  • "What a view, just perfect."

Everything we needed except for a bottle opener. The floors are very noisy and squeaky but as there was only two of us we coped. We didn't go downstairs or go into the garden. We were able to have breakfast on the balcony. We bought the light weight chairs inside when the wind really picked up. We visited Cemaes bay as Children for many years and now come as adults. We loved the views this lovely house gave us.

  • "We was a family of 5 adults, very spacious, we’ve stayed here 3 times now, location and views amazing, lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the world go by, it was lovely to light the log burner at night, very cosy."

Floor boards very creaky, but you get used to it after a while, there was no bottle opener in the draw which wasn’t good for 1st night as all the drinks we brought required an opener, in the manual it stated to put bins out Tuesday morning to be emptied, they was put out before 8 o’clock at end of the drive and wasn’t emptied, so our bins were very full at the end of our stay, so I don’t know how the next family would get rid of their rubbish. We also had problems with flies downstairs, there was fly spray to use but there was more flies coming in, bit of a pain when we was trying to prepare food, would definitely recommend this place to stay, would return in the future, just hope the flies don’t though x

Beautiful home well thought out. First impression amazing just needs little tweaks. Bedrooms/bathrooms other than being cold (heating not on) plug in heater ok but yea cold modern well thought out lovely rooms. Living room cold heating only seemed to go up to 18.5 but log fire very easy to use and adequate to heat the large living area. Washroom on 1st floor pink loo n sink never look clean white suite would lift that little washroom immensely. Kitchen/dining area ok. Could not get tv to work. Overall yes lots of stairs and cold but will definitely be back definitely recommend. Photos and description needs updating and as review in August says ?not that dog friendly. We always take our own throws and covers as out little dog does sit with us on the furniture.

  • "We were so excited to stay as we booked it while visiting Cemaes last year."

The house is marketed as fog friendly, but it's not. The information provided by home owner said their dog slept in the basement and it was inferred our dogs should do the same- this should be detailed in your description as we felt it was misleading. The dogs weren't allowed on the furniture or upstairs but no staircases were provided. If you dont want dogs up stairs make it easy for us to achieve that. Throws were provided but not for use of dogs on sofas, sadly. The oak flooring marked really easily and we were paranoid about this, so didn't use the garden at the rear as there were drainage issues and lots of green 'algae' and water pooling. We felt the dogs couldn't use it as they may make dirty marls on the floor. Instead we ensured the dogs were toileted on a walk first thing and last thing.....they are able to access our garden at home constantly. The details stated a small welcome pack, couldn't find it....found a small jar of escape but not sure if that was welcome back.....it was confusing. There should be a welcome pack if it's detailed in info. If not remove it. The master bedroom bed was horrendous, my husband and I are used to memory foam, this bed kept us up all night as when one moved the mattress flipped the other up. Very uncomfortable. The house needs to be either dog proofed with stair gates and throws that dogs can sit on or updated and decorated and no dogs allowed. It's neither or at the mo. We love the location and amount of space we had but it wasn't relaxing for these reasons sadly.

  • "Beautiful house in a fabulous location."

Would suggest the listing mentions the garden. This was an unexpected extra but great to be able to let the dog out. House was clean except for a stack of plates and pans which had been put back in the cupboard unclean. The bedding in the main bedroom smelled strongly of damp. Welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and cake was a lovely extra but would suggest a toilet roll would be helpful too. We would definitely stay again, but perhaps bring our own pillows.

The house is great, exactly as listed and sparking clean. The kitchen was brilliantly stocked with utensils, pans and dishes, which was great as we had most meals in during our break. The games room in the basement was good fun too. The views from the front windows are amazing and Cemaes village is really near (less than 5 min walk) with a small supermarket and a couple of pubs. Only one minor (and I mean minor) negative was the floor was really noisy when walking around the living room and kitchen. This didn’t stop us loving the property and have a fantastic break. Thank you!!

  • "As a family of four (with children aged 12 & 15) we had a fabulous three night stay at Cable House and would definitely return again in the future."

The house is warm, comfortable, clean and well-equipped with the most amazing views of Cemaes beach and harbour from the balcony, main living space and two bedrooms. Part of the garage (adjoining a large utility room) has been converted to a games room with a small pool table and dartboard, with plenty of darts and pool cues available, which was enjoyed by all! Beach access is less than a minute walk from the property and the high street is only a two minute walk away - here you can find a few small shops, cafes, pubs and a fish and chip takeaway. We enjoyed stunning walks along the coastal path in both directions, in addition to spending time on the beaches and rock pools in the bay. During which we stumbled across the lovely Bay View Restaurant & Bar at the Gwesty Gadlys Hotel which can be accessed through a field from the end of the promenade or from the main road. Thank you for accepting our booking at the very last minute and for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

  • "This property has obviously had a lot of thought put into it sometime in the past, it is well equipped & comfortable, position wise it is very convenient as everything is within walking distance, beach, coastal Wales trails, shops, cafe, chip shop, hotel restaurant."

