daily by the flocks of sparrows and chaffinches in the bushes and on the path, plus the swallows and goldfinches generally swooping about. We enjoyed stepping out the front door to a wide range of hill and valley walks (so no need to drive - hooray!). Recommend it highly.
-
"Dale view is a character cottage in the heart of the village of Buckden."
The front garden has a beautiful view of the hills across the valley and the enclosed back garden gave us privacy and some shade as we visited during a heatwave. Several wonderful walks and cycle routes are signposted from the public car park in the village, and a pleasant stream to paddle in can be found a little up from Dale View. We walked up Buckden Pike and around the valley and back along the river. The stone cottage stayed lovely and cool, I am sure it would be cosy in winter too, and there was heaps of piping hot water (be careful!) We found it to be very well equipped and it was good to have our own parking space. The cottage felt a good size for four of us with a generous sized lounge, it has some low thresholds where you have to 'mind your head', stone staircase and use of a full landline telephone and good WiFi. There is a small village shop, a pub serving food and we had top class takeaway pizzas from Cecilia's Pizzeria in Starbotton. Using the 'What Three Words' address will help you locate the cottage as the location given on the Sykes link is not accurate, although we were also given verbal directions.
-
"Fabulous well equipped cottage, fantastic location in the centre of the village, it was so easy to get around the dales and into Skipton."
Pub/village store within a few minutes walk. Perfect front garden for taking in the views and beauty of the dales; we would definitely return.
-

Village shop absolutely wonderful and shop owner extremely helpful. Will definitely return.

"We enjoyed our stay at the delightful Dale View so much we extended our holiday by a week!"
The house is fantastic, very spacious with a fully equipped kitchen containing everything you need. The living room is extremely comfortable with smart tv, great wifi and free calls to UK landlines. Bedrooms very comfortable and clean and plenty of space for all belongings. Location is just out of this world, with the most sublime views from the house. Great hiking in the area. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend and will definitely be booking again in the future.

"We found the process of booking our holiday cottage straight forward."
We appreciated the communication we received from Sykes leading up to when we were due to go. The cottage, Dale Veiw in Buckden exceeded our expectations. We had a relaxing and enjoyable stay in this welcoming comfortable characterful cottage which has been maintained to a high standard.
-
"The house is tasteful and has a great view."
Good shower, fantastic WiFi. Good kitchen, well equipped. Some kitchen cupboards sticky on inside with spillages. Great oven. Nonstick layer of pots is worn. No spare lightbulbs unfortunately. Cosy bedrooms. Enjoyed the location and view, and the garden.
