A real wow experience from the moment I pulled up to the property and saw the view.

I was able to lie in bed with the curtains open and watch the sunrise over the Solway Firth. The village is idyllic, next to the beach and very close to Annan where there are supermarkets, cinemas etc The property is lovely, very comfortable, clean and well equipped and the welcome pack and flowers much appreciated

We booked through Booking.

com not Sykes but then were contacted via Sykes to change venue. There was also a slight increase in price, even though Sykes made the change,hence the slightly lower rating. However our host Carol's place was amazing. The property is moments from the beach, cozy and welcoming. Everything you ould need and more besides! Carol left us a lovely little basket of goodies and even some milk,tea coffee etc. Saved us a dash to the shops on arrival! Unfortunately the weather was awful but we still did a few short dog walks along to the cafe at the campsite up the road. The only downside was the gas works going on outside the property front and back so could be a tad noisy/busy. However we would definitely recommend Shoreside and will come back , hopefully with better weather!

The house is a home that you can relax in .

All needs are meet ,including furry four paws who gave it a 5/5 Hopefully be back early next year to see what the area is like in the winter . Owner very helpful if you have any problems .

Lovely place to stay, fully equipped for a great stay.

Great sleep, quiet spot with light traffic going past. Views over the estuary fabulous and easy access to shore line. Parking at rear with EV charger was a bonus for us and most evenings spent sitting outside enjoying the view.

Just back from Shoreside Cottage.

Had a lovely 5 day stay in a beautiful cottage. The cottage was so clean,comfortable and a great home from home feeling. Magnificent views across Solway Bay where beautiful sunrises can be seen A fantastic beach for sea glass hunting,our daughter loved it

We enjoyed our stay immensely.

The cottage is very clean and cosy. Beds are comfortable as are the sofas in the lounge. Everything you need is provided. Lovely hamper of gifts were fabulous, thank you

We enjoyed our stay very much.

The owner met us on the first day and went through everything with us. The location is amazing, and Shoreside provided us with all that we needed for a hassle free stay. The neighbours were friendly and we met and chatted with a few of them. We enjoyed a constantly changing view across the Solway Firth, the the Sun rises were breathtaking.

A beautiful quiet village stuck in time. Friendly people. Some attention needed to broken or aged fixtures and fittings inside the property. Blackout blinds or curtains required in the bedrooms. Thankfully the building work next door only disturbed us on two of the days. A spacious well equipt warm property with many homely touches. A generous welcome pack. Mixed weather. Windy. Would recommend a stay here.

Plenty to do in the area , Annan only 10 minutes away. Hope to return at some point.

We had a lovely welcome from the owner and she left some flowers and some goodies which were very much appreciated by us after a long drive. We had everything we needed and it was a fantastic holiday.

Fantastic property in an ideal location.

We had a private parking space at the rear of the property and a small private garden, separated from the house by an access lane to the rear of the adjoining properties. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, as well as some welcome biscuits, tea, coffee, milk, dishwasher tabs etc. The lounge has the best view out to the estuary and Cumbria in the distance, a smart TV and a log burner which had been prepared so lighting it was easy, there was also a supply of wood in the garage. The bathroom had a jacuzzi bath and a separate corner shower, and the front double bedroom had an even better view over the estuary - we didn't need to use the rear twin bedroom. The property was nice and warm, and we were also provided with instructions of how to boost the heating if required. Annan is only a 10-15 min drive away, for Aldi and takeaway food, and Powfoot Hotel, which serves amazing food is only about a 5 min walk away. Fantastic place to stay, I'd love to return to Shoreside soon.

Everything we needed was provided. Lovely welcome pack and nice that we got to meet the owner. Powfoot is a gem, we wanted peace and quiet and we got it. Hope to return soon.

Warm and comfortable with fantastic Solway Firth/Lake District views.

Location is great as very peaceful but only few minutes (by car) from A75 and Annan. Nice walks straight from the door. The generous welcome pack was appreciated. The tv in the lounge is a good size (seems bigger than in the pictures).

We had a lovely stay at Shoreside, a very cosy & comfortable cottage with everything we needed.

Having the beach across the road is a huge bonus & the view across the estuary is stunning, you could never get tired of looking out there. Powfoot is a cute little village as well, we'll be back!

What can I say about this lovely house - I could have stayed here forever!

