"1st went 5 years ago and thought it was fabulous."
...Definitely not disappointed on a return this year

"We have just returned from our break at Hendy cottage."
This is our second stay at this cottage . We found this cottage to be very clean and welcoming, it is the ultimate in peace ,quiet and tranquility. The very place to recharge. Of course there is an array of interesting places nearby for eg Criccieth, Porthmadog, Harlech, Nefyn and of course the magnificent Carnarfon.I would absolutely recommend this cottage . Martin and Lin Gordon. Wellingborough.

"A very comfy and restful stay in a very nice cottage and surroundings."
All you could wish for.
-
"Delightful little cottage, quirky and so comfortable, everything you’d need to make for a wonderful short stay was in the cottage."
Super comfy bed and sofas to come back to after a day out exploring the Llyn peninsula. Loved the pretty garden, it is so private, quiet, only highland cattle for neighbours. Would highly recommend
-
"The property is lovely as described."
Enclosed garden at the side of the property is secure for small dogs. Ceilings are very low in the kitchen so watch your head if you’re tall! Only the beds were a hard as they always are in holiday rentals. Couldn’t fault the cleanliness. Very peaceful & quiet.

"My husband and I with our two children and two large dogs stayed at the cottage and absolutely loved it!"
My husband at 6'2" tall did bang his head a few times BUT we absolutely knew what we signed up for, the description of low ceilings and beams was perfectly clear in the description, personally at 5 foot I found it great. Our children had the upstairs bedroom and we had the ground floor bedroom, the rooms were lovely and clean and well furnished. On the first morning I drew the curtains and found a very curious fluffy cow staring at me with impressive horns, a lovely start to the day. The location was wonderful - so quiet and peaceful with fantastic views, plus can reach the coast easily along with many other activities. The kids thought it was great as they had the upstairs and excellent access to the internet. The dogs loved it as well, there was a enclosed area via french doors for them to wander around in and also a front garden to run around in. All in all a lovely cottage in a lovely location.

"Lovely cottage very peaceful great place to get away from it all and relax ."
Couldn’t fault anything about the property just what we were looking for
-
"It was a nice stay, it is a womderful space in Northwales and it is a cute cottage."
But my husband is 190cm tall and he has back problems, so the low ceilings, especially n the shower were unfortunately really a problem for him.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and for your lovely note on departure! I am so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay, we do mention in the listing some of the areas of Hendy Cottage have low ceilings and we have also tried to portray this in the images as best as we can. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay in beautiful North Wales. Property Owner

"In many ways Hendy Cottage is perfect, and we have stayed there before."
A little disappointed that the downstairs bedroom window is now partly obscured by a fence and I do think it would be advisable to warn people of the building work taking place immediately behind the property because I think we may have changed our booking to a date when this had been completed ,had we known. Still a beautiful cottage in a lovely setting.
Hi Judith, thanks so much for your feedback. I agree with you on the fence, however, we thought the compromise was worth it to give guests an exclusive area at the front of the cottage, which used to be the access to the property next door. Regarding the building work, unfortunately due to weather and contractors it has over ran into the busy period, however, it shouldn’t have impacted your stay as the contractors knew about guests being in the cottage. If it has please contact me directly. Thanks again for staying at Hendy. Property Owner

"Hendy is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful setting, spotlessly clean, warm and cosy and with everything you need including the added bonus of sky and netflix."
Unfortunately there was unexpected building work in the adjacent cottage which meant parking issues and noisy workmen at times, the owner was really quick to respond and tried his best to tell them to be discreet and was really helpful and very apologetic, couldn't fault how he tried to resolve the issues. Luckily the weather was great and knowing the local area well I just spent longer on the beaches at Nefyn, whistling sands, Aberdaran, and saw beautiful sunsets on Pwllelli beach. Despite this I would definitely recommend Hendy to family and friends and am planning a return trip myself

"Wonderful cottage in a quiet location Highly recommended and will definitely be coming back in the near future"
-
"Great place to stay, lots of space and very private."
Well located so can get to some nice pubs and restaurants within a 15-20 mins car drive and lots of good walking spots nearby as well