The property position means there is a superb panoramic view of the bay / harbour which can be enjoyed from the front balcony. On the downside, property maintenance seems to be severely lacking, part of the balcony has been repaired using cable ties, plus a piece of guttering is missing, the door to the balcony doesn’t lock, however closing it provides some security as there is no handle on the outside, there is a window downstairs in the utility room that has a handle which is very loose and about to come off altogether, the rear garden has some standing water due to poor drainage, not a major problem in itself, but algae has bloomed in it, which most dog owners know is extremely toxic to their pet, so we never used this space. The fob to the garage door didn’t work, plus when using the internal switch in the games room(another story) initially we didn’t know there was also an electrical switch on the garage ceiling that had to be turned on before you could open the door. The games room was unusable, there is a dartboard, but only one dart had a flight, the snooker cues also had non existent or cracked tips! There was no table football despite the fact it’s mentioned three times in the property description, also if there is a games console I never saw it? The electrical socket the kettle plugs into one side doesn’t work, the main bathroom floor is in need of some work, a fair bit of missing / damaged grouting which is both unsightly & unhygienic, plus you can feel some tiles moving as water getting underneath has destroyed the bond, spoiling what could have been one of the stand out features of the property if only there had also been a wall mounted / hand held shower and not just an overhead unit. Yes, the floorboards creak, but having rented numerous holiday cottages over the last 30 plus years, this is something that you come to expect as properties age… Broadband coverage is adequate but could be improved with some thought as could the TV, not internet connection, so no access to your subscription channels whilst there. Due to the above my wife decided to do a couple of the jigsaws, both had two pieces missing, to be honest I expected as much. Bottom line is… Yes, we did enjoy our stay, the house is in a terrific position and the bay is lovely, would I rent again, maybe, but that could be down to my banging my head on the glass kitchen hood & living room light a few times

  • "Lovely property with great views of the beach and harbour."

The balcony is a great addition. The property is very clean and tidy with nice beach decor. It's a comfortable size for a family stay. The layout of the property had us all fairly amused, all week we spent walking to the front to go upstairs. Resulting in lots of running in circles once remembering the stairs are the wrong way round. The views from the master bedroom are great, however the blinds are totally see through so you have no privacy. The main bathroom also has no window blind. The shower in the main bathroom has poor water pressure and just a rain drop shower head, takes a long time to rinse soap out of long hair. This in turn causes the entire bathroom floor to become a swimming pool. The games room is advertised as having a football table and a games console, they were not there, but we did use the pool table. I read other reviews before we arrived especially the comments about the creaking floors. I have to agree they were really bad. There was no way to walk around without making a noise. Overall we had a good holiday, would consider booking again.

Also one of the uplighters in bedroom 2 and the lamp on the landing. We were disappointed that there was no football table or games console as per the listing. E. all of the internal doors required a good clean and a paint job(they were grubby and had stains on them), floors needed a thorough clean also (lots of dust and dirt in corners). The family shower/wet room does not have a window blind! There was a necklace hanging off the central heating thermostat that had obviously been left by someone else. Not convinced that any enhanced (covid) cleaning is being done. We could not get the TV to work properly, couldn't get terrestrial channels so we watched via the smart tv which constantly buffered. No DVD player so we couldn't watch the dvds we'd brought with us. On a positive note, the property is in a great location overlooking the Bay, there are some lovely walks nearby and other villages/towns are within easy access. The bed we used was very comfortable. And we didn't mind the creaky floors although when they creak in the dead of night when everyones in bed it can be a bit spooky (think it may be caused by the underfloor heating).

Perfect for exploring the area. Some lovely coastal walks on the doorstep too. Facilities in the house were good. Made use of slow cooker, kitchen scales etc. Fab TV in lounge with Netflix's etc,(you need your own account for this) Towels and bed linen are of a high standard as are furnishings. A previous person noted a couple of negative things. The first being creaky floors. I agree, they are exceptionally creaky especially in the kitchen and upstairs.and could disturb you especially at night when going the loo etc. As there were just the five of us staying which included 2 kids and a dog then it didn't bother us much and the positives of the house won us over. There is building work next door. There are x 3 three story large terraced housing being converted into flats. Big project and my heart sank when I saw the scaffolding at the thought of builders interrupting our peace but we didn't hear a peep as they were working in doors. The village has a small McColls a couple of cafes (definately recommended the heritage centre one) a chemist and a super fish and chip shop. Locals were friendly (despite losing the Rugby!) So in summary I would definitely recommend this property and we will return to it as we had a super time and loved the tranquility and position. If you go out of season the price drops dramatically and would be a steal.

then in the night some one goes to the toilet they try and be quiet but every step they take you can here it , the creaking floors , ,,, then look at the pictures on sykes web site the house looks great until you get there and right next door to you is a building site , but not one word off sykes when booking this cottage we know this has been going on since january this year . we do wonder when this building work started was it last year , trust us its doubtful if it will be finished this year, the best place is the balcony what a view we could of sat there all the time . take your own tongs with you to turn the sausage over with , and do check the pedal bin to see if its a new one as it was full of mold at the base of the bin , , we will never understand why you cant get in early at these cottages as we saw the cleaner come and the cleaner go , she was only there for an hour , its a good job guests like us clean our own mess up , or why they never have a deep clean as if they did have a deep clean then they would have spotted what we complained about,, if we did not have to complain about the smell and the floors were perfect we would have returned time and time again , those floors god help you poor people , ask sykes for a picture of the building site before you book this place , and yes the floors are as bad as we say they are it reminds us of the grand hotel llandudno but you cant here the floors when in your room at the grand for some reason or you never could, remember the floors you have been warned

  • "Fabulous location opposite Cemaes Bay, well equipped home."

Welcome gift of cake, milk and wine. Would have been useful to have starter pack for the wood burner as couldn't use the first night as arrived in evening. Enclosed garden was fine for the dog with steps up to a gravel area. We used the games room, enjoyed pool and darts but the tv screen was too small for our twenty something kids to use with our games console. The downstairs utility room was great for drying the dog off after trips to the beach. Some local information re location of shops etc would be handy and maybe some leaflets on places to visit. Would definitely return to Cable House, wish we had booked a week rather than long weekend. Missing the view already!
