"Fantastic! Very clean and cosy cottage!"

"We had a lovely holiday at Arthur's cottage it was everything we hoped for."
One small point having to vacate on our last day at 10am was perfectly understandable. But not being able to gain entry until 5pm on our day of arrival is far too late. It means you lose a total day from your holiday. A more realistic arrival time would be between 2pm and 3pm. This would still allow a minimum cleaning time of 4 to 5 hours.
We are so pleased that you had a lovely Holiday and you found the cottage itself to be everything you hoped for. In the point of the check in time being at 5pm unfortunately not all our guests leave the cottage as tidy as they could and as we look after the changeover ourselves the time period from 10 until 5 allows us to do a in-depth clean plus the garden front and back ( weather permitting) which we also look after ourselves. If we do finish early we will always message the guests to inform them that the cottage is ready, unfortunately in this instance we had to use the maximum time aloud. Property Owner

"Just returned from a lovely holiday in an excellent cottage."
It has everything we needed, including a Nespresso coffee machine which was a real bonus! The furniture including the bedrooms is all very comfortable and the decor, particularly the spectacular slate wall in the double bedroom all create an excellent ambience to the cottage. We ate, including breakfast, outside whenever the weather permitted taking in the lovely views all around. The gardens are excellent for sitting in and enjoying the good weather and also totally contained for our two dogs to run around in. The Railway Inn, over the road, offers an excellent choice of local beers as well as the more traditional plus superb home cooked food at lunch and in the evening. There are lots of places to visit within a short drive. A ride on the Talyllyn Railway is a must! You can hear the train and catch glimpses of it through the trees from the back garden. Whilst there we had a visit from the original Arthur’s brother who was back in the area for a visit. It was good having a chat with him about the house and village. We would highly recommend it and hope to return next year.
Thank you Paul for your wonderful comments and review of the cottage. We are so pleased that you found everything to be so comfortable and we also appreciate your compliments on the decor. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Property Owner

"Arthur’s cottage was lovely."
Very clean, fresh decor, comfy beds and furniture, pretty gardens which were safe and secure for our dog, everything needed for holiday home comfort. Perfect position in the village, easy access and parking, great location to visit the surrounding area. Would highly recommend.
Hello Melanie thank you for taking the time to leave us such a glowing review, we always strive to ensure our guests feel like it’s a home from home at Arthur’s Cottage and are so pleased you found everything was at such a high standard. "Arthur's cottage is a lovely place to stay in a quiet village from where you can choose different walks with a cafe opposite and a pub only a few yards away."
It is decorated tastefully and has first class equipment and showers. It has everything you need for a holiday. The cottage is well situated to visit different places including a forest, lovely Aberdifi and Barmouth which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Thank you so much Susan for taking the time to offer your positive feedback we really do appreciate it. We take pride in the cottage and are so pleased that you enjoyed your time with us. Hopefully we can welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

"Chairs in lounge uncomfortable Oven needed a clean Change the toilet brushes ..."
Chairs in lounge uncomfortable Oven needed a clean Change the toilet brushes But overall enjoyed our stay and will be back again for the 3rd time Beautiful surroundings and area Recommend staying here especially with a dog Lots of lovely walks
Dear Kevin, Thank you for your review and for your repeat booking with us at Arthur’s Cottage. We are really sorry to hear that you found the chairs in the lounge uncomfortable. They could have been on the firmer side as we recently purchased a brand new sofa set as the previous one needed replacing. Hopefully with some repeated use they will have become softer for your next visit. In regard to the oven not being clean along with the toilet brushes, again we apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused. We strive ourselves on ensuring the cleanliness of Arthur’s Cottage is always presented to a very high standard and all our previous reviews do highlight that. We do hope these minor issues do not stop you from booking again and we hopefully will welcome you back at Arthur’s Cottage very soon. Property Owner

"Fantastic cottage, the gardens at the cottage are so lovely, very dog friendly, the cottage is so comfortable, spacious and spotless."
Great walks for our dogs and loads to do in the area. The Castle was amazing. Thank you for a fantastic stay! Just perfect!

