Very comfortable & clean cottage. Had everything we needed. Even the weather was good. Easy access north & south via the local train. Great walking into the hills behind the cottage. Really hope we'll be able to return!

  • "We had a wonderful holiday at Brynteg."

It is a beautiful spacious bungalow in a lovely location. There are many walks on the doorstep to enjoy and the beach is just 5 minutes away. We visited Barmouth, Aberdovey, Tywyn, Dolgellau and Fairbourne to name a few, plus there are many mountains and lakes to explore. A really lovely place to stay. Just a small suggestion to the owner...a shoe tray in the hall for outdoor shoes would be good but that is all as everything else you need is here.

Hello Elaine, thank you for your comments, looking forward to seeing you again. Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hopefully if you return the weather will be kinder to you. Property Owner

  • "Plenty of room for Grandparents, son and 2 grandchildren."

Garden was spacious so kids could play., and there is a playground almost opposite. Friendly neighbours. Beach an easy walk, and kids loved the knitted stuff around the village and the trains! We had glorious weather. Unfortunately the local pub was closed and up for sale, and the village shop was closed for refurbishment, but shop at Hendre Hall was useful. Some slightly negative points: The bed in the top bedroom is very creaky. The velux windows in top bedroom let in a lot of early morning light. The chairs could do with some felt pads on legs as they are noisy when moved over floor. TV reception is poor and choice of channels also not great. We took an Amazon fire stick which meant we could watch Olympics highlights in the evenings. It would have been useful to know what day bins were emptied (Monday) as they were full when we arrived. Things we enjoyed locally: Local beach Dolgoch falls Cregennan Lakes Barmouth beach - we went on train from Llwyngwril Fairbourne beach and railway

Dear Julie, sorry you found some aspects of your stay in Brynteg disappointing. There is new smart t.v which was installed this weekend so plenty of channels now and super picture. The bed upstairs ( which we thought was due to the headboard) has now finally been resolved. The base (which is in two separate parts) one of the screws had come out so no more squeaky bed. The chairs in the kitchen have now had new felt pads on to replace the previous ones. Thank you. Property Owner

I had a very calm and relaxing time in the picturesque village of Llwngwril and will most definitely be coming back. The location has to be seen to to be believed and whilst there i felt as if i had been transported to another world. Fortunately my visit coincided with the best weather of the year and provided a stunning backdrop to the area. The property is located opposite Hendre Hall which has a great little bar and coffee shop also there is a well stocked farm shop on the site as well. Also a short walk up the road is a friendly pub which provides great food for when you don't feel like cooking. The highlight for me were the numerous beaches all easily accessible these included:Fairbourne(which is stunning as the sun comes down),Twyne(a small quiet resort),Barmouth(a busier bustling place) and my personal favourite Tal y Bont(very quiet and more remote). You will i am sure be able to curate your visit to your own personal taste and the area will take care of the rest. The property itself had absolutely everything that i needed and i am happy to provide a recommendation. Many thanks to you Peter and Carole.

  • "Brynteg is a fantastically positioned cottage for exploring the west coast of Wales."

The village of Llwyngwril is charming and had recently had a garden show. It was full of yarn bombing including a very impressive dragon just a few doors away. The cottage is well placed for accessing lovely beaches at Aberdovey to the south and Barmouth to the north. There are also several small gauge steam railways nearby and we road them all during our week in the area. There was a playground across the road and the cottage was just a 5min walk to the beach where we explored rock pools and enjoyed kite flying. We were four adults and two children (6 and 2) and there was plenty of space in the cottage for all of us. Our grandchildren loved the big back garden and enjoyed playing there. As adults we were happy to know it was secure and they were safe there. The cottage itself was tidy and welcoming and had most everything we needed for our stay. I missed the notation that towels were not included and we had a mad dash to find somewhere late Saturday afternoon where we could purchase some. Even without these it would have been helpful to have dishcloths for drying available in the kitchen. It was useful having a washing machine available. However, we only found three pegs for the washing line and there was no airer available in the cottage which made it very challenging to get clothes dry after washing. In spite of comments and requests from previous guests there is still a lack of rails or hooks in the bathroom for wet towels and this was very difficult with six of us using the bathroom facilities. I have noted from other reviews that guests have been commenting on the beds as being rickety, squeaking on movement and not particularly comfortable. These comments have been in several reviews since 2018. Although the owners stated they had replaced mattresses at some point we found that the beds overall, but particularly the one upstairs and the two twin beds were noisy and uncomfortable. This has not been the case in other Sykes cottages with similar ratings where we have stayed. I would encourage the owners to bite the bullet and purchase new bed frames and mattresses for the property to ensure that guests have a good night’s sleep while staying here. Overall feedback would be much improved if this was done. We so much enjoyed our week in the area and would love to come back. We would definitely stay at Brynteg again if we could be assured that these issues commented on regularly by guests were rectified. Thank you Carole and Pete.