"We enjoyed our stay at Henry cottage."
It is warm and cosy. The log burner is lovely and easy to use. Enough fuel for one fire only so you need to buy your own. Location is very remote, nearest shop is 4 miles away and very expensive. We thought it was a shame that no simple welcome pack was left like milk, tea etc as we travelled for over 3 hours, arrived quite late at night and had to immediately go out again and find the local Londis to be able to have a drink. The garden is pretty secure but be careful if you have large dogs as the fencing is quite low. Our son enjoyed being bale to use the extra lawn for football practice ! The beds are comfy and bed linen and towels are good quality and plenty of towels are provided. As stated by others the ceilings in the kitchens and the shower are VERY low so take care if you are tall. We visited lots of local areas such as Abersoch and porthmaddog.
Hi Jennifer, thanks for your lovely feedback and I’m so happy to hear you enjoyed your stay. In regard to the welcome pack, we did used to supply one, however, most people didn’t actually use it and we found ourselves binning everything once they had left. Most guests tend to have a preference on their tea and coffee these days and bring their own. Thanks again for booking Hendy. Property Owner

"Absolutely fabulous!"
The cottage was amazing it was so quirky and comfortable and the location is beautiful. The log burner was ace and the cottage is so well equipped with everything you could need. We really didn’t want to leave and will definitely be back, comms with the owner was very easy. We highly recommend Sykes and Hendy Cottage.

"Had a wonderful stay in Hendy Cottage, ideal location to explore the Llyn peninsula and go for hikes around Snowdon."
The living room is very cosy and multi fuel stove easy to use. The kitchen has low beams, so if you are taller than 1.75m you will need to duck, however it is a wonderful place to cook in. Both bedrooms are lovely (we slept in the downstairs one as it was easier to access). Bathroom had hot water and strong pressure. All in all a wonderful stay!

"Absolutely fabulous cottage all the convenience s you need only drawback for us ..."
Absolutely fabulous cottage all the convenience s you need only drawback for us was low beams my partner very tall and felt very unsafe going up and coming down from the upstairs bedroom ladder steps a bit scary other than those trivial things would definitely recommend to friends and come back
-
"Great little cottage, full of character."
Loved the loft bedroom and the mountain views. Really peaceful location - a good place to "get-away from it all." Provided us with a great base for exploring the area. Thank you.
-
"Hendy Cottage is situated in a beautiful part of the Welsh countryside."
The cottage itself was very oldy worldly with some quirky aspects which I loved and very beautiful and to be honest the pictures don't do it justice.. Waking up every morning to mainly peace and quiet and stunning views and the odd Highland cow saying hello was just Heaven, relaxing and totally good for both head and soul.. It was only a short car ride to the nearest town with all the amenities that you may require and a perfect base if you wanted to travel and explore other towns,. Hendy Cottage will definitely be a place that I will go back to in the future....

"Lovely oldie worldie cottage & grounds , if peace and tranquility are what you ..."
Lovely oldie worldie cottage & grounds , if peace and tranquility are what you want while staying in touch with wi-fi this is for you , as stated in the discription upstairs could be tricky to accsess , but as there was only 2 of us no problem for us , plenty of parking and lovely peacefull gardens to let your dog out without worrying , a couple of minor issues but over all a nice chilled week
-
"Hi. We,ve just arrived back from a really enjoyable 2 weeks at Hendy Cottage."
The cottage was exactly how we expected regarding cleanliness, location and very welcoming. We had such a peaceful 2 weeks. Thank you. Kind Regards Martin&Lin.
-
"A perfect small home to stay."
-
"Lovely cottage."
Well equipped except for table mats and coasters as we did not want to mark the furniture. I am six foot tall so just beware of the beams and the very low shower.
-
"A clean and reasonably equipped property."
The downside was access to the upstairs bedroom.I would have thought the step ladder /stairs would contravene health and safety regulations,in our opinion it was downright dangerous. There was no means of cooling the upstairs bedroom, which was extremely hot ,the week in June that we stayed there. Also the garden could have done with some maintenance
Hi Rosalind, Thank you so much for your feedback. I'm sorry about the upstairs bedroom access, it is actually a fixed staircase with a handrail even though it may look like a ladder. It is called a crog loft and is a very common feature in old farm buildings in North Wales. I have stipulated on Sykes website the access issue so that guests are aware before booking the cottage. In terms of cooling the upstairs room we could have given you a fan if we had known about the issue during your stay. Thanks also for letting me know about the garden, I will take this up with the gardeners. We do like to keep it looking natural, however, it may have been they were due just after your visit but I will certainly check. I hope the above didn't affect your holiday at Hendy. Thanks Dean Property Owner

