  • "This is simply one of the best places we have ever stayed in."

The house is extremely spacious and blends old and new seamlessly (attention to detail is incredible). The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are 5 star. Perfectly situated for easy trips out and there is a great village shop which seems to have everything you could ever need across the road. Full marks to the owners, this place is a gem and we'll be back.

  • "The cottage is an absolute dream."

.. The attention to detail is fantastic. Kept to a traditional theme but with a modern twist. The photos on the website really don't do it justice. Absolutely Wonderful 12 day stay. 10/10

Approaching the traditional village house visitors are immediately captivated by the charm and character of the house with traditional features throughout reminding guests of the history of the property.

These include original wood flooring, feature fireplaces, sash windows, wooden beams and traditional stone walls, which all add up to create a really authentic and inviting ambience.

Step into the welcoming sitting room and you can imagine yourself curling up on the sofa here in front of the attractive woodburning stove and catching up with fellow guests and getting into the holiday spirit.

The gorgeous kitchen/diner is a really inviting space where cooking up a culinary feast for the holiday party is a pleasure and guests can choose from an informal meal in the kitchen, or if you want to make an occasion of it and host a dinner party, try out the dining room which is all set up ready for long, lazy meals.

You could open up the patio doors and enjoy some time alfresco, eating and drinking in the lush patio gardens, somewhere you can look forward to socialising and entertaining, should the weather allow.

Additional spaces in the house include an office/snug, which is perfect if you need to catch up on any work during your break (not too much though – you’re on holiday after all!) and a delightful basement games room, an ideal area for getting away from the hustle and bustle of the main house.

After a tiring day out and about exploring, you’ll be tired and with a fantastic choice of rooms, there will definitely be one to suit.

Take your pick from the top-floor king-size bedroom with en-suite, a king-size or twin on the first-floor and for the kids, a cool bunk bedroom.

All offer a stylish and relaxing sanctuary, just perfect for resting weary heads at the end of the day.

Waking up in the morning, and after a refreshing shower or soak in the bath (there’s plenty to choose from!), you’re already in the best location for discovering the delights of the local area.

About the location

BURTON-IN-LONSDALE

Ingleton 3 miles; Kirkby Lonsdale 5 miles.

The pretty village of Burton in Lonsdale is tucked into the hillside above the lovely River Greta. Its impressive 19th Century church spire is visible from miles around and evidence of Burton Castle can still be seen nearby. In the 18th and 19th Centuries, the village was renowned for its 13 potteries, which formed a vital part of local life. Two potteries, which welcome visitors, still continue the tradition in the nearby villages of Bentham and Ingleton. Burton in Lonsdale offers a shop with a post office counter. There are several 'undiscovered' quiet walks around the village and more popular walks such as the Three Peaks and Ingleton Waterfalls Walk within easy reach. Places of interest close by include Kirkby Lonsdale, Ingleton and Settle, while this is also an ideal base for exploring the Dales, the Lake District and the Forest of Bowland.
