  • "We had a lovely weekend, really was beautiful."

The view over the lake to tattershall castle and church was beautiful. Everything was so lovely and the table had been beautifully set. The whole place was lovely and clean and tidy. The large fridge freezer was very useful with 8 of us. The hot tub was lovely and warm with stunning views and the hot tub was maintained every day of our trip which was a very pleasant surprise. Would definitely go back for another stay.

  • "Our stay at Teal Lodge was far from the relaxing retreat we had hoped for."

The lodge was generally grubby and clearly in need of maintenance. Here are some key issues we faced during our stay: Cleanliness: The lodge was not clean. We found coffee granules in the cupboards, the window sills were grubby, dining table sticky and the vent above the shower clearly hadn’t been cleaned in months. Additionally, there was no mop or brush available to keep the floor clean. Kitchen Appliances: Both freezers were frozen solid, and one was so jammed that we couldn't even close the door properly. Furthermore, there was a lack of storage, forcing us to use the worktops to store food, which made it inconvenient and cluttered. Outdoor Furniture: There were no cushions provided for the outdoor furniture, making it uncomfortable to sit outside and enjoy the surroundings. Structural Issues: The bathroom window wouldn't lock, compromising our privacy and security. The latch for the second bedroom window was missing, preventing us from leaving it open without it being fully open, which was inconvenient and potentially unsafe. No shower in the ensuite despite it being in the property description and photo's We noticed a hole in the roof outside, which we believe is where an animal got in. We heard it running above the ceiling every night, which was disturbing. Despite these shortcomings, there were a few positives. The hot tub was great, and the lodge is situated in a quiet, secluded part of the park, which when the jet skis finish, was very tranquil with great sunsets. Overall, while the hot tub and location were highlights, the lack of cleanliness, maintenance issues, and structural problems made our stay disappointing.

Dear Graham We are very sorry to read your comments and really wish you had told us upon your arrival, as we could have easily fixed these things on day 1 of your holiday. You stayed for a week and didn't mention anything to us and we always give our mobile number out and you could also have called Sykes who are happy to help and contact us. We would have got the cleaning and maintenance manager out for you straight away to clean the window ledges, coffee granules and vent. I do apologise for this and have already given your feedback. The cushions are in the shed, we don't leave them out in case it rains and they get wet. The mops and brush are in there too. Regarding the lack of storage there are 5 kitchen cupboards for food etc plus 2 fridges and the area above the large fridge in the cupboard. We have never been asked about locks for the windows but I can certainly look into this if you feel it compromised your security. The site security is very good on the entrance and vans drive round through the night. I have never heard of any issues to worry about. Regarding the animal in the roof we were not aware of this, again if you had told us we would have got someone out straight away to investigate and fix the roof. There lots of squirrels in the trees so we will get this fixed straight away. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the hot tub and the location but we wish we had the opportunity to fix these small matters on day 1 for you. If you do wish to return please give me a call and we can talk through these things. We always do our best to ensure our guests have a perfect break at Teal Lodge. Kind Regards Zoe Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely stay, the lodge was as described and was clean and tidy on our arrival."

John kept in touch with us and updated us when the lodge was ready. He was always on the other end of the phone if we had a question and he sorted out the hot tub when we arrived as there was a slight issue with the temperature but it was solved quickly and efficiently so we could get in that night. I would recommend this lodge to anyone. The outdoor decking area gets lots of leaves and debris from the trees on it but that can't be helped too much as you're on the lakeside surrounded by trees - just keep the lid on the hot tub too to ensure it's kept as clean as possible.

  • "We have recently been on holiday to Tattershall Lakes, a resort we always enjoy going back to as it offers everything we want from a short family break away."