"A lovely bijou cottage with plenty of quirky style & garden to enjoy in the sun."
In the late afternoon and early evening sitting and dining under the trees it was reminiscent of anywhere around southern France and the Med. Superb Beaches around the Peninsula that are dog friendly. Views from the cottage are stunning mountains all round and a glimpse of the sea as well. The lanes are very narrow to the cottage but no issues if you take it easy, especially if your car is a bit wider than average loke mine.
-
"Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage."
It was wonderfully quiet and relaxing, whilst fairly central for lots of exciting destinations with the car. A great holiday.
-
"Absolutely charming little cottage, full of local character, with slate and stone evident throughout the sympathetic conversion."
Modern facilities include Sky TV and WiFi, and BluRay player. The downstairs bed and sofas were very comfortable - as was the garden furniture. The Howdens style kitchen had everything we needed for storing, cooking and serving our food. The surroundings and scenery were beautiful, with easy access to North and South coasts of Pen Llŷn, along well made country lanes, and A roads. We didn’t see a single pothole after leaving England! Pwllheli has a wonderful selection of modern shops (Wilko, Home Bargains, Asda, Lidl - and a Wetherspoons!) cafes, and gift shops. From Hendy, if you turn right at the gate, you will travel along a single track road passing down through a pine forest, until you emerge opposite the Funeral Director in Llanaelhaearn (important landmark!) - turn right, then left at the roundabout, and you will find yourselves climbing up and around Yr Eifl, until you see a sign pointing right for Nant Gwrtheyrn, which has the most incredible scenery, café, and challenging cliff path in North Wales! The best Chip Shop and Chinese takeaway is Yummy Box - run by Billy (Bing Lin) and they stayed hot until we got back to Hendy Cottage! This is a truly special place, with horses, Highland Cattle, and a Cock Pheasant as our neighbours, who helped us enjoy our wonderful holiday at Cae’r-ferch Ganol
-
"We had a wonderful stay at Hendy, anyone looking for peace and quiet and looking to connect to nature, lovely sitting in the garden listening to only sounds of the countryside, what a time to go , lots of lambs ,ducklings pheasants, but the highlight a beautiful highland cattle calf with its mum and dad in the adjoining field."
Extremely comfortable bed , lovely log burner, everything you need in the kitchen, fab garden , very helpful and friendly neighbour, and a special mention to the cleaner, for tips on best beaches to take our dog, and it was absolutely spotless, we feel we were honoured to stay in such a quirky beautiful cottage
-
"Lovely cottage and enjoyable stay."
Would benefit from a handrail on the ladder to upstairs bedroom, but over all a great experience. We will be back. Ann & Terry Baxter, with Toby &Bertie.
-
"Great holiday cottage for people looking for a quiet and relaxing break."
The only downside for us was that both the front and back garden areas had lots of dog mess which whilst we had our own dog we always clean up. Unfortunately it meant we had a few times where we stood in mess.
Thanks for your feedback Jayne, I can only apologise. The bad weather before your stay and the leaves may have camouflaged on this occasion. We always carry out a thorough check each week as we love having dogs stay at Hendy and we know they can be cheeky in hiding their mess sometimes :). We will ensure we double check. Thanks Property Owner