We loved watching the sunrises and the changing weather over the firth and taking a morning walk along the beach, just a stunning location. The house is so warm and cosy with a lovely wood burner, perfect for a winter holiday. It is very well equipped, we never struggled for pots, pans, utensils etc - a kitchen I enjoyed cooking in! Annan is ten minutes drive and has everything you need for picking up supplies, a good Tesco, butchers, bakeries, we found it to be a very friendly little town. We loved the small family run cinema, Cafe Royal for great fish & chips, and The Bluebell pub, traditional bar (no food) but a great spot if you enjoy a quiet pint and a chat with the locals. This was our first visit to Dumfries & Galloway and it won't be our last. 10/10!

Superb cottage , excellent in every way .

Our stay at this beautiful terraced cottage was greatly enhanced by delightful weather which also yielded breathtaking views across the Solway (especially during the new moon period).

A quiet retreat, with the only intrusive sounds coming from the wading birds at dusk. The property had everything we needed, it is warm and comfortable, lots of local information and with places to sit in the sun for morning coffee and afternoon tea. Thank you.

The cottage was furnished really tastefully, it was spotless and the beds were really comfy- also the welcome pack was lovely.

Powfoot and Shoreside was an excellent destination.

Although both myself and my partner weren't totally well for the duration of our stay, this did not detract from our enjoyment of the location, which was beautiful and the comfort of Shoreside, with its magnificent views overlooking the Solway Firth. The property was extremely spacious and immaculately tidy, with great decor. We used the Powfoot Hotel, on 3-nights, for our evening meals when we didn't feel like cooking ourselves. The food at 'Del Amitris' (at the Powfoot Hotel) was exceptional and very reasonably priced. Powfoot is a quiet, peaceful and well maintained village, which is exactly what we want from a holiday. However, the Town of Annan is only 3-miles away and Dumfries 15-miles away. Annan even has its own little cinema, which is delightful and a very good Italian Restaurant. Finally, there are a number of places, within reasonable driving distance, where you can explore the beautiful scenery of the area, although there are also plenty of walks just on Powfoot's doorstep. We walked, on the beach from Powfoot to Newbie and then onto Annan and caught a bus back to Powfoot Road End (half a mile walk back to the village itself). We will certainly be returning to Shoreside.

very comfortable mid terrace property, well furnished with comfortable sofas in the lounge.

tea/coffee/milk all provided. easy to park in the private space behind the property. spectacular views of the solway firth. enclosed private garden at the rear and enclosed from garden with the fantastic view. nice location in a small hamlet with easy access to annan/ dumfries/ gretna and beyond. we also went to glasgow and ayr which each took about 2 hours. highly recommend.

The holiday property was overlooking the Solway Firth(a beautiful view).

Sat out most morning with my coffee. Lovely house comfortable living room, massive kitchen. A thoughtful welcome gift for when we arrived. There was parking for one car at the back of the house leading to a compact garden and parking for a car at the front. This house is on an east west orientation ensuring sunshine on nice days .

A very nice holiday property with everything catered for.

Cottage is in a lovely location, having chairs in the front and rear gardens allowed us to enjoy the beautiful views.

The cottage is decorated lovely and was so clean and tidy. Kitchen well equipped. Welcome pack was lovely especially after a long drive and then being able to make a drink. My only suggestion would be for the front bedroom, as we are both light sleepers the sun comes through the front very early and so makes the room very bright, a black out blind may be useful in there? We would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends as so relaxing

Loved Shoreside, warm, welcoming, lovely big kitchen/dinner and views from the sitting room and front garden. We didn’t do very much, apart from relaxing and reading, Shoreside is the perfect location for that. Will look forward to going back.

I had a lovely 3 day stay at Shoreside with my 2 dogs and I was blessed with fabulous weather.

Brilliant holiday at shoreside.

The location and views were amazing. Very clean cottage and best log burner we’ve ever had in a cottage, clearly very well looked after. The cottage was a bit tired in places, and we did have an issue with the hot water at times, but did manage to work it out our selves in the end. But a great stay otherwise and didn’t want to leave.

This property is extremely well equipped, Carol has thought of everything and ensured it is there, super welcome pack of local goodies and flowers are a homely touch.

Information and recommendations for what to see, do and eat in the area is great, though there is nothing better than sitting in the lounge and taking in the stunning views....... Very comfy accommodation, lovely owner, highly recommend! We had a tip top stay - thank you!

A lovely mid terrace accommodation set in a little village with very comfortable fixtures and fittings.

The accommodation had a homely feel to lt which relaxed us and especially helped the dog to settle.The substantial starter pack was very welcome. We would love to return.

Shoreside was very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed for a relaxing holiday.

