  • "We had a really lovely time at the Bankhouse and made the most of the fab weather and beach."

There were a few little niggles that took the edge off our stay. The house itself is well laid out with all the home comforts you could think off. The courtyard garden is beautiful, secure (well sort of) and a wonderful suntrap. First niggle, which was the biggest, is the so called fridge freezer. It is tiny and certainly not suitable for 4 adults and a dog. We had arranged a Morrison delivery and quickly realised we were not going to be able to keep it all cold and fresh with the hot weather we had. There isn't a shop at all in the village, the nearest is 6 miles, not 2 as stated, hence doing an online shop. This is could easily be rectified by removing one of the numerous empty kitchen cupboards and adding an under counter fridge and freezer. There was a a small welcome pack consisting of a small loaf of bread, cherry bakewells and a bottle of wine, which were enjoyed, thank you. There was milk but as it was an opened 4 pint with 1/2 pint remaining we didn't use it, who would?! Tea & coffee, along with a few other bits pieces were provided. I chose Bankhouse after a review stated how secure it was for their nervous, reactive dog. Just what we needed. Unfortunately it could have gone horribly wrong. As we were enjoying the garden one afternoon, after a lovely day out, someone walked into the garden via the gate and started moving the recycling bins about. I was able to grab our dog before there was a nasty incident. Obviously they were doing the owners a favour but a knock on the door would be advisable. The beds were so comfortable, we all commented on how well we all slept. Plenty of extra blankets were available if needed. The bathroom is a good size, with a lovely waterfall shower. Though the bath is steep and there is a step that can make it difficult, especially getting out. The toilet flush button is very difficult to use, this needs to be looked at. Finally the front door is very difficult to open, you really have to give it a good shove. Some of these things would be extremely difficult for someone with strength and mobility issues. All in all, we had a nice break. The fabulous weather certainly helped.

  • "A very special holiday cottage."

We loved our Christmas stay at this well-equipped cottage in friendly Easington village. Decorated and furnished to a high standard and really cosy too. Easington is within easy reach of local beaches (including Withernsea, Easington and Kilnsea). Spurn point and Kilnsea Wetlands nature reserves are close by too. The garden is a good size - quiet, very private and well-established, with interesting planting. It’s rare to find a holiday cottage garden that is fully and properly enclosed – it was great to be able to give our nervous rescue dog Poppy the freedom to wander a little on her own without us having to worry. Thank you again Michelle and Grahame for a lovely stay.

We took 2 dogs so the enclosed garden was brilliant and the fact there was no grass made it easier to let them out and not have to worry about them running mud into the house. We jad a lovely little welcome basket including some treats for them which was a lovely touch. The bathroom is lovely and the kitchen well equipped but it did take us a long time to figure the hob as you have to use the same size pan as the ring and there were only 2 pans that fit the rings. The only negatives were the beds which were very creaky and uncomfortable and there is no shop in the village and the nearest one is a 16 minute drive so may be worth noting that so people make sure they bring enough food for the entire stay. The cottage was very relaxing and everything you could think of needing was there. There were plenty of logs for the fire and the welcome pack was a very nice addition. We managed to park right outside however there is plenty of parking in the village square a matter of steps away. The only slight negative was noise from next door when they came in or went up or downstairs but this is simply because of the layout of the cottages - stairs next to each other - and we soon got used to it. The garden is lovely and we can imagine it will be beautiful to sit out in the summer. We were there just after New Year and despite being the middle of winter, the cottage was very warm unlike some cottages. It is a short walk from the beach and there are two pubs a few steps away. Were also greeted by a very generous hamper of provisions which included milk, bread, eggs, biscuits, a bottle of white wine and a packet of doggy treats, the latter much enjoyed by our dog. The information booklet lists all the things needed for our stay as well as some very helpful suggestions and maps for walks. The beach is only a short walk away and, apart from it being very windy, proved a real bonus with the dog. The enclosed garden is great, both for sitting out (when the weather suits - which it did for us!) and for giving our lively border collie cross a bit of ball-chasing. There is even a summer house which my wife enjoyed for her morning meditations.

The welcome basket was lovely and generous and they even thought about our son and the dogs with the treats they left! The area is also pretty but quiet! We have a young child so found it hard to entertain him as everything was quite a drive away. We came home 2 days early but this is no reflection on the quality of the accommodation just we felt we had seen everything. Hull is worth seeing, we enjoyed the deep and the art gallery.