"Can't think of anything helpfully negative!"
Great part of the world, lovely cottage, easy to find, just as described, clean and with everything I needed for a week. Wonderful wind, huge waves, showers, sunsets, sea air, wanted to stay for a year. Thank you.
-
"Lovely cosy cottage."
Hendy cottage is exactly what we were looking for. Isolated in a beautiful location. The garden was well maintained safe and secure for our little dog. The beds were very comfortable, great nights sleep. The cottage has everything you need for a comfortable relaxing stay. On price and facilitates I can recommend this wonderful little place. It was perfect for us.
-
"Absolutely loved our short break at Hendy."
Stunning location and beautiful cottage. Very clean and comfortable. Everything we needed for a family break.
-
"Lovely cottage in a great location and helpful owner"
-
"An idyllic, cosy cottage offering peace and quiet."
A good location with the main honeypots and beaches generally no more than 15-20 minutes drive away. Comfortable large sofas to enjoy a post dinner tipple with a roaring log burner adding to a already pleasant ambiance. We aim to return soon!!
-
"Hendy is a beautiful little bolthole in scenic surroundings."
Ideally placed for exploring the Llŷn Peninsula. Loved the castle and horses saying hello over the fence, and the garden was safe and secure for our dogs.
-
"Lovely location, well equipped cottage, bed could do with a new mattress and people need to know the shower is very low."
We had a great time and was just what we needed.
Hi Robert, thanks for your feedback and I'm happy you had a great time. I will check the mattresses as they have not long since been replaced with new memory foam ones, maybe it has become faulty. Thanks for staying at Hendy. Property Owner

"Lovely rural cottage, very quiet and peaceful."
-
"Hendy Cottage is a lovely, cosy, rustic cottage next to the hills, along 2 miles of single track country lanes with passing places."
It has a very well equipped kitchen. Guests can use TV and Wifi and a games cupboard for evenings in. Beds were comfy. The cottage is very secluded and peaceful, miles from shops or nearest village so shop for food before arriving. Property unsuitable for people who cant climb ladders to the 1st floor double bedroom. Unfortunately there is no bath but there is a very novel slate tiled shower to use. The garden has a large eating area, great for outdoor eating. Bring your own solar fairy lights. The field next to the garden had friendly horned cattle and horses coming to the fence to say hello. We and our two dogs really enjoyed our stay at Hendy Cottage and would definately return to holiday there again. Chris and Nick Wiley.
-
"We had a wonderful time, the cottage was beautiful and very clean,I would highly recommend this place, good value for your money, Dean was very helpful and keeping me updated ."
Thank you for a wonderful holiday
-
"A lovely snug cottage."
A very unusual use of rooms which adds to its uniqueness. The garden is lovely just natural , which fits the surrounding. It would have been lovely to sit out and enjoy the views but i think we only saw the sea once from the cottage because of the weather. The downstairs bed was sooo comfortable, best nights sleep ever. Be mindful it is very isolated along very very narrow roads.

"We really had a nice break in the cottage Everything is there that you need ..."
We really had a nice break in the cottage Everything is there that you need It's lovely and cosy with the log burner going ,peaceful never slept so well The owner is very helpful with information Would recommend the cottage for a get away break