"Yet another great stay at this wonderful cottage Five star!"
-
"I came across this cottage by chance when searching for dog friendly cottages and how pleased I am to have found it!"
The cottage was 100% perfect for our needs and plenty of room for us, as a couple, two dogs plus two granddaughters aged 4 and 10. Everything was so thoughtfully presented, with lovely little touches (torches in bedside drawers) plus everywhere was meticulously clean and uplifting. The secure little gardens, as well as the many breathtaking walks straight out of the door were also a real bonus. We enjoyed the little railway, Magic Lanten Cinema in Towyn and King Arthur’s Labyrinth. Aberdovey and Towyn beaches provided fun for the dogs and plenty of paddling for the girls. Finally the owners were great with their communication and couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating- a huge thank you!
Thank you so much for this review we really appreciate your lovely comments and hope to welcome you back in the future. Property Owner

"Really lovely cottage, appreciated the extra touches like the torches."
Felt homely and was great to come back to at the end of the day. Loved the decor. The enclosed garden was fantastic for my dogs. To prevent dogs going upstairs a stair gate or barrier would be good. I think there’s a lovely castor oil plant in the back garden but it’s poisonous to dogs
-
"An absolutely immaculately presented cottage."
Parking not as hazardous as suggested as the road is so quiet - only the rushing falls to listen to at night. Walking the dogs up the lane needs some cardiac fitness! Great location for aberdovey, Tywyn, Machynlleth, Barmouth, Dolgellau, beach, Cader Idris (No of course we didn’t, we couldn’t even see the top) Talyllyn railway. The Brit in Aberdovey remains the best pub, Millie and Sid’s in Tywyn is a great place to eat out. Could not have hoped for a lovelier place to stay - thank you!
Thank you so much for this review we are so pleased you had an enjoyable stay and hopefully you can return and maybe do Cader Idris next time, we’ve done it and it’s well worth it . Property Owner

"Lovely cottage in a beautiful spot with walks on the doorstep."
Fab for our two dogs with both front and back gardens enclosed. The cottage is well equipped and finished to a high standard. Comfy bed too! Would definitely recommend.

"Spent last week at Arthur's cottage just perfect."
This cottage is fantastic has got everything you need. The owners have put lots of nice finishing touches, it is very homely as soon as you walk in. The cleanliness is spot on all through. We had a great week lots of nice places to explore..Dolgech falls is worth a visit. The cafe opposite the cottage is worth a visit, the breakfast is a must. Our little dog enjoyed his sausage very welcoming. We will definitely return in the future to this truly amazing cottage. Thanks again to the owners for a very pleasant stay.
Thank you so much Susan for your very kind review of the cottage. We are so pleased you had an enjoyable stay and we look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Chris and Paul. Property Owner

"Just returned from a wonderful week at Arthur’s Cottage."
The cottage is perfect for a relaxing break and feels welcoming and homely as soon as you walk through the door. It is decorated to a high standard with comfortable beds and lovely bathrooms. The two gardens are secure for pets and have stunning views. We went on the Talyllyn Railway which was great and a step back in time. You could catch a glimpse of the train from the back garden and hear its toots! We also visited Tywyn one evening to take a beautiful sunset photo. Tyn y Cornel is a good place for a drink by the lake. Gorgeous setting and we were treated to a RAF fly past! Would definitely like to return one day and would recommend this cottage.
-
"A fabulous cottage beautifully decorated, comfortable furniture and beds."
Small well equipped kitchen and a safe outside space for everyone to enjoy. This was our second visit and highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a relaxing stay in beautiful rural Wales. The location allows you to explore surrounding towns, beaches and the most breathtaking countryside.
-
"A comfy,cosy cottage."
Good facilities and really comfortable beds. Small kitchen but adequate for 4adults. Plenty of lovely walks and wonderful scenery. Enjoyable stay had by all!
-
"Beautiful Cottage in the perfect location."
The front and back gardens are fully enclosed for dog to run free. The sun shines in both front and back from sunrise to sunset. You can walk from the cottage for 10 minutes up the hill and be at a mountain waterfall. The Cafe opposite is open for breakfast from 0900 to 1400 Tuesday to Friday and 1000 to 1500 on Saturdays and Sundays. I recommend the full breakfast (they even cater for dogs, Buddy loved his morning sausage.) Ample parking for 2 cars with overflow parking in the free carpark opposite the Cottage. We Like it so much that we have booked for next year already !
Thank you so much for the positive comments and we look forward to welcoming you back next year. Property Owner

"The cottage was lovely the little extras like the tea and coffee and biscuits just made it all feel extra special."
The cottage was very clean and tidy and felt very welcoming when we arrived. We had a really nice stay and definitely would highly recommend! Both me and my husband definitely would stay again in the future.