  • "A wonderful location in a sweet little village with stunning scenery."

The house was spacious, clean and comfortable, and we enjoyed our stay. Plenty of local walks, including the lovely walk over the bridge to Barmouth, and easy access to trips further afield. There were some challenges which have been mentioned by previous reviewers, which if fixed would boost reviews - It could be made clearer in the listing that there are no towels are provided (towels simply aren't mentioned), The fridge door lower shelf is missing, No blinds in the upper bedroom meant very early morning wake-ups, Upper bedroom bed base feels broken somehow - rather uncomfortable, Some thoughtful touches missing - not major, but make a difference - lack of hooks on doors, lack of lock on bathroom etc. If fixed these would all make a big difference. We had a great holiday in a lovely location.

Hello Ruth, sorry about the towels, we always tell people when they ring about key instructions that you need to take towels, unfortunately you were en-route when you phoned. We have looked on the details and yes you are right there is nothing on there to say take your own towels so will ring Sykes to have it put on. We will measure up and fit blinds to the dormer windows as you are the third person to mention this ( I have never had them fitted as I like the sun shining through them when I wake up) but that’s my choice. I don’t like hooks attached to the doors but have seen some that fit over the door so will get some. We had new mattresses on all beds two years ago and are not aware of any problem with divan base but again will look at it this coming weekend. Regards Carole and Pete. Property Owner

The cottage is spacious with 3 large bedrooms, a lovely sitting room and a great kitchen, well equipped where we were happy to cook most days. The internet connection is very good too. There is a garden where we relaxed on our last day before our journey back to London ! The place is very comfortable and we felt "home" straight away. It is a perfect location: easy access to the lovely Llwryngwril beach, public footpaths and close to Barmouth, Tywyn and Dolgellau for great hiking in Snowdonia! The owner, Peter, is very friendly and could not be more helpful. The weather was very sunny all week apart from one rainy day :). • "We couldn’t have asked for a better location the area was absolutely stunning and a good base to explore."

On first glance the bungalow was spacious and it had everything described on the site. The owners were attentive when we had a problem and contacted us straight away. There are good size rooms with plenty of space for clothes and hangers (usually a problem in most places we stay). A few areas are lacking that could be easily rectified and which would really elevate this property. - Hooks in the bathroom to hang damp towels. - Dressing tables in the bedroom, or at least one in a bedroom, as there are mirrors but not easily comfortable to access when doing make up and hair. - The top floor bed needs replacing as it’s so rickety and noisy that we had disturbed sleep every night. - Some pots and pans need replacing as they’re buckled and don’t sit flat on the hob, which means they don’t heat up quickly or effectively. It’s also very hard to decipher the temperature settings as the numbers were worn off. - Back door lock needs attention as it’s stiff and couldn’t remove key when unlocked. While it is stated that towels and tea towels are not supplied, it would be nice touch as with a large family they are bulky items to bring with you. Not to get too bogged down on the negatives we did have a good time and it is a homely property with owners who care about your stay.

Dear Darrin , There is a towel rail on the shower door as you will have noticed and I personally don’t like hooks, we usually hang the towels outside on the line. We feel that the property is furnished to a really good standard with full length mirrors and seats in the two main bedrooms.on the subject of the bed upstairs I am sorry that you didn’t sleep well but the problem is not actually the bed( which had a brand new mattress last year) it is a problem with the headboard which we have at times had to secure and obviously need to re-fix to the wall. We will look at the back door lock next week . Thank you for your comments,Carole( property owner) Property Owner

The beds were comfortable the heating and the shower powerful and hot, and we felt very happy staying there! It is a credit to its owners and we found it very clean everywhere on arrival. The Bungalow is well situated and has views of the bay from the lounge window - something of a great for us seeing the sea every morning as we live in the Centre of England - and from where we could easily check to confirm that the train was running, not that it didn’t even during the storms we experienced during our visit! The station is a ten minute walk and offers a very convenient and inexpensive service into Barmouth, £4 return, and the opportunity to travel over the Railway Viaduct across the Mawddach Estuary. A well stocked Co-Op is to be found next to the Station there also! You can take the train to places north in Snowdonia, such as Harlech and Porthmadog and south to Aberdyfi and Machynlleth - all in were in easy reach if you preferred to leave the car at home. We used Brynteg as a base for travelling on some of the “Great Little Trains of Wales”, one of which, the Talyllyn was a 15 minute drive away south based in the seaside resort of Towyn, where we spent a memorable day on “The Victorian Train” which runs on selected Thursdays in June, July and September. All in all, we found that the village was well situated for easy access to the surrounding areas, and the neighbours and locals polite and very friendly.
