The cottage is lovely, and we love the layout. The cottage is equipped with everything you could possibly need, and it has been very well thought out. We also loved all the ornaments and wall pictures, especially the sketches of the cottage and the old photograph. The balcony and garden are excellent. The wifi was better than we expected from the details given. We got speeds of up to 8Mbps and found it to be reliable and consistent. We were also able to get a good 4G signal from Vodafone on our phones. We enjoyed walking around the area, and also went on a few car trips to dog-friendly local attractions, such as Rhiwagor Waterfall and the river and forest walk at Pont Llogel.

  • "A very charming cottage, with excellent amenities."

Underfloor heating and a log fire there to use if needed, although in the summer, we didn't need this. A nice little selection of boards games to play, in the evenings; our kids loved choosing a different one each night. Also a dvd player, with again a good selection. Plenty of comfy sofas and chairs for everyone to stretch out. It's about a 15min drive to service station mini supermarket. Be prepared for small roads leading to the property, but this wasn't an issue at all as there were plenty of passing places if you need them; we didn't pass another car in the 5 days we were there. Beautiful scenery. This is everything you would expect of a countryside cottage. Our hosts were there upon arrival and lovely throughout. Definitely recommended for a rural retreat!

Lake Vyrnwy close by, lovely area for short and long walks. The highest waterfall in Wales at one end. Good path to get to it to the falls. Powys Castle is worth a visit, lovely gardens and the castle itself is interesting.

  • "We had a fantastic week at the cottage and can't wait to share our experience with our friends!"

From the moment we arrived, the owners greeted us with such warmth and friendliness that made us feel right at home. Being on a working farm was such a unique and enjoyable experience for us. One of the best parts was how accommodating they were to our three furry friends. It's usually quite a challenge to find properties that welcome pets, so we were incredibly grateful for the comprehensive information about dog-friendly spots in the area provided in the welcome pack. It's a thoughtful touch that sets this place apart from others. Overall, our time there left us feeling incredibly happy and content. If we were to offer any suggestions for improvement, it would be to ensure that the kitchen is fully equipped with all the essentials. While it was well-stocked with utensils, having sharp knives, a rolling pin, and a working tin opener would have been handy additions. Thank you once again for providing us with such a wonderful stay.

There is a small detached garden with stone table and benches, with a stunning view over the valley below. There are nice walks directly from the property along well marked trails (although be careful of some of the paths on the OS maps, as they have clearly not been updated for a very long time!) Little garden is separate to the cottage but only a stones throw away. Great to sit in while pets mooch and children play. Benches and barbecue in the garden to have your own outdoor dining. Location is quite a car ride from main shops, so would advise to take breakfast and food supplies with you if you plan to do your own cooking. Pubs to eat are a car journey away. Cupboard in kitchen is stocked with basics - salt, pepper, gravy granules, oil, stock cubes - all for use. You just need to take your main ingredients. Pots, pans, crockery, baking utensils all provided. The owners and caretaker are very welcoming and accommodating, nothing is too much trouble. We (two adults and two children) had a lovely stay here, just after lockdown ended and holiday cottages like this reopened. The lodge itself is nicely appointed, with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable furniture, etc. But the real pleasure is the setting: near enough to villages that getting groceries isn't too annoying, but far from any major roads or towns, situated in beautiful farmland. Each evening, we would sit on the balcony attached to the master bedroom and look out over the hills and pastures; at night, there was no road noise at all, just the bleating of sheep and an occasional cow. The sky was pitch-dark. Our kids also loved running around in the enclosed garden (which adjoins the fields). The hosts were very pleasant and accomodating, and have adapted well to the "new normal" -- e.g., although they had removed all the loose-paper handouts (maps, tourist brochures, etc) that would have been there before, they had laminated a selection of these and cleaned them prior to our arrival. Similarly, though they had removed many of the books and games that would have been in the house before Covid-19, they gave us a complete list of what was available on request (and had a smaller, rotating selection of books, movies, etc stocked for us). During the days, we typically lounged around the house in the morning and did little excursions -- Powis castle, the Llanfair Caereninion railway, etc -- in the afternoon. Overall, we had a fantastic time and would return in an instant.