"A truly first class property, 5 stars for cleanliness, comfort, equipment and decor."
Will definitely return and have no hesitation in recommending.
-
"An extremely well presented property with a good standard of furnishings."
Very good location if you want a quiet relaxing holiday to unwind....which we did!
-
"Excellent & comfortable cottage with lovely outside space front & rear, both of which were dog-friendly."
Abergynolwyn falls are right on the doorstep, the blue walk (about 6k) is well worth doing although might be a bit muddy if it has been raining recently. Shame the pub was closed (again) but the Ty'n y Cornel hotel on the Tal-y-llyn isn't too far and has lovely lake views.
Thank you so much for those wonderful comments about the cottage. It is very sad that unfortunately the pub remains closed but hopefully it will be taken on by someone in the not to distant future. Property Owner

-
"Really Lovely, 3 days we did not drive the car at all which says it all."
Please tell the owner that the bin men would not empty the brown one because it did not have a 2022 sticker.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. Also thank you for letting us know about the bin we will be looking into this. We look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

"We had a fabulous stay at Arthur's Cottage and would definitely return in the future."
The property was very well maintained, comfortable, very homely, and set in a wonderful location. On our arrival an added bonus of a delicious welsh fruit cake was warmly welcomed too.
So pleased that you enjoyed the ‘Bara Brith’ and thanks again for your lovely comments. Property Owner

"This is a stunning cottage, very tastefully furnished with everything we needed."

"Arthur's Cottage was superb, immaculately clean and with well thought out facilities."
The location is perfect for both the coast and Snowdonia National Park and the re-opening of the village pub and cafe gives you the option of eating out without having to drive. It would be difficult to find a better appointed cottage within the region and we would recommend it to couples and families.
-
"We loved the cottage."
It was equipped with everything you needed and very clean apart from the massive toad that hopped across the floor in the lounge
Thank you so much for our 100% score we greatly appreciate it. We were unaware we had a resident toad in the cottage but we hope this didn’t spoil your break. Property Owner

"Arthur’s Cottage is a beautiful cottage in a stunning location, ideal for walking and also visiting nearby beaches."
Directions provided made it really easy to find. The cottage is all really tasteful and well equipped with all you need and also extras like a slow cooker, coffee machine board games and hairdryers, there was even a bara brith waiting for us and dog treats which was lovely. It was very clean and well maintained. The owners are really helpful and good at communicating, providing instructions for the log burner and messaging on our arrival. We very much enjoyed our stay despite the gales and rain and were warm and cosy throughout.
Thank you so much for your kind words and positive feedback. We are so glad you had an enjoyable time despite the weather and hopefully look forward to welcoming you back again soon. Property Owner

"We very much enjoyed our stay at Arthur's Cottage."
It was very well equipped. We and Beth The Dog enjoyed the walks up into the woodland from the front door.
-
"Excellent stay at a first class facility in a great location."
Situated in the middle of the village Arthur’s Cottage is ideally located for access onto beautiful country walks, alongside the waterfalls, and all local facilities. The cottage is very well equipped with all the facilities you would want - espresso machine, dishwasher, log burner, good Wi-Fi, great en-suite shower etc. Overall a fantastic stay in a great place.
Thank you so much for the positive feedback we hope to welcome you back again to Arthur’s Cottage soon. Property Owner

"This is a gem of a cottage in a great location."
Walks from the door and only 7 miles to the coast. The views are stunning and the surrounding countryside is truly fantastic. I would thoroughly recommend a stay in Arthur’s Cottage.

"This is a beautiful cottage with everything you could need."
The area is great for walkers, and behind the cottage is a walking area full of surprises .. we loved it and hope to return .. the closed pub has also just reopened ..
-
"We book a cottage every year and Arthur's Cottage is the best one we have ever been to."
We honestly cannot recommend it enough, it far exceeded our expectations. It is cosy, comfortable, has excellent facilities, has lovely character and a very pretty enclosed garden that was very safe for our furbabies and with spectacular views front and back. We couldn't believe how close all the beautiful walks are.. spectacular waterfall woodland walks just 5 minutes walk up lane from back gate, and a beautiful mountain walk just over 5 minutes from front gate down far side of play park. Short drives to Tywyn, Aberdyfi, and castell y bere which we loved, and many other magical places. We highly recommend booking Arthur's Cottage, you definitely won't be disappointed. Very good communication off the lovely owners too.
Thank you so much for your kind words and feedback. We greatly appreciate it and look forward to welcoming you back soon. Property Owner