The weather was very warm, (too hot for our 2 dogs) so we spent more time at the property than we would normally, but it's position meant that there was plenty of activity on the shore front to keep us entertained. The village of Powfoot was very well kept (manicured) with some lovely short walks

Shoreside is a perfect place for a tranquil stay, with great views over the Solway Firth.

On arrival we were met by Carol, the owner, and greeted with a tray of local goodies, There was fresh milk in the fridge and everything was immaculate. The house is very well furnished, comfortable and cosy. Everything was thought about and provided, The parking space just by the back door was a bonus too. Powfoot is a very quiet location, and Shoreside is aptly named, as it is literally on the side of the shore, with clear unobstructed views across the Firth. The villagers have provided a very well maintained 9 hole putting green, and lawn bowls too, Free to use. The cottage is well situated to explore the area, with the historic town of Annan only ten minutes away , with all the necessary shops and restaurants catering for all needs. We both slept very well in the comfortable bed, and Carol must be complimented on her bedding. Excellent. The WiFi worked seamlessly , and the TV had a great picture. We intend to return as there is much more to explore. I would highly recommend Shoreside to anyone who is looking for a comfortable accommodation, in a quiet location. Liam Coyle

Shoreside is a very clean and comfortable cottage.

The location is superb. Straight across the small and quiet road is the beach, which at low tide goes on for miles. It is not a swimming beach as the sea is so shallow but is sandy. There was hardly anyone on it during our stay. The village is quaint , well tended and has good walks from the doorstep. There are also plenty of places to visit within easy reach. Highly recommended.

Powfoot is an amazing location and an ideal base to visit the many towns and other sites in the vicinity. The beach is nearby and the views across the Firth are stunning.

It was a lovely property with a particularly great outlook and ideal for our short get-away-from-it-all break.

The owner was particularly helpful in turning around our enquiry to stay within the same day of request. The welcome basket was a particularly nice touch especially as we arrived late. Off street parking was appreciated and the garden seating provided overlooking the waterfront much appreciated. I think it is worth noting that the neighbours were welcoming too. I would certainly recommend to friends and family. We took our two little dogs and I felt that the owner made an effort to make them feel welcomed too without excessive rules. All too often 'dog friendly' properties can sound at best 'dogs tolerated' once you get to the property which is very off putting and happy to say this was not the case here.

Very cosy after January beach walks, really well equipped and in a wonderful location. We loved it!

A lovely cottage in a super location in Powfoot.

We received a warm welcome from Carol the owner and the addition of the welcome pack was much appreciated. The cottage had all we needed for a very comfortable stay, with a large well equipped kitchen, cosy sitting room with log burner, comfy beds and bathroom with separate shower and bath. Yet the icing on the cake was of course the views across the Solway Firth. Amazing sunrise and sunsets. Watching the moon reflected in the water and the starlit skys on dark nights was beautiful. We saw many species of birds and the walks along the seashore were always fascinating. What an interesting village Powfoot is too. All the locals we met were very friendly. A great base for the surrounding area. We hope to return to Shoreside.

This was our second visit to Shoreline everything was as very good as last time, can’t thing of anything the owners can improve on.

The house was brilliant and had everything you needed and the photographs didn't do it justice. The main bedroom was really spacious with a breathtaking view over the Solway Firth, The second bedroom had single beds and also very spacious with views over all the neighbouring gardens and houses. The toilet included a shower and a Jacuzzi, which isn't usual. The front room had a log burner with the beautiful view over the shore towards the Lake District. This was a really lovely house with an impressive sized kitchen/dining area which would comfortably accommodate a large family. Powfoot itself is a really lovely wee village that has a magnetic feel, and coupled with the superb house, makes you want to return again and again. Even though some of the shops and visitor attractions were closed due to the pandemic, this is a holiday that said 'Haste ye back'.

We were particularly pleased about being able to use the power in the garage for our hybrid car. I do hope the owner will feel able to advertise this feature, as electric cars become more popular, it would enhance the facilities provided in the cottage.

A perfect holiday!

This property was very comfortable and fitted with all the equipment you could want.

On arrival it was very nice to find flowers and a welcome pack from the owner. Whilst there we had a minor problem with an alarm, we called the owner carol and in less than hour she was there and sorted it out. what better service can you want than that. The enclosed rear garden was great for our 2 dogs, and a 3 mile long beach to run on. This property makes a great base for exploring the area and would also be ideal for anyone who enjoys playing golf with several courses within a short drive. When we visit this area again we would certainly book this property again, and would highly recommend it to anybody John & Pauline Dent

This property was a real home from home.

