  • "It was initially tricky to find, but we got there."

The website doesn't state that it's right next to a fish and chip shop, but it is! We were initially disappointed by the position of the apartment. It overlooks someone's back garden and is surrounded by a caravan site on three sides and a chip shop on the fourth. However, we kind of got used to it. It's in a courtyard, with a pleasant shared courtyard out front. The rear and sides are surrounded by a 6-foot wooden fence, just 1 to 2 metres away from the windows. Parking is easy and, despite being only 100 metres from the town funfair, the site is quiet at night and we slept well. The apartment was clean. With Airbnb properties, I'm used to having everything I need in the kitchen. Here, there was no salt, no vinegar, no freezer at all, blunt knives, and a kitchen unit door that we removed and placed to the side of the room to prevent it from falling off when using the fridge or catching on the fridge door when it was opened and closed. The day we left, it was 28 degrees and, with no standalone freezer or ice compartment for our ice packs and a nearly 4-hour journey home, we limited our shopping as we knew we wouldn't be able to preserve any leftovers on the way home. Most of the rooms were plagued by ants. There were ant bait stations in the kitchen, sitting room, and bedroom, so one could argue they had done what they could. It certainly made us keep the place very clean. We euthanised about 60 per day. We managed, but I wouldn't return. As always, it depends on your expectations from the website. We didn't feel the property was properly represented. If you want to easily walk to the beach or town centre, stay at the other end of Hunstanton. If you want a quiet, clean base and plan to be out all day and evening, then this could suit you. We will live and learn.

Thank you for your feedback. I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay at the Hideaways and will not be returning. This year has been particularly problematic for ants as the weather temperatures have been so high. I will inform Sykes Cottages to let future guests know that there is not a freezer compartment in the fridge so they are not disappointed when they arrive. The kitchen unit is being addressed. • "It is a beautiful place and the proximity is just perfect."

The owners were very lovely and helpful. The first night was very unbearable due to the heat. Luckily, they came by on the second day and went all the way to get us a fan which was very kind of them. They were very understanding. Thank you so much we really enjoyed the place

Thank you for your lovely review. Really pleased that you enjoyed your stay at The Hideaways and hope that you will return soon. Property Owner

  • "Our fifth stay in this particular property which is conveniently located for the beach, town, pub and supermarket."

Be aware however that it is now under new ownership and some of the facilities (such as the extremely useful clothes hanging rail) have now been removed.

Thank you for your feedback, it’s nice to hear that this is your fifth stay at the hideaways, when I took over the property the clothes hanging rail was not included but I will look at replacing it with something else.I hope that this will not deter you from returning again. Property Owner
