  • "Arrived Friday 30th August to find ground floor bedroom had not been split into a twin after requesting it, we did it ourselves."

Tumble dryer not working, reported it! Asked for a towel change because we had no way of drying the one bath towel provided to each of us, the replacement towels were disgusting. Master bedroom shower leaked, flooded the bathroom and soaked the carpet, on Sunday it leaked through the ceiling of ground floor bedroom. Reported it! The owners/caretakers inspected the damage and agreed that the shower/cubicle was in such a poor state it could not be used. We paid for an en suite but very inconveniently had to borrow other showers all week, it was very annoying and embarrassing. This problem was obviously an ongoing issue because on inspection of ground floor bedroom ceiling there was a hole and staining from it happening before. No internet all week! The grounds are in a very poor state, the decking area was unsafe, we did not use it! Grounds were covered in poop, dogs/chickens… this should all be cleared before new holiday makers arrive, we literally had to carefully pick our way through it. The whole property needs a complete revamp! Broken tumble dryer! Broken shower! Broken chair in kitchen! No Internet!

  • "We have just returned from a week in Tynewydd Fields and had a wonderful, multi generational holiday there."

The house was large enough for us to get together but offered space for quiet time too. The children thoroughly enjoyed the outside entertainments, especially the dogs and egg collecting each morning. There is a big 'but' however. Based upon the price we had paid we expected the accommodation to be of a reasonably high standard, however that wasn't the case. The initial impression was that the outside needed some TLC. The garden area was overgrown, there was chicken dirt in front of the door and a neglected old caravan in the grounds. The decked patio area was in a poor state of repair (we protected feet from a protruding screw with a large candle) and the few seats provided were dirty and mismatched. The rubbish bins in the shed were overflowing with what appeared to be several weeks worth of rubbish. Inside, first impressions were positive; good kitchen, lovely big sitting room and useful games room that we appreciated. Unfortunately the impressive TV was not working so we had to make do with connecting it to a laptop to get limited use. We reported this at the start of our stay, however nothing was done. The kitchen was well equipped, however the dishwasher rarely cleaned a full load. The bedrooms were where the standard of the accommodation was poorest. All the beds had poor mattresses which needing replacing and only two had mattress covers. This a basic hygiene requirement for rental properties. The bedding was very tired and looked as though it had been in use for several seasons. Also it would have been nice if the towels were decent quality and full size. One of the upstairs bedrooms had a broken velux blind so a towel was used to block out the light and its en suite was far from clean. Its light fitting was full of dead flies, there was no hot water in that room and the shower was dirty. Despite the disappointment in the 'sad' presentation we enjoyed our stay but think the owners need to be aware of the problems so they can be addressed. The property is in need of a real overhaul and some serious maintenance work if it is to live up to the expectations the price suggests.

Beautiful surrounding it really made you feel like you were in the country. However The mattresses and bed linen are in dire need of replacing they are very hard and uncomfortable. Cariad cottage guests need to be told that the courtyard doesn’t belong to them as we had screaming children infront of the patio doors until late which then triggered the dogs barking. But all in all a lovely stay the outside does need some cleaning the chicken droppings were everywhere all over the mat at the front door we had to dodge them to get to the hot tub. If these small things were addressed it would be perfect

All thoroughly enjoyed themselves! Outside spaces were wonderful (and weather kind enough to enjoy them fully). Selection of 'entertainment' (pools, games, play area, etc) well used and thoroughly enjoyed. Warmly greeted, by both humans and animals. Would love to return. Attention needed to appliances in the kitchen - cooker hood not working, ovens temperamental, one faulty gas ring, dishwasher doesn't! Also greater number and selection of saucepans needed. Description in brochure mentions downstairs WC, sink. I am assuming this was sacrificed for the lift, but means that guests were using downstairs bedrooms' en suites. The above is not a formal complaint, more friendly advice. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

There were just a few suggestions that we did have, the outdoor space was vast but the seating for a large group (9 of us) was lacking, it would be nice if there was more seating on the decking area as well as a little bench or something in the children's play area for parents to sit at whilst watching their children (ours were too young that we couldn't allow them outside without an adult). We also noticed how there was an area that we assume was an allotment, it would have been lovely if it was this! The smaller downstairs bedroom didn't have a full sized mirror which I know my grandma would have appreciated. We all loved the jacuzzi and swim spa, however one of the wooden steps were wobbly. The hot tub and pool was really relaxing for adults and fun for kids. The bedrooms are big in size. The kitchen is massive and really satisfying as we did a lot of cooking, even kids managed to do some baking session. The playground was very good too. The owner is also very accommodating and nice to us. The washing mahine and dryer was a bonus. The wifi was not that good, but in a way it was good as children was able to play other games not using wifi. The lounge was massive and comfy with wood fire place. We were able to do karaoke as a one big family. The pool game and football game were fun and part of the attraction. The dining room is also massive and can accommodate us for our meal times. Controls were not usable couldnt control temperature of water. It was either red hot or freezing cold. Owner was informed nothing was done.In the guest book it was also mentioned in October.Having a disabled daughter made it very inconvenient. The wine chiller in the kitchen wasnt working tho owner said he would come back the following day to have a look and repair and never did. The wood burner in the lounge we were unable to use every time we tried it smoked the house out.We have one at home the only thing we could think of is there is a blockage in the chimney or it needs sweeping. One of the baths upstairs when you emptied the bath water was seeping out from under the bath the owner was informed. His answer to that was I think I need a full time plumber. On our day of departure when we stripped the beds we were horrified at the state of some of the duvets. The one in the upstairs disabled room was urine stained to a point it was absolutely disgusting. Our one in the other upstairs double room was splattered in blood. We do have photo’s of the duvets if you want to see. The Xmas tree was nearly dead when we got there all the baubles were falling off. The overall cleanliness of the place was grim way below the standard we expect from Sykes. When you are paying the price they are charging you dont expect all these issues.