It is just so comfortable. The jacuzzi bath was just an added bonus. There was a welcome pack and flowers on our arrival. There are lovely gardens to the front and back of the property. We had breakfast on a small table at the front on a morning, and a glass of wine in the back on a night. The location is fantastic with stunning views across the Solway and over to the lake district. We never tired of watching the tide come in and go out. The villagers are friendly and welcoming. There is a small park next to the property where you can play mini golf and bowls for free. There is no shop in the village but you can go to the shop on the caravan site or go into Annan to the supermarket or the local town centre shops. Dumfries is approximately 20 miles away. There is a hotel which serves drinks and meals. Dogs are not allowed inside, but there is a seating area outside.

We needed a two day stay prior to moving on to Loch Lomond, what a find, photos do not do this property justice, this is a little gem!

Nice little touches everywhere to make your stay enjoyable. Rear garden great for our little dog, even though the beach is a stones throw away. Great communication during the booking. The owners mother met us on arrival, she was lovely and very informative. Would definitely recommend.

The main aim for our weeks stay was within 2 hours drive of Central Perthshire, close to beach, dog friendly accommodation and local environment.

From the moment of arrival till departure the break exceeded all our expectations. Carol was very friendly and the house was everything we required and more. All modern conveniences but retaining a period charm. A very nice welcome package to ensure a quick cup of tea and snack on arrival. More than enough shopping only a short car ride away in Annan as well as some excellent eateries. Best breaded haddock I have tasted in 50 years at Cafe Royal. Our daughter had slightly limited mobility so being so close to the beach was really appreciated. Nice sitting out areas to front and rear. So easy to walk the dogs on the beach at low tides and close enough to enjoy the dynamics of the high tides. Being so close to the beach meant that any showers could be easily avoided for dog walking and beach-combing. If for any reason dog walking on the beach was out there were plenty of other inland dog walk or the coastal path. Did not do much touring of local areas but Carol provided with lots of information on local sites, maybe next time. All the resident neighbours were extremely friendly with a gracious greeting or a smiling wave. Also very dog aware. Sykes information flow as regards information on our break was excellent. I would certainly return at some point and Sykes and Carol at Shoreside did not let us down in any department, so will check them first.

This was a very good cottage ;well equipped and cosy ,Carole the owner met us and was very helpful the welcome basket and flowers a lovely touch , as you know Powfoot is a dogs paradise what a bonus ,this is the second time we have been there and will be going back,so thank Carole for a really enjoyable holiday ,will recommend the cottage to my friends you came up trumps again x

The view was amazing.

The cottage was very comfortable. Great base for walking from the cottage and surrounding area. Nice welcome touches such as flowers and fudge. It's great being able to take the dog to such a lovely cottage.

We stayed for a week over Christmas and the house was everything we needed and more. Gorgeous log burner, lovely rooms furnished to a high standard. All extremely clean and comfortable. Location is superb being across from the beach with fabulous views. Amazing walks with our dog. Lovely meal at the hotel along from the house however the hotel is not dog friendly which is a real shame. Excellent welcome pack, thank you Carol. I would absolutely recommend this house to anyone.

Cottage was lovely warm comfy and welcoming the views from the front windows were exceptional never got tired of looking out the window the beach was great for walking the dogs loved it the area is lovely lots of places to visit can't wait to go back.

Shoreside cottage really feels like a home from home!

We have had several stays at Shoreside and have always found it to be very clean, tidy and well stocked with all you need. The owner is friendly and is available if required for problems( not that we have had any!). The house is lovely and warm even in the winter months so great for an any time of the year break. The location for us is a dream! The quite location with superb views and beach directly across the road is lovely, but with latge supermarkets 5 minutes drive away and endless places to visit so close it makes an ideal base. Cant wait for our next stay in a few months!

Wonderful location, an incedibly friendly welcome.

Cottage had everything we needed and more to enjoy our holiday. The location made travel for days out easy and local towns had everything we needed in regards to groceries and breakfast or a take-away in the evening. The information from the owner and previous guests was also a great bonus when looking at places to eat and days out. We had an amazing time.

Shoreside cottage in Powfoot was a perfect base for day trips along the Solway Coast, Hadrians Wall and the North Lakes.

It is a lovely cottage, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. We were welcomed by the owner Carol and had a welcome pack, essentials in the fridge (most unusual to have this so greatly appreciated) and lots of leaflets and information on the area. The cottage was extremely well presented with all the extras you would need. The gardens are safe and dog and child friendly. We would highly recommend staying at the cottage.

The location was just wonderful, as we came into Powfoot coming over the hill, seeing the estuary with the tide out just blew us away! Carol was lovely and the cottage was just wonderful