"Fabulous location, lovely cottage, sad to find both the pub and cafe closed which was a big draw when we booked."
Many thanks for your Feedback Julie we are so pleased you enjoyed your holiday and the cottage. Sorry to hear of your disappointment at the cafe being closed but good news the pub has reopened. Property Owner

"This was our first visit to South Snowdonia and Arthur’s Cottage was an ideal base for exploring the area, being well positioned for both hills and coast."
The cottage has been recently renovated to a very high standard, is very well equipped and comfortable and we were able to use the outside space as the weather was kind to us. Contact with the owners was prompt and friendly, they let us know by text when the cottage was ready for us. Sadly, the pub and cafe in the village are both closed at the moment, perhaps casualties of the lock downs.

The property
Arthur’s Cottage holds a lot of history and personality, named after one of the previous owners who had a positive presence in the village of Abergynolwyn for his charisma and character much like ‘Doc’ from Back to the Future, this cottage is a real hit with the locals who will be happy to tell tales of the much-loved man.
A beautiful stone-built, semi-detached property, it’s a wonderful place for small families or friends to unwind in the idyllic settings of Wales.
Walk down the stone path of the front garden, a precious space directly opposite rolling hills, be sure to stop here with your morning coffee the next day to take in the breath-taking scenes.
As soon as you enter the property you will step into the lounge, a plush and simplistic area, offering you a marvellous woodburning stove against exposed stone and slate, it intertwines modern and traditional interior to give the cottage even more character than it already holds through its previous history.
There is a twin bedroom on the ground floor, with two single beds, it’s ideal for kids or even friends to get a restful sleep without the hassle of top and tale.
Head down the corridor to the shower room, perfect after a rainy walk with the dogs where you can hang your coat on the heated towel rail outside the room to avoid any mucky pawprints.
Climbing up the tasteful tartan staircase, you will find a glorious master bedroom in the style of a mezzanine, with a daring but delightful slate wall above the bed, it’s a great room for couples, with views overlooking stunning scenery and a small seating area next to the window for you to enjoy a morning snack, it’s a lovely room to help you unwind before the adventure really begins.
If you are looking for places to eat directly opposite the cottage you will find Y Caffi which serves breakfast, main meals and a selection of cakes plus hot and cold beverages.
It opens 09:00 till 15:00 every day (09:00 till 15:00 Wednesday to Sunday from September to March and closed all of January ).
Not far from the village you will also find the Talyllyn railway cafe which also serves hot and cold beverages, soups, sandwiches and mouth-watering cakes and tempting treats, dogs are also welcome in both cafes. A five minute drive away is the Gwesty Tynycornel Hotel which is located on the banks of the beautiful Talyllyn Lake.
The restaurant offers lunch, afternoon tea, evening and Sunday lunch menus.
A ten minute drive is the seaside town of Tywyn, which boasts several cafes, pubs and restaurants along with a local supermarket and petrol station.
Surrounded by plentiful tourist attractions, you’re in for an action-packed holiday in close proximity to the historic narrow-gauge Talyllyn Railway, King Arthur’s Labyrinth, and Corris Mine Explorers, the local area hosts an array of activities that are fun for all the family.
Next stop is Aberdovey, where you will find an excellent golf course with sea views for those who have brought their clubs, as well as a fantastic beach, where you can beachcombe the shores, build sandcastles with the little ones, or treat the family to fresh fish and chips after a delightful swim.
For more beach action, head to Aberystwyth which has a beautiful beach where you can soak up the sun with your favourite book, as well as the Aberystwyth Castle Grounds where you can explore the once remarkable 13th-century castle and the Vale of Rheidol Railway, where you can hop aboard an old-style steam train and settle down in first class carriage for a tour through the rolling hills and woodlands.
Be sure to venture further afield into the lands of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, where you can find even more stunning scenery as well as things to do dotted around every village including the Dyffryn Ardudwy Burial Chamber and the ruins of Cymer Abbey, there’s plenty of history to explore in this bustling area of Wales.
Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £250.