However the holiday accommodation was a complete let down and most definitely not what was advertised and described as. The cleanliness was a disgrace and actually quite disgusting upon further inspection. We had a problem with the shower drainage in the main bathroom and on one morning had a flood. When we checked the shower trap, to our horror found thick amounts of hair and sludge blocking the pipe. We had no choice but to clean this ourselves and as you can imagine I was not impressed!! That was issue 1, next was the stains on the bed sheets and the foisty smell!! Why on earth wasn’t this sort of thing checked and replaced before the next set of guests arrived??! How hard is it to offer guests freshly washed sheets that smell and look clean?! Issue 3. Filth and dirt in and around the radiators. Looks as though this has built up over months and hasn’t been checked, cleaned and maintained Issue 4. The windows were filthy and obviously hadn’t been cleaned for some time! Issue 5. The BBQ was full of ash and the grill was caked in grease and previously burnt on food! Unfortunately I don’t have pictures of this as i was starting to lose the will to live. It states in the description that if the BBQ is used then it must be cleaned so it’s ready for the next guests. Clearly not done or even checked before we arrived??! Issue 6. The hot tub was dirty and there was debris in the bottom when I lifted the lid? Clearly not drained and cleaned before we arrived. The overall cleanliness around the hot tub was disgusting. The wooden gazebo over the hot tub was plastered with cobwebs and dirt, occasionally some of this would drop into the hot tub when we were using it!! Issue 7. Cobwebs throughout the lodge! Everywhere you turned there would be a cobweb hanging in the corner of the room and above a door way. This was noticeable on first arrival and we were told by the owner that the cleaners had been in just before we arrived? Issue 8. Grime and dirt in the en-suite bedroom. Issue 9. Just general un tidy, un kept property in the garden area which was an eyesore!! Issue 10. Leaking shower seal in en-suite shower. The seal along the bottom of the shower partition was leaking and as a result water would run down onto the bathroom floor. This issue was reported on the Sykes review back in December 2022 but has not been fixed!

Dear Louise I am very sorry to read your review as I feel that we actioned any issues immediately as soon as you made us aware. I have raised your concerns with the cleaning company and they confirmed that the bedding had been changed and is professionally laundered at high temperature so there should be no issues. If you had made us aware we would have asked for it to be changed straight away no problem. The blockage in the pipe work was unforeseen and we would have asked the cleaning company or a plumber to come back and clean it had we known. The hot tub water is replaced fresh for every guest and is managed by the company on site. The hot tub man came out within an hour of your call and said that the dirt was from the kids feet running in and out which is fine, we expect kids to do this . You said it wasn't necessary to change the water but we insisted and it was changed for you first thing in the morning and replaced with warm water ready for your use in the morning. The lodge and decking is jet washed weekly but at this time of year there is lots of debris from the trees in the park and around the lodge. It is an ongoing battle with the cob webs but I assure you they are cleaned every week before every guest. The seal along the glass door will leak water if the glass door is not in place properly this is not a fault with the seal but the glass door should be inside the bath not outside the bath or the water will run down. The gardens are part of the country park and are kept by the gardeners. The bushes and grass it cut regularly but designed to have a country park feel. John and I do work hard to ensure our guests have a wonderful stay at our lodges and if any issues at all are communicated to us we will action immediately to resolve because we do care very much and take great pride in our lodges and our guests enjoyment. If you do choose to return in the future I am happy to offer you a discount for any inconvenience caused. Kind Regards Zoe Property Owner

Teal Lodge is ideally located on the Jet Ski Lake, the decking provided the ideal platform for watching families enjoying the great weather whizzing up and down the lake. The Lodge has all the facilities you need for a relaxed break, plenty of space, at no point did we feel that we were on top of each other. In my opinion Tattersall Lakes is a hidden gem, the onsite facilities are great, with all members of staff taking the necessary social distancing measures, at no point did it seem overcrowded. All 7 of us loved it. Lovely and clean. Very private location only a 5 minute walk from the facilities (we just stayed in the cabin all weekend) thankyou, we are already looking into coming back!

