  • "We had a wonderful stay at Bodaioch cottage, Sam was super helpful when we were arriving and there was so much space for our party to settle in."

We really appreciated the milk, bread, etc. when we arrived - a lovely touch from the owner :-) All bedrooms were as described and there were plenty of towels for all the guests too. We did find a few small cleaning issues when we first arrived, such as biscuit wrappers on one of the bathroom floors and dirt/crumbs underneath the dining room table, but this didn't affect our stay. We would suggest somewhere to hang coats would be beneficial, but otherwise the cottage was perfect for our needs.

  • "Stunning property & views , so peaceful We noticed when we arrived that the floors weren’t cleaned properly & the hot tub needed a really good clean out as you could feel the dirt when you got in, as we were there for a week the hot tub should have been treated whilst we were there as by day 4 every morning it had a ring of dirt around the side."

We also noticed parts of the house had damage/windows wouldn’t shut properly All in all the house was what we wanted to celebrate a week away with the family for my 30th birthday. Not much too do local but if your happy to drive over an hour it’s lovely

  • "We had a lovely week here as a family."

No problems with the cottage at all. Had all we needed. Would be good to have more hooks around to hang things, like coats, towels, dressing gowns etc and shelving in the showers. But a great week in beautiful surroundings with lots of beautiful places to visit.

  • "The outside space at this cottage is faultless, large enclosed garden and lovely hot tub."

It is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, the inside really lets it down. Although it is spacious, it is very tired in some parts and really needs to be tidied up and thoroughly cleaned. There is plaster peeling off the walls in the kitchen and the kitchen is very grubby, particularly the floor, there was broken glass on the kitchen floor when we arrived, possibly from a beer/wine bottle but not great with kids and dogs. There were also broken utensils, like the can opener and the knives were either missing rusty or dirty. The most off putting thing is that there are strips of fly catchers hanging from the ceilings throughout the property, full of flies and the one above the dining table was so full that flies were actually dropping onto the table. The upstairs is better, nice bed linen and comfortable beds but again things are broken. It also states that towels are provided but the majority of these are hand towels. There were not enough bath towels for us all. We go away with another family in Wales every year and this is the most expensive so far, we have stayed in cheaper properties that have been cleaner and better equipped, so overall just feel disappointed as the property could be easily improved to a better standard with some upgrades and maintenance.

I’m really sad to hear this as we like to keep everything to as satisfactory for our guests as possible. With regards to these issues I wish that you contacted me to reassure and replace or correct anything that was not up to your standard. I can’t apologies enough for the glass as I checked the property and seen nothing but my mistake In regard to peeling walls this is part of the history of the property, as the property is so old the kitchen and dining room used to be used for hanging and salting pigs. As a result of this salt is full the walls. This results in the paint peeling off the walls although we get them repainted weekly they just keep peeling. It’s not lack of maintenance it’s just the history of the building causing this issue but when explained guests usually understand. Finally in regard to fly stickies. The property is in the middle of the country side and we do get flies. This we cannot control but use every means necessary to prevent them around the property. This does mean fly stickies are put up but more are provided under the sink for you to replace to keep them to a minimum. As we put them up the morning before you arrival and if doors or windows are left open they do attract in. Again this is out of our control and all we can do is apologies for this. But I do wish you had contacted me about all of these issues as you first arrived as they could have all been rectified. The only thing I can really apologies for is not noticing the broken opener and that some knives need changing which can be rectified straight away. Of course as well for the glass which I cannot believe I did not see I am sorry Thank you The Property Owner Property Owner

  • "We stayed in February and the cottage and its surroundings are absolutely beautiful, the beds were like sleeping on clouds."

The cottage has everything you need for a weeks stay and to facilitate cooking etc. The garden is beautiful and a large size, the only downside for us was the dog could escape through the hedge by the front gate but the rest is very enclosed. Would definitely recommend others stay but you would need your dog to be very good as they cannot go upstairs which can be a challenge as the stair way is too wide to put up a safety gate to stop them. Lovely stay, so peaceful and quiet. I would definitely book to go here again

Thank you for your feedback. We are working on getting a stair gate but as you are aware it is very difficult as it so wide. However, there is a door from the lounge and from the dining room so stairs can be shut off at all times. So dogs or children can be stopped going upstairs by using the doors. Once again thank you for the feedback and we hope you enjoyed your stay. Property Owner

The welcome essentials were much appreciated! The cottage was always warm and cosy, the games room was well used by adults and children and provided hours of fun! My only negative comment would be that it isn't advertised as being a semi-detatched property. We only found out on the booking confirmation. This wasn't a problem but we would have preferred a detatched property -with so many people you don't want to be thinking about disturbing the neighbours! Saying that, we would still go back in a heartbeat!

  • "A beautiful cottage with tranquil surrounding views."

Upon entering, it was warm and inviting. There were thoughtful gifts of bread, milk, and a lemon cake waiting for us too. We immediately felt at home and had plenty of space for us all to enjoy. Some areas of the cottage do require some TLC and attention. It's also worth noting that pets aren't allowed on the furniture or upstairs. This isn't mentioned in the description but is in the handbook upon arrival and may be helpful information to others looking to book. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bodaioch Cottage and would happily stay again.

Lovely private garden and secure for our dog. We did have a few issues which were rectified immediately when we raised them with the owners. The dining room and kitchen was big enough for us all comfortably cook and eat and we really felt at home. We also really enjoyed using the games room too! Having come from a busy city to be able to sit in such a peaceful garden with sheep grazing in the field next to it was just amazing. Communication with Sam was brilliant regarding getting the keys and checking in/out. The little touches like welcome cake and bread was also fabulous! All bedrooms have an ensuite so perfect for families and groups to have some privacy. We had amazing weather for March! And put the garden, hot tub and all the seating to good use. Garden is a proper sun trap! Loads of room for all eating together in the evening. A little shop opened in the village whilst we were there and is a easy 5-10min walk. We did a lovely circular walk from the house in to the village and back by the river. Owners are contactable if needed, and really helpful.