"Excellent cottage"
I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the top scores for everything including cleanliness, comfort and facilities, the feedback has been much appreciated. Property Owner
-
"Lovely place to stay ."
Totally relaxing and peaceful just what was needed. Our neighbour was fab and very helpful as indeed were the local farmers who's land we sometimes inadvertently wandered onto whilst out trekking.( although make sure your dogs are on the leash ).
-
"This is a great cottage, it is well equiped, comfortable and in a great location."
Two small things that could assist. A pint glass would be a nice addition to the kitched glassware and some form of misted glass in the backroom would be appreciated. We loved the isolation and cottage views, and enjoyed the challenge of single track lanes locally. Highly recommended.
Thanks for your feedback, and we will certainly take your suggestions into consideration, we can look at putting some pint glasses into the property in the future, thanks for your suggestion. Property Owner
-
"We've spent a lovely time in this cute and cosy cottage."
Beautiful countryside, amazing views. It is a great place for a city break. Very close to Snowdonia mountains and even closer to the seaside. In the cottage, you can find everything you may need. All facilities are in good condition and clean.
-
"Well Hendy really is a no hassle rural retreat with all mod cons and spectacular views!"
We loved it and will be coming back again and again we hope.
-
"There is no bath in this cottage even though this is listed."
I holidayed on my own and this is a key feature for me when I book a holiday and would not have booked this cottage otherwise. I sent an e mail to Sykes cottages on my arrival and have not had a great reply, which is more than 1 week ago. I also sent a text message to the cottage owner and have not had a reply either. Very dissapointed.
-
"The cottage was exactly what we wanted."
It had enough ‘mod cons’ without losing the proper cottage feel. The location was remote enough to get a feeling of complete rest but just a quick drive to interesting locations. The only thing missing was a hairdryer but as I have really short hair it didn’t matter but others will need to take one. A perfect place for a quiet break.
-
"The cottage itself was perfect my only fault with the area is no Dog walking apart from along the roads which are very narrow theres no public footpaths close."
-
"Beautiful quiet location, and very comfortable."
-
"Hendy cottage was so cosy and the surroundings were beautiful."
We got out each day and explored the beaches and towns of the Llyn Peninsular but we loved returning to the peace and solitude of the cottage. Thank you for a lovely stay!
-
"The peace and quiet of the location."
The external table chairs and umbrella on the patio were particularly useful to us for dining alfresco. Everything we needed was there. The quilts were really comfortable. Obviously a little bit in the sticks and hard to find although the owners had given detailed maps. Turns out that Hendy Cottage is actually named on Google maps and so no problem going backwards & forwards. Convenient for Portmadog and Perfwelli and Carnarvon. No hesitation recommending this cottage for those who want to get away from it all for a few days. Could really live there.
-
"A great cottage, exactly as described in a wonderful location."
-
"Loved the cottage."
Very peaceful and quiet. Surrounded by fields, distant mountains and birdsong. It was sunny but unseasonably cold when we arrived and the storage heaters were extremely welcome. Beautiful beaches and walks to explore.
-
"Loved the cottage and surrounding area."
The garden was lovely and perfect for the children to play. The cottage it’s self is beautiful and full of character and charm. Very clean upon arrival and couldn’t fault it at all. Great location and a good base for Snowdonia, Angelsey and the coast. Beaches are a must
-
"A Beautiful little romantic getaway ideally situated and very cosy."
On a scale of one to ten Hendy Cottage is a definite eleven.
-
"We enjoyed our stay at Hendy Cottage but found the cottage cold as we did not want to use the wood burner, we are used to gas or electricity and although we used the electric fire we found it cold."
In saying that we were comfortable and as I have said enjoyed the holiday. the quirkiness of the cottage we found very much to our taste and we found the bed most comfortable. The weather also made for the holiday because if it had been a bad spell there was nothing to do owing to the remoteness of the cottage.
-
"Lovely quirky cottage in a very rural setting."
Great for those who like tranquility and getting away from it all. Cottage has everything you want but bear in mind that it is a 12 minute drive to the nearest shop! A great location for exploring the Llyn peninsula. Very helpful owner who quickly got the hot water problem we encountered fixed.
-
"We have been to Hendy 3 times now and we love it just as much as the first time."
It’s remote and cosy and like a home from home. Can’t wait to go again!
-
"Absolutely beautiful cottage and location, couldn't have asked for more."
Peacefully rested and a fantastic week. Thank you so much.
-
"The cottage was wonderful, quirky and comfortable."
The wood burner was amazing and the kitchen had everything you could need. The welcome pack of coffee, tea, milk, sugar, Welsh cakes and a bottle of wine was a lovely thoughtful touch. Some instructions for the fan oven and grill would have been helpful and a washer dryer would have completed all needs. The only other disappointments were that it was said there were walks from the door. You can indeed walk from the door but the lanes are extremely narrow and those drivers who appear familiar with them do drive very fast so it's neither pleasant or easy with dogs or small children also the garden(s) are not actually secure as described and easily got out of by our inquisitive pup who then had quite a nerve wracking adventure amongst the highland cattle in the neighbouring fields. Fortunately the farmer was extremely understanding and no harm done on this occasion. Having said that we would happily return somewhat better prepared and aware of these things because nothing detracts from the cottage itself and the fantastic location.