The hot tub is checked daily, we have checked with the company who service it and If it was heavily used Friday and people are wearing tanning or body creams it can get dirty also debris from the trees but it was serviced Saturday and Sunday when it was cleaned and new chlorine put in. The idea was that I could have a relaxing time fishing from the decking while my partner could enjoy her reading which she loves to do. You can imagine my disappointment when we arrived at Teal Lodge, walked on to the decking and saw a NO FISHING PLEASE sign. I was completely gutted! This sign WAS NOT shown in the pictures in the advertisement, if it had of been, there is no way we would've booked it as it would have not suited our needs. I spoke to a representative of Sykes and she stated that " we advertise that fishing is available on sight" which I assumed meant I could fish from the decking. The lodge is on a jet ski lake which there is no fishing allowed. Personally I think the advertising of the property is misleading and it should state that fishing is not available from the lodge especially as the owner has another lodge on the duck lake which states it does have a private fishing peg but we didn't know this at the time of booking. In fairness to the owner, they did offer me the opportunity to fish this peg but it meant I would have to drive there which defeated the object of our holiday. However, Teal Lodge itself was very nice, clean and tidy with a very nice hot tub and would make a great family holiday.

  • "Positives: This is a lovely lodge, very well situated beside the jet ski lake."

It has a good level of privacy and the views from the decking and hot tub are beautiful. It is well equipped with most kitchen items anyone would need for a short break. The kitchen, bathroom and living area facilities were mostly spotlessly clean. Arrival was perfect with the key in the key safe and thanks to clear instructions via email we could get straight inside. We enjoyed the hot tub on the second night. Improvements: towels - we were only provided with four or five towels which for eight guests obviously wasn’t enough. Luckily we’d taken beach towels for the lake so had to use these. Hot tub: despite us not checking in until 6:30pm the hot tub was cold. It was still too cold to use by 10pm and our teenagers were very disappointed the tub couldn’t be used on the first night. I appreciate the water is changed before new guests arrive but this meant we could only use it for one night of our two night stay. Considering the price we paid per night this was disappointing. (I tend to fill up my hot tub with a mix of warm and cold water so it doesn’t take as long to heat). The lid could do with renewing too. Cleanliness: like I’ve said previously the lodge is mostly spotlessly clean. However it needs a good deep clean in the nooks and crannies to remove the Cobwebs. Also the dishwasher wasn’t great at cleaning the dishes so quite a few of the glasses in the cupboard needed washing by hand so we could use them. Overall we had a great stay celebrating two big birthdays

I am pleased that you found your arrival perfect we try to make it as easy as possible. I hope you enjoyed the complimentary welcome basket. Regarding the towels there should be towels on each bed so ample for 8 people. I will mention this to the cleaner. The hot tub only has cold water access but the man does clean it early in the morning but on day of arrival it does take several hours to heat up. I will mention to the cleaning lady to check the nooks and crannies and the glasses but I know she takes great pride to ensure everything is perfect for guests arrival. So pleased you enjoyed your double birthday celebrations at Teal Lodge. Property Owner

  • "- Teal Lodge is situated in a Country Park?"

Not at all - it is a large mobile home holiday camp with a few lodges! Country Parks are beautiful, wooded environments providing peaceful walks and natural surroundings.Very disappointing! The picture of Teal Lodge on your site is very misleading! - In order to have the odd meal or drink we had to purchase a pass. This was based on the 'berth' size of the accommodation so it would have been £33 for the two of us for the three days just for occasional use! Perhaps a pass could be included in the rental? - There was no information at all in the lodge. No instructions for the cooker, hot tub, where to put rubbish, or places of interest nearby, etc. - The twinkling lights round the outside of the lodge roof disturbed sleep in one of the bedrooms and there was no way to turn them off! - The inside was clean but the veranda needed a power wash as did the hot tub and parking area. - Only one set of towels - not adequate for two people.

Thank you for your valued feedback I am sorry that you thought the photos are misleading they are professional photos taken by Sykes Cottages. Teal Lodge had a full refurbishment with new bathrooms, kitchen, flooring and furniture in May this year so all photos are recent. Tattershall lakes Country park is a fabulous family holiday park with something for everyone. There are some beautiful walks down the river and wooded areas but also there are lakes for Jet Skiing and Water Skiing. The website does state that passes are charged extra but this covers other facilities such as bars, restaurants, pool, splash zone, beach, childrens play area and arcade. We could include the passes in the cost but not all guests choose to purchase passes. The decking is washed for every guest arrival but the leaves from the trees quickly come down. The fairy lights are turned off at the mains switch I will put up a sign to show where the switch is. Despite these issues we hope you enjoyed your stay at Teal Lodge and welcome you back in the future. Property Owner
